shaneus Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 First off great to to see catt back! i havent been on here for some time now but ill be changing that!  Shaneus That was me that weighed in 27.29lbs and its funny to here the different rumors that get spread lol but i can tell you i was not throwing a senko over grass  ba ha ha i love it! rumors rumors....that toad is beautiful..... i figured you were chunking a big crankbait somewhere offshore.........i hope to be able to get on the fish like you one day......i caught a bunch of small fish only weighed in 2 for like 6lbs or something....not a stellar day, but it was my first time on the lake so at least i caught a few with 30 mins of prep on the drive there lol.......i fish rayburn 99% of the time.....if i can locate fish i can catch 'em......but like everyone else i have a hard time locating them on a new body of water Quote
shaneus Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 okay, went fishing 2-12 found some fish in lowe's creek throwing wat. red soft plastics, best 5 fish went 15 lbs. im goin go to fish a different creek/area each time i head to the lake and give a report as im learning the lake and thats what this forum topic is all about......feel free to correct me or pm me for any info or give me info....my goal is to have people read my posts and be able to go fishing with their dads, brothers, girlfriends, and people who make short trips to the lake with little preparation, to get them to an area with fish so they can have fun, and not spend the whole trip trying to locate fish......i have printed and read this entire forum, thank you to those of you who contribute, i figured it was my turn to give back what little i can Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Best advice I can give on Toledo is to pick one section of the lake, like Lowes Creek to the bridge, and learn it. Â I spent 2 years ago in Six Mile and Housen Bay alone and I still am learning that place. Â THis past year I spent learning Slaughter and Carrice Creek...the fish are everywhere, you just have to spend the time to get to know the area you are in to catch em. Â The biggest mistake people make on the Toledo is fishing Six Mile one day, Lanan the next, and Solans the next day. Â Spend time in one area and you will learn how the fish relate to that area and then you'll start catching more and bigger fish! Â I live 2 hours from the lake, made about 15 trips up there last year and caught 8 fish over 7lbs in one area because I spent the year learning it. Â How did Upshaw fare in the Everstart? Â He came to Louisiana College with me in 06...I remember for the talent show he set up a bucket and flipped in it lol. Quote

Super User Catt Posted February 23, 2013 Author Super User Posted February 23, 2013 shaneus  Here's a couple for free!  If you're down south find the outside grassline!  Regardlesss of where get off the bank! Quote
shaneus Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Thanks CATT, I'll be on the lake tomorrow morning launching out of six mile me and my dad are going. I have my mind set on following my electronics and sitting on the outside grass line, I've read much about this in this thread, what do you look for on your side imaging? Or do you just follow the grass line since you know its a productive area? I fished rayburn today and fished deeper than normal trying to do the outside grass line, found some ditches and bare spots but no fish not a bite all day ( the 30 mph wind didn't help), hopefully tommorrow is better Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Hopefully your day was better than mine...fished all day, 6 fish, big fish about 4lbs. Â It was ALOT tougher than I thought it would be today, for me atleast. Quote
shaneus Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Hopefully your day was better than mine...fished all day, 6 fish, big fish about 4lbs.  It was ALOT tougher than I thought it would be today, for me atleast.   my day was no better, there were 50 boats every where i wanted to fish, me and dad went to the back of a creek in north housen where 15 feet of water is within spitting distance of the bank, caught a few nothing over 3.5 pounds. caught them on a weightless trick worm and spinnerbaits. i slow rolled the spinnerbait in the creek ticking the grass following the edge. went to sportsmans afterwards to eat sounded like everyone had a rough day on the water. i have a tournament this weekend ,hopefully the fish i found 2 weeks ago are still there since thats the only productive spot i have that i feel i can get a limit out of...... fishingcajun Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 My report - Fished the upper end of La Nana / United Bay  Feb. 21- Afternoon of fishing - Partner and I had each one Keeper fish. 5#+ on trick worm, and 3#+ on R-Trap. Boated another 6-7 short fish. All on outside isolated grass patches Feb 22 - Afternoon of fishing - 12-4:30 and quit with fish biting the last 2 hrs. 6-Bites, 6 fish boated, 3 over 3#, and 3- 14-15" fish, all fishing same area, changed up after not getting bit, started punching the grass with Brush-hog, Might have been timing, but after two hours without a bite working outside pattern on trick worm, R-trap, spinner-bait, etc. switched to something I have more confidence in. Note: Cloudy weather all day, lite rain for short period 3-4 times, I would have thought the fish would have been scattered and not isolated to grass. Feb 23 - Fished ALL-Day, up until 4:30pm, 1-bite ! 1-short fish, needless to say, probably quit fishing when i should have been just starting, Kind of burns you out without a bite all day. fished same area, same pattern, switched patterns, backed off into deeper water, etc. could not find the fish, or at least get them to bite. Note: Blue-Bird day, I really thought it would be better, with the sun out, fish would have moved deeper in the cover!! Quote

Super User Catt Posted March 2, 2013 Author Super User Posted March 2, 2013 The outside grassline is where I start year round & either go shallower or deeper depending on time of the year. Right now the inside grassline out to the outside grassline is where the bass are staging. Despite popular beleif some bass are building nests, which means big females are near. Â Start out throwing a spinner bug or trap until you contact fish & then slow down with plastics or jigs. Quote
fishnla Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 There was an 11.65 caught in our company tournament yesterday Quote
ealex Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 ok guys its been a while since i was here. coaching two softball and one T-Ball team plus work leaves dad little time to fish!  now to the good stuff!!! Fished Six Mile last wednesday had a awesome day! had a 6.8 & 5.14 keep 18 other solid keeper fish up to 3.5lb. Best 5 between 19 & 20 lbs. they where distroying a 5in swim bait. i will be back on the lake March 12 and 13 ( have a break from ball practice) hoping to repeat last weeks trip. good luck to everyone if yall have a report post or PM me Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I was on the lake Wednesday and Thursday, March 6 and 7th. Wednesday I went north to 1215 and caught 10 fish, top 5 weighed 19lbs. Thursday I went south, fished from Lowes to Housen. Caught 10 fish, but only managed 11lbs for my top 5. Most fish caught on a senko or spinnerbait, two baits I HATE to throw lol. I fished 20+ fow, 8-10 fow with grass, and the bank. ALL fish were on the bank. I figured that 8-10 fow with grass would be the ticket, but I guess I just couldnt find em. Bass_Fanatic Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Came in 2nd in my club tournament today with 16lbs. Â All fish caught slow rolling a spinnerbait in 2-6 fow with grass...points seemed to be the key. Quote
