Super User Catt Posted March 21, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 21, 2012 Ops This why I'm fishing 6-8' & catching bigger bass & why I'm planning on moving to 8-12' soon. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Good point Catt...I thought about that last week, but couldnt buy a fish in deeper water, then moved up in the hay grass and started catch some good fish...one that went 5lbs. I do beleive that most fish have spawned out by now and are headed deeper. The shad spawn should be early this year too, so the grass in 8 fow should hold some hungry bass feeding on shad! Get your jerbaits and flukes ready!! Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 21, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 21, 2012 The Bream spawn will be early as well Quote
Wesley Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Gonna go out in the morning and try to find some fish for a tournament sunday. Hope to find some early morning top water action and then back off into 8-12 foot with a jig and c-rig. Quote
Dam Yankee Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 They started generating. 24 hrs. till further notice. Gotta get out there. Quote

Wesley Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 So how'd you do?? Not to well, tried deep, top water, shallow, dynamite, nothing was working well. Saw a few on beds and caught a 3 shallow. A 4 won the weekly big bass tourney out of alpine this evening. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 25, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 25, 2012 For the majority post-spawn, post frontal & this ole Catt stayed home! Quote

Ranger Jim Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Six Mile , Where were you fishing last Saturday? What were you throwing. We fished North and struggled . Quote
six-mile C-Rig Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 fished housen and 6mile.... flipped buck brush all day... almost all fish were caught in 1-2 fow.. I MEAN SHALLOW!!!!... we flipped our baits as far back into the brush we could.. some of the fish were in water as shallow as 8-10 inches.... there was lots of other boats near us and i noticed they were struggling, mainly because they weren't fishing shallow enough, most of them were just casting up to the bushes, not back behind them.... we saw upwards of 40 beds in the 3-4 foot of water range, but those fish were simply uncatchable.. they had seen hundreds of baits and boats, and they were spooked.... Super User Catt Posted March 27, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 27, 2012 Beding bass in Housen' & 6-mile? Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 27, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 27, 2012 You maybe catching bass in shollow buck brush but doubt they are on beds. I live in the Housen' - 6 mile area Quote
Dam Yankee Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Fished yesterday. Didn't do well. Should have saved my gas money. The biggest fish I saw was when I launched at the rec site. Bout a 4 pounder in about 6 inches of water with a bunch of babies. Could have netted it from the bank as I walked right up to it. Watched it for a little while. Looked like she was trying to lead them somewhere. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 27, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 27, 2012 No doubt about it about males are guarding fry but nest behind buck brush! First the 1-2' of water behind the buck brush was not there 2-3 weeks ago. The nests in Housen' & 6-Mile were at or near the front of the buck brush because this is the water lever was. As the level rose the bass did not pickup & move their nest. The higher level has scattered the bass into the buck brush but these are males. Quote
six-mile C-Rig Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 not trying to start a debate... but 13-14 of the 30+ fish we caught were females that still had eggs in them..... Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 28, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 28, 2012 You are the only person on the entire lake reporting this I heard some outstanding reports from friends who have started night fishing tonight with buzz baits. There also a report of a 10 year old girl who landed a 10+ while fishing with guide Joe Jostling. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 28, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 28, 2012 Joe Joslin, I hate touch screens Quote
Ranger Jim Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Catt, I have to agree with Six Mile. Not all of the bass have spawned we are still catching bass full of eggs. Fished in the Cameron Valve tournament last weekend 47 boats. Lots of bass weighed in had eggs. Quote

hobo1616 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 My partner fished yesterday evening in the hickory ridge area. He only fished 2 hours and had 9 legal fish a 3.7, 5.8 and the rest in the 2-3lb range. Caught all on flukes in 2 ft or less water. Several could have been males but I doubt the 5.8 and 3.7 were.
