Super User Catt Posted August 21, 2013 Author Super User Posted August 21, 2013 Let's forget the grass and look at the structure which we all know is simply the shape of the bottom of the lake. Let's look at Community Flat out of White Oak and around to Housen' without the grass. The most contrasting bottom is White Oak Creek and the Sabine River on the north side, the rest is fairly bland. Look for areas where the creek/river is next to the flat, then look for under water points, humps, ridges, cuts/guts all found here. Now add grass and timber...hot spot! There are some cuts, drops, or depressions on the flat but ya really have to search to find em. Summer and Winter I'm near the river/creek, Fall and Pre-Spawn I'm on the flat. Quote
JacobG Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Just a thought.   (Boat Positioning.) Important??? Knowing how to approach your area, where the fish are positioned, and how to present your bait. Should this be equally of importance to us as color, types of baits. To some it seems of great importance. Just a thought. Quote
Drewbe Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Catt, where do you teach pe? I taught pe in Calcasieu parish for 12 long years!! Ps. Thanks for all the reports and tips Quote
shaneus Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 what is the best color top water to use on the bend, I don't really fish topwater so I don't own very many, but the spots I've been fishing I think they will buy it first thing in the morning, do they bite more of a spook or more of a pop r Quote
Bearonthewater Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Shaneus, Â First, congrats on your new TB PB...........great fish. Â For topwater, seems like the one-knocker spook has given me the most success on Toledo Bend. Bone color to be specific. Â The knocker has seemed to do so much better than the original silent spook as it has the ability to really call them up from the depths when fishing deeper water. Â Chug Bug would be second best for success. Â But then again, that's just me and my 2 cents. Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 21, 2013 Author Super User Posted August 21, 2013 JacobG, boat positioning can be the difference between catching & skunked. Drewbe, Victory Baptist School in south Lake Charles Bone Orange Belly Quote
