The fish will spawn for another month or so. I think the majority of fish have spawned, but there is definatly a wave on beds now and will be until end of April. The waves are just getting smaller and smaller.

I fished Wednesday afternoon until midnight & Thursday from daylight until 8 pm; not a single female out of 67 bass caught. Fished Housen' from Hurricane to Ashmore to Bull to the Pipeline to the very back.

Talked to 4 top tournament angles & 3 guides none are catching bedding bass north of Mill Creek.

This does not bass do not spawn in waves but the majority of the spawn is over.

FYI ;)

HAS ANY OF Y'ALL BEEN TO THE PIPELINE AREA OR THE VERY BACK OF HOUSEN'?

we slayed em on a Stanley's Vibra-Wedge, double gold willow, white/chartreuse/blue, 1/2 oz.

The very back? I havent been there in years, is there a lot of grass back there now? I hope the pads come back, in there. That used to be a great area for the frog bite.

What kind of surface temps are you getting down there? I was really surprised to get a 74.5 yesterday on Lake Claiborne. It was even raining all day, and it was still really warm. If this keeps up, we will be on a summer pattern in 2 weeks.

Wesley, yelp the very back ;)

When the lake level was down these areas were bone dry & grass grew everywhere but with level @ 171 it's a brand new area.

Wookie, San Miguel, 1215 H-way, Lanan, Pendleton Bridge area temps are running around 66 on the main lake & 72 in the creeks.

The south end is running in the mid 60s on the main lake & upper 60s/low 70s in the creeks. I don't remember which day but I read 73.

Oh yea! If y'all ain't familiar with the back of Housen' use extreme caution because the boat lane ends long before you get to the back.

We are launching out of Jack's 944 Marina @ the end of hey 944

We are fishing out a shallow water marsh boat, Xpress HD16VJ, Merc 40 Hp 2-stroke & 101 lb Minn Kota, so getting in & out of skinny water ain't a problem.

that is one of my favorite areas to fish. Also the back of Sandy creek. I haven't been to either one yet this year though. Hope it is a good lily pad year!

Fuel For Boat - $168.30

Fuel For Truck - $ 71.06

Zoom Brush Hogs - $ 19.26

Lake Level- 171

Flipping Brush while your two favorite companion's soak up the spring sun. - Priceless !!

Short Report - I have been flipping bushes from Bison down to Indian Mounds and a few places in between

( Lowe's and Sammy Gil ) , catching quality fish, all on Watermelon Red Baby Brush hogs, tail dipped.

Early morning bite for a couple of hours, picked back up late afternoon.

I know more fish were being caught in shallow flats, however keeper fish / per hook up were more consistant for me

staying in the bushes and bank shallow behind the bushes.

P.S. - Topped my personal Big Bass from last year on the bend of 7.5 with a new PB of 9.1, caught 3 weeks ago in Lanana on

1/2 ounce Booyah spinner bait. Its only taken me 51 years !!!

I sure do miss Jacks insite to the Carrice Creek area, I am still hunting the two little ditches he did so well in.

I have increased my PB big bass the last two years by 3+ lbs, 99% of the credit goes out to all the supporters of this

forum. I regret I don't have internet service at the camp, so i could report more often.

Thanks again ! brother members.

Oh yea I have some friends who read this but refuse to post, they informed me that I owed 6-mile c-rig an apology & proceeded to name several places I did not check for bass on nest.

So 6-mile I stand corrected ;)

I'll be up that way Friday and Saturday...staying at Cypress Bend, but will probably spend all day Saturday in Six Mile, Housen, and Oil Well...If ya see a red/black/white Triton TR19 w/200 Yammie HPDI stop by and say hello.

Are the shad spawning yet? I know its a little early, but with everything else spawining early I figure the shad should be about ready to start...

The 2012 spawn started around 2/20 with the lake level @ 165.47

By 3/20 the lake's level was @ 169.43

That is a 3.96 rise in 30 days

Today the lake is @ 170.73 with heavy rains all across the region

So what we have is bass building nest @ 165.47, these bass stayed on these nest. As the lake level come up the bass would build nest @ various levels. Since bass spawn in waves we ended with a trail of nests.

Going to run the boat and maybe fish a little on the Calcasieu, then packing the truck to head out tomorrow. Im gonna be at the bend till the 14th, so hopefully ill get something going. Oh how I've been waiting on this vacation.

I will be out and about this weekend also. Maybe monday also. Launch out of Army rec. White triton TR20. I am the one that looks like he knows what he is doing but really doesn't! I had some good success on the south side of housen with traps over grass on points last weekend. Didn't get one bite on a C rig or a texas rig. I may be fishing too deep too early. I wanna try flippin this weekend cause I am starting to get the hang of it. I also wanna start exploring new areas of the lake I haven't fished before. This is my 5th season on the bend so I have a lot to learn still.

fishnla, are they allowing boat traffic on the Calcasieu?

Yankee, you fishing east or west of Fin-N-Feather?

If you start at the buoy out in front of F-N-F heading west, at the 2nd or 3 rd buoy looking left/south you will notice where stumps start (@ least when the water was lower).

I start here in 15' of water and work west for the next 2 points.

Has anyone tried the flat straight across from F-N-F?

i have fished it several times this year but i've only pulled one 7lb off of it... so far... I have caught alot of fish there just no size, but i havent committed a full day there i've just been hitting it for an hour or two during the day

TBendBassin, that is one of those places I'll not spend more than a couple hours on but it's usually good for a decent kicker.

The south bank area I described is good for numbers of decent keepers & an occasional kicker.
