RonnieF Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Great. I've spent a few years fishing around the Indian Mounds, since I have a camper at Turtle Beach. But I'm getting a camp on San Miguel and will have to invest some time learning this new area. Do bass use roadbeds in the fall, like they do in the spring? Catt, I saw you fished SW La. also. So did I, from the Big Burns, Streeter's canal, Lac. pool, and Miami on the east side of Grand Lake. Thanks, Ronnie Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 29, 2010 Author Super User Posted October 29, 2010 Right now the old road beds in the San Miguel and La Nana bayous are producing numbers but not many big fish, Carolina rigs is the #1 technique. Rita & Ike completely killed the Big Burns but Lacassine is still producing big bass! Here's another secret Quote
Woody12 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Gentlemen... this is great stuff. I just stumbled across this site by accident! I used to fish Toledo Bend as a kid in the 80's with my grandfather. We mainly fished up in Palo Gaucho, only because we didn't have enough boat to venture out much. Regardless, we caught a LOT of quality fish and made some great memories back then. My grandpa is 84 now, and I'm taking my 12 year old next weekend (11/6 & 11/7) so that we can all 3 go out together. We'll launch there in the Palo Gaucho, just as we always did as a kid. I'm gonna need some help from you guys so I can put them on some fish. I don't know how many more of these opportunities we'll get to all go together. Again... thanks for all the great stuff! RonnieF Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 A few weeks ago I did well on the Mermentau river on points. That river was messed up by the hurricanes also. Ronnie Quote

JBF Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Catt, Are you using the ring worm with a Carolina rig? Also what size weight and hook? Thanks, JBF Quote
bcody Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Well, I just got back from Toledo, now I am lucky enough to go back. My 5 year anniversary is the weekend of the 12th. I rented a cabin that's 6-7 miles north of pendleton bridge on the texas side. I have never really fished that far north before as I usually stay in negreet and fish around there. With the water being super low, any advice is appreciated. Thanks again for creating this thread.  Quote

Super User Catt Posted November 2, 2010 Author Super User Posted November 2, 2010 bcody, what marina? Quote
bcody Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Not sure if it's considered a marina, but the place we'll be staying is called emerald cove. Quote
fishingcajun Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I stayed at Emerald Cove a couple of times, in the Duplex. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. They have a private launch on site, but i would guess it is high and dry by now. The creek that runs back into Patroon passes closer to the south side, or opposite side of Emerald Cove. Holly Park Marina is just across the bridge from Emerald Cove, you could call them to check if their launch is still accessible. Caught some fish in the coves south of the bridge, Texas side, small coves just north of Palo-Gaucho, just off of Spring Hill Boat lane. Watermelon Red, swimming senko, senkos, and baby brush hogs. Super User Catt Posted November 2, 2010 Author Super User Posted November 2, 2010 bcody, James Gaines Boat Lane from the mouth of Corsey Creek south to the intersection with the North-South boat lane. Check out the creek coves on the south side of Patroon Quote
bcody Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I'll have to get the map out and check it out. I really appreciate it as this is the 2nd time you've helped me out. Quote
fishingcajun Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Good call, Catt I fished those the points of those coves my last trip, picked up a few, but was searching more than fishing. How about the grass beds Texas side of James Gaines boat lanes, there was plenty of fish on them a month ago, but i didn't try last trip. Quote
fishingcajun Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Question: To all the experts. Decided to sink a couple of trees this past summer. I have caught descent bass on the one tree 4 out of 5 trips. My question is: I placed three trees in one spot. However one of them ended up on the creek bank, 10-12' now, and the other two down the creek bank or on bottom17-19' . I was curious if anyone had better luck on the tree tops above the structure line or break, or along the deeper side. I have caught 95% on this spot off of the shallower tree, on top of the structure line. I would like to try a few more artificial holes. Any advice, thanks. Quote
fishingcajun Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Catt, How has the recent rains affected the lake, have you been on the lake, or do you have most recent lake info. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 3, 2010 Author Super User Posted November 3, 2010 I never sink brush but I do know where some white perch holes are and visit them quite often. Which ones are more productive depends on many factors just like any given cover/structure, what's hot this morning maybe stone cold this afternoon. The reports I've received on the James Gaines Boat Lane area has been about the points with nothing on the grass beds. As of: 11/03/2010 6:30 a.m. the lake level is 164.24 up from 164.08 on Sunday, which means the rain has little to no effect. While I may not be on the lake as often as I would like I do talk to friends who live on the lake daily. Most of my trips lately are done on the spur of the moment making it hard to meet up with y'all. But any fishing reports I post are either first hand or from extremely reliable sources and are usually hours old. Some reports are from friends who call me while out on the lake, especially big bass or big numbers, they like rubbing in my face on occasion. Quote
