Well its been slow this week but tuesday I fished deep and caught about 40 bass (top five weighing about 19 pounds) and some white bass in about two and half hours. Came in to get a bite to eat and went back out and caught about 15 to 20 bass (top five again about 19 lbs) in about hour and half. Top five from both trips combined would have weighed about 23 lbs. Problem is its in the wide open and the wind this weekend is not gonna be easy, and the fish aren't quite the size as I was getting. All of the big fish had eggs so I guess they were heading up to spawn, but I can't catch anything shallow. I was very confused to see so many fish with eggs, as a matter of fact I thought they were just fat from feeding, but a guy at our camp cleaned a bunch of fish he caught deep and they were definately about to burst with eggs. So my question is, where are the big fish now I can't find them? All im catching deep right now are 2 pounders.

ive been fishing 10-20 fow the last week or two and have been on a real steady pattern of good fish.. but thats where i feel comfortable and i believe that has alot to do with the success you have on the water. For instance me and my buddy went out the other day we were in our own boats when we both got back to the dock that evening we both had 23-24lbs i caught all mine on jigs, c-rigs, and t-rigs deep, he caught all his on a suspending jerkbait. You said you have only been catching 2 pounders deep well thats all ive been catching shallow. I have been consistently catching 4s 5s and 6s deep. Holding a pattern is always more difficult in the spring just because the fish are all doing different things but for the most part ive been on them deep.

TBendBassin have you been in last couple days? One more thing the deep water fishing is kinda new to me. Saturday the wind is upwards of 20 mph, other than dangers is it stupid to try the deep holes ive been fishing. Oh and I'm in 17 to 32 fow.

Everyone I'm hearing from are catching bigger fish in 12-18' on t-rigs, jigs, & c-rigs

The bigger bass will spawn first!

There are some tournaments this weekend so everybody is holding back details even from me.

I heard one of us did very well in their tournament yesterday ;)

We placed second out of 60 boats. We weighed in 13.65, the wind was blowing so hard our trolling batteries were dead at 11:00. It was a tough day but people who hid from the wind were not catching them.

We found the fish suspending in 20-25 foot, threw deep diving crank baits to get them.

Good job Wesley...much better than my weekend stringers.

The wind absolutely hammered anglers but once again the back end of Housen' bayou produced excellent stringers with 2 kicker fish over 7 lbs.

The 2 anglers worked the bayou channel with jigs & Texas rigs ;)

My buddy and I fished Sunday and caught 60 on spinner baits, DD 22's and 6XD's. Caught about 30 on one point on the crankbaits. It was so much fun. We caught them every cast until we lost all of our crank baits on timber. Fished yesterday and caught about 30 on spinner baits and rattletraps. The wind and rain got us down, but we caught fish after all.

Sounds like 2 great days of fishing. Im hoping to fish The Bend tomorrow. Planning on starting out in Six Mile/Magee Flats area and fishing Carrice Creek in the evening.

Bass-Fanatic,

Let us know what you do in Carrice Creek. I like to fish that area.

Well, got on the lake a little later than I wanted to yesterday. Didnt get there until noon. Fished until 7:00. Lets just put it this way...I whacked em! Top 5 went 35lbs. I figure I caught close to 300 fish yesterday, about half whites and half blacks. Biggest fish went 8.5lbs along with two 7's and two 6's, not to mention all the other 4-5lb fish. PM me for details, dont really want to put too much info out there for everyone in the world to see...I'll have 500 boats on me next week. :eyebrows:

By far, the best day of my life! Wdycrankbait got to see a few of them. I will try to get some pics later if I can.

Dude that's how you kick bass ;)

Everyone I've talked to is saying the same thing, this year is already building towards what could quite possible be the best year ever on the Big Pond.

Yea, it was just one of those days! Probably the best day I'll ever have.

And it looks like it just going to keep getting better. Cant wait until the fall bite in September/October! Thats my favorite time to fish out there.

Just so ya know, Catt, I'm getting a big map of the Bend tomorrow and then I'm going to go thru this thread like I'm looking for Blackbeard's treasure. Quite a piece of work, sir!
