If you remember seeing a red and silver stratos that was me. Our report - area - Same, 3-530pm depth - 13-16 ft, just off of point cover - heavy timber and scattered grass lures - 1/2oz carolina watermelon brushhog, black/blue jig w/ same color crawfish trailer. 8 fish, biggest was just over 4lb. i was really hoping with the warmer weather the trap bite would have been on, but it never materialized. Most fish were on c-rig, but bigger came on jig/craw Quote

bayouXpress Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 man, i don't even know him, but feel really bad about jack's passing.. puts everything in perspective. I really followed his post hard because of the area he fished.. Well, we are scheduled for march 23-27 for our annual trip to the bend. I was lucky enough to get Joe Joslin scheduled for the friday. This is the 3rd time I go over this thread. I can't say thanks enough. I just need to translate all the data over to the water. Its just a different animal once your out there. Also, excited to see how and where the pros fish for the classic since i'm sure several will be in areas i fish and can't wait to see what they do on the bend. Quote
Dam Yankee Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Got the boat back together and ran it weekend before last. Gonna hit the water Sunday and Monday. Still hunting that elusive double digit wallhanger. From what I hear this is the best time of the year to do it. I don't fish tournaments or anything I just like to fish. I don't have a clue as to what to do or where to go. Haven't been fishing on the Bend since the first week or so of December and I did well in a couple spots in Housen. I got the rest of the week to go back through this thread and get myself in the ballpark. I hope this thread never gets deleted!! Thanks to all who have contributed here. Hopefully I can do the same. Super User Catt Posted February 13, 2011 Author Super User Posted February 13, 2011 Fishing during pre-spawn is very much about stability as in stable weather which produces stable lake conditions; it can be cold weather along as it stable. Many anglers are concerned water temperature but what they need to know is what the water temperature was for the last 3 days. Is it rising, falling, or stable? Rising and stable will move the bass shallower while falling backs them off to deeper water. The grass line at 8' is a break line between shallow and deep water, position your boat where you can reach 3-4' beyond the grass line. Casting will be done parallel to, on top of & beyond the grass line, and out deeper. Other area to key in on is inside grass lines that have depth to them and start looking far Buck/Button Willows. A pre-spawn tip: learn how to helicopter/flutter a spinner bait/trap Quote
six-mile C-Rig Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Speaking of stable weather..... Highs around 70 all week, untill sunday. Man, i can't wait till i retire and can fish on weekdays!!! this warming trend will definitely bring more people to the lake is anyone fishin the budlight trail tourney the 19th at South TB state partk? This will also be my first trip on the water after switching gears from hunting to fishing. Hopefully this warm weather will make for a good weekend of fishing and I'll be sure to post my report on Monday. If anyone has any helpful hints on what to key on I am all ears. Quote
