Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 9, 2012 Global Moderator Posted November 9, 2012 Went to LaCygne this morning. North wind early made it a little rough to fish but eventually wind changed to west and died down. Caught several LMB, no big ones but had a good day on the water. What were you getting your fish on? It's about time to switch over to La Cygne and Wolf Creek for the winter I'm afraid. Quote

Got them all on a Ned Rig. Afraid you may be right, although the winter Crappie at Perry and Clinton is usually good. Quote
nokturnal_one Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Welcome to the forum. We have a great group of guys that are very active and helpful on this thread for the KC area. I was fishing from the furthest shore fishing spot on the southeast end of the lake where the road curves to the north. I don't fish Gardner very often but that spot was very good in the spring and seems to produce pretty well in the fall also. Sounds good. I usually fish where all the slop is, there is a dock on public land that i usually go to that provides awesome topwater and decent soft plastic action but the last 2 months all the fish moved out of the area and the slop became super thick and I haven't had a single bite. I don't have a boat so I don't travel to the big lakes I just stick to the little lakes and walk the banks. Tomorrow is my day off so hopefully I can get a good days fishing in before the cold really sets in. Quote

nokturnal_one Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 The wiper are killing it at Lake Olathe on shad colored swimbaits, lipless cranks, and pretty much anything else shad colored, on the south side just look for the shad boiling up on the top. My wife pulled this in on 8# line on a prespooled bps $20 spinning set up. It took her forever the sound of the drag was music to my ears haha, my little dog in the pic request that he gets to lick all fish before i throw them back. Quote
sizzlefry40 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Caught some nice wipers with Chris at olathe today Quote

pbrussell Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Well, I was really itching to get out again today. But, I'm sick and it's more than a little windy. Oh well. Really great weather otherwise. Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 More than a little windy??? Thats like saying KC Chiefs is more than a little bad. ROFL Quote
Goose21 Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 I'm just north of Columbia Mo, and all of you sitting on the couch today probably said a lot less curse words than I did out on the lake. 20+ mph steady winds just don't agree with my 16 foot aluminum Lowe. Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 If there was no wind, I'd be back home in SC. LOL Quote

You need a bigger trolling motor. I've got a 16' Lowe Roughneck with a 70lb Maxxum and a 20mph wind is no problem on a small lake Quote
Goose21 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Oh I know it blue my 40#'s of thrust leaves a lot to be desired. When I sit on Santa's lap this year you know what I'm asking for! Wicked cold front moved through today with plenty of wing and rain. Going to be a cool week... Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 12, 2012 Global Moderator Posted November 12, 2012 Saw a picture of a couple studly walleye caught from Hillsdale yesterday. I've made it almost all year without fishing Hillsdale but the thought of maybe catching a walleye over 5lbs may be too much for me to resist Quote
Mr_Scrogg Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Anyone have any experience with renovated lakes? KDWPT took Kingman down, killed off some nuisance invaders and has started bringing it back up. Stocking with fingerlings up to 10" now, and adult LMB in March. Then replace the Pike they transplanted before the draw down. Im super stoked about them cleaning up the population to being a better gamefish population. Quote

I was fishing next to you, you drive the Honda with the VET plate on it? If so I honked at ya Friday in the Titan. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 13, 2012 Global Moderator Posted November 13, 2012 Took the new puppy out this morning to Gardner to see how she acted and if she was interested in fishing at all. She was having a good time playing in the grass and she seemed to be pretty interested in the fish too. Quote

Ya that's me with the Veterans tags. Went to Gardner after work today to relieve some stress and the bite was on!! I was using a shad colored jerk bait for a little bit and caught a couple little guys then switched to a bone colored spook and it was GAME ON!!! They were hitting it so hard it would launch into the air even with the little guys, then a "big" girl ("big" for Gardner standards) slammed it and I about lost my gear, she was about 4lbs sadly I had no camera and my smart phone is apparently brain dead so no pics. Love the topwater action. Quote
kylek Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 How's the fishing at Melvern at this time of year? Maybe even in to early December if the weather is good enough to get out. My father in law is recovering from hip surgery and finds out next week how long before he can fish. If he can go we are headed to Melvern for some smallie action!!! Quote

If he can go we are headed to Melvern for some smallie action!!! The wife and I did really well out there last week. Good numbers and good average size. We only fished the dam with a Ned rig, didn't even try to go anywhere else. I'd guess as long as the water stays about 50 you should be able to catch them pretty good still. Quote
Chris S Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Hit Blues faaaaavorite Lake today and killed the Carp, I mean crappie!!!!!!!!!!!! Electric chicken was the trick! Quote
pbrussell Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I'm headed out to pleasanton east today to see if I can't get some cold water largemouth. Gonna throw all the cold water staples. I'm betting the surface temps are somewhere around 45. We'll see how I fare. Quote
