Headed out tomorrow. I have a spook tied on along with a weightless fluke, spinnerbait, Texas rig w/senko, ribbit. Don't have a pointer. have to stop and see if tidbits has anything similar. I will be keying in on wind blown grass edges and points.

Do yourself a favor and get a pointer or rogue. I caught 75 fish Saturday on a spook and pointer (mostly on pointer). I had caught like 5 fish in 6 or 7 minutes on the pointer when a 4lber grabbed it with only about 2 foot of line out and broke it off. I didn't have another one so I tied on a fluke. Didnt catch another fish.

I bought 5 pointers today... :D

I am going to look at tidbits on the way for a pointer or something similar. Thanks for the tip ***atic.

Im launching out of white oak. The river is safe to run, but I dont run in anything less than 20 ft. I saw 2 huge stumps in the boat lane between white oak and housen.

Today did not go as well as last time. Bright sky, minimal wind, and crystal clear water. We caught about 10 apiece. My partner catching the biggest about 4 lbs. Almost netted a bigger bass while nettin the 4 lber. that was chasin. I plan on going tomorrow also as it looks like the wind will be a little better and some clouds in the mix. Thinkin about launchin at white oak but never been there before. Is there concrete under your tires still on the boat trailer? I am not even sure where it is at.

No, there is not concrete under your tires at White oak, but they put gravel down and it has been working fine. THere must have been 40 boats launched there Saturday. I have had no trouble getting my 20 ft. Nitro out with my Dodge 1500 2wd.

Thanks for the report Yankee. I am heading that way this weekend and would like to know how you do if you go back out. So can you get to the mouth of Hurricane from White Oak fairly easily or should I stick with Indian Mounds?

The owner of Fox's Lodge told me the day before yesterday the North Housen boat lane across Community Hole is dry and this extends almost half way to the south shore.

I guess thats what happens when the lake is down almost 12 feet. I havent been up there since July. Looking forward to seeing the lake and taking some pictures. Oh and catching a fish or twenty...

After seeing how far i would have to drive to get to white oak I decided to stay south and launch at site 7. I saw people runnung the louisiana boat lanes north of the island to toro and running the lanes in toro! Somebody is gonna get hurt bad and I sure thought I would see it but not today. There are huge stumps all over the place.

Fishing was good. had 3 4 lbers. and a few keepers and little guys. and then the wind came out of the north and the rollers had rollers. That was a long trip back. Spinnerbait and a ribbit frog produced my biggest fish. Good ripple near grass with cloud cover just before the wind and water got too big.

Sounds like a good trip Yankee. Sounds like the ribbit bite is picking back up, thats good to hear. I will be back next Wednesday for sure and possible Monday.

I would have stayed all day if that north wind hadn't picked up as much as it did. That couple of hours of cloud cover before that and a good ripple next to grass really turned em on. It was fun.

One thing I noticed.....the bigger fish are eating brim.

Gotta cut firewood the next couple days before i go back out.

Update for everyone:

I was so looking forward in coming to the Bend and fishing BassChamps Championship this year. As you know they moved it to Rayburn due to the low water levels.

Well long story short, the fish gods blessed us and we won BassChamps East Region on Sam Rayburn Oct 1-2.

Here is the link to the story:

Here is the link to the video and phots of us and the boat:

Looking forward to getting back to the bend soon.

Even with the cooler temperatures, is night fishing good with the full moon?

Went back today. My dad and I were suppose to leave at 4 this morning, but my grandpa ended up having to get a pacemaker put in at 6:30 so we waited around for that. He didnt get through surgery until 1:00 p.m. so we headed out then. Got on the lake about 3:30 p.m. and fished till 7:00. Caught 38, biggest being around 3lbs. Caught them on spooks, pointers, and a RES.
