Yeah it was the one in between youcum creek and arnold creek that I did not know the name. Must be the Diamond creek that you speek of. I will be back there this weekend and will try to figure it out. Plan on launching at Big Bass.

I was wondering what had the water so stirred up..With all that grass i figured it should be very clean. Thanks for the tip on the points. I plan on working that skinny dipper through all that grass for practice. Has the top water bite been on in there over that matted grass?

Ish hit a 10-15! I have to ask Catt what is your PB on the bend? He also lost about 11,000 dollars in rods and reels! EDIT: Catt I bet you even know where the spot Ish described is haha.

noticed what looked like an old bridge under the surface. So, I flipped my lizard (Berkley 6-inch, watermelon) to the structure and felt the bite. I set the hook and the fish didn't budge," Monroe explained. Problem was, there was a thousand pounds of concrete between him and what he felt like was a truly huge bass.

My personal best on Toledo Bend 12 lbs 8 ozs caught in February on a trap!

I’ve recognized several spots from the on the water videos & I aint saying which ones!

If Ish stays in that area look for more 10s

The wind is killing the best bite…main lake ;)

You were darn close Catt! Lost by an ounce. You know that place too well it's kinda scary! Hopefully one day I'll be able to learn a body of water that well. I'm headed to Texas tomorrow for a week! Hopefully I can stick one like Ish did...in my dreams!

I've been reading this thread for a long time and I've posted a few times as well..invaluable information. Figured I'd share my report from the last several days. I was there Thursday - Sunday for fishing and to watch the Elite Series guys. Here's what happened for us in our boat..

Thursday - 40 fish total, 15 keepers. Fished Palo Gaucho. Caught fish on so many different baits that day...Pop-R early, senkos and brush hogs a little later, traps after that, then spinnerbaits in the late afternoon

Friday - 33 fish total, 11 keepers. Fished Indian Mounds area in the morning, caught 25 fish with 8 keepers in that area. Caught pop-R fish early, then all the rest of our fish came on traps near a main lake point where we found them grouped up. Fished Palo Gaucho again in the late afternoon, caught 8 more with 3 more keepers mostly on spinnerbaits and brush hogs.

Saturday - 18 fish total, 5 keepers. Fished Palo Gaucho area in the morning and caught majority of our fish on spinnerbaits early(no pop-R fish), then plastics, then traps. Lost two BIG fish that morning, one on a spinnerbait that pulled off and one on a trap where I couldn't turn the fish and it wrapped me up in a tree and popped off. Caught 15 fish with 3 keepers in Palo that morning. Fished Negreet area late that afternoon and caught 3 fish with 2 keepers there, 2 on traps and 1 on spinnerbait.

Sunday morning only - 18 fish total, 5 keepers. Fished Palo Gaucho area again and caught most of our fish on senkos and RC shallow crankbaits.

Totals.. 109 fish, 36 keepers.

We didn't have any big fish other than several in the 3 lb class. I lost my two chances at big fish Saturday morning. Our patterns were basically points and secondary points and covering water. I saw water temps as high as 76 degrees Thursday and Friday and as low as 69 degrees Sunday morning. Had a great time at the Bend and learned a lot! Can't wait to go back. Luckily, I'll be back in 2 weeks for another go at it.

Best Lures:

1/2 oz Gold Shad Rat-L-Trap

1/2 oz Stanley Double Willow Spinnerbait(white)

1/4 oz Xcalibur ZellPop(shad)

Wat/red brush hog

Wat/red senko

Frog11, excellent report ;)

Typical post spawn fishing lots of number, not much size, & lots of patterns working!

The big girls have been hard to get to lately with all the wind. I will be on Toledo next week...Catt, what depth should I focus in on to find a big un or two? I know I can move shallow (4-6ft.) and catch numbers and a 3 or 4 here and there by fishing the shad spawn, but were do you think all the big post spawn females are?

I've backed off to my summer patterns in 12-18’ ;)

Thanks Catt, I will look around in those depths to start off. That lake has been getting pounded by anglers, so I want to find some fish that arent as pressured.

With all the recent winds main lake fish have not been pressured at all ;)

There was no main lake for us this past weekend. Stayed in Yocum creek and caught quite a few but no size..

Posted

Fished Pirates until the wind picked up Sunday and the couple I caught were bigger fish. Was fishing a 7' grass flat between two deep channels and picked up a couple pretty quick then left when the wind got bad.

Posted

Yea Im hoping the wind lays down a bit for me next week. I got a couple of spots around Boones Crossing and Patroon/1215 area I wouldn't mind hitting. Sounds like the numbers are shallow, but the size is deep.

Yep. We plan to have one boat working shallow and two deep.. :D

NOt a bad plan...getting a limit and catching 3 kickers each day will get you in the money!
