Ha ha sorry. Seems like I messed it all up. I do that a lot. Here’s a simple tip if you use stoppers to flip. Especially if you use two and change weights a lot. Get you one of them sewing needles, small as possible, as long as the line will go thru the end. You can reuse them you know. Y’all welcome ?

That's a good tip thank you.

I been useing bombers stops on my swim baits lately as well to protect the knot a bit better due too all the brush and grass it goes through.

Wow shocked to see some friction on here, always been a great and friendly thread! Hope mature and good hearted bass fishing heads come through, as I’m sure they will. Fished in San Pat with my good buddy at his camp. Very muddy water, as I expected, but still caught several. Watermelon red and plum apple brush hogs were great over the weekend and through today. Fished deep in the flooded brush and trees due to the wind and high water. No big fish to brag on but a lot of fun catching 14-17 inchers all day. Good luck my friends. I’ll be back down Thursday to play in front of this cold front coming ?

You’re welcome Blaster. Two stops work great especially with a skirt. While I can’t sleep, here’s another one. Believe it or not, a small, and I mean small dab of shaving cream takes all the hard water stains and streaks out of any depth finder screen. I clean it first but I don’t think it’s necessary. Ole school regular barbasol is what I use. Really amazing.

I said that after two months of frustration. Shouldn’t have but who’s perfect?  On one hand I want to help everybody that helped me. Over half of them are gone from here and even one passed away. Also, like to try to help everybody BUT I also like to fish in peace and don’t want to be 1 of  about 5 giving reports out of the million reading it. I don’t fish tournaments but when I get to fish, I prepare and fish like it’s for 100 grand. I love it even though it hurts me, severely. Can’t do it like I used to so it’s even more valuable to me. Just for the record, I know people that fish with Bassfanatic and I know it sounds crazy but the young fella ain’t bs’ing. That’s all... almost time to go fish lol

Here's a simple tip on bobber stops.

Why take em off?

When I change weights or lures I simply slide up the line & then back down when done tying.

I may be going up to TB in a couple weeks.  Someone was telling me that currently the public launches are closed, and only locals are allowed to fish in the lake.  This doesn't sound accurate to me, but I wanted to double check before making my final plans.

Long time reader/follower,  Thank You everyone for posting. Catt and many others , I've learned alot about the Bend.

There  last week it was tough for us, few caught , winds were High, .

Have tried different stoppers,  most dont hold well on 15-20 # line, with 1/2 oz weight , found a newer brand, that is marked large and X large ,  will try next outing.  is there a brand or size I'm not finding That works ?

Catt, I use one above and one below the weight. Also, for when you change the line or add a leader you can save them. Otherwise, I do what you said.

Wes, I like 6th sense stoppers.

Troy, the landings are open on the Texas side.

Troy

As of today I don't know of any public boat ramps that are closed.

But I believe that Sabine parish is still closed at the moment and no rentals are aloud, but could be wrong on that.

Thanks.  I messaged a camp owner on AirBnb, they said rentals opened up on May 1.

Interesting! I only use one above the weight & none on 3/8 oz or less.

6th sense for sure ?

Caught 2 last Saturday in shallow muddy water on texas rigged plastics.

Most of the day was spent idling and looking at electronics. Looking for fish in 10+ fow is a test of patience. I do stop and wet a hook every once in awhile just to practice techniques and hoping to get lucky to put one in the boat occasionally.

Gonna be getting hot soon. That will end the all day fishing trips to mid lake. Thinking of launching from Jolly Rodgers, only 1 hour from the house, when summer comes around. 2 hour round trip drive for 5 - 6 hours of fishing sounds good. The 1 hour round trip for 5 - 6 hours of fishing on Caddo sounds a little better. Might try every other weekend between the lakes.

A friend is coming this Saturday. He takes 'em home, fries 'em up and eats 'em. I think 14" and above can be kept, is that true? And the limit is... 5 per person in the boat?

With a Snell knot Does the lower stop interfere with the trajection of the hook on a set? Normally the hook will catapult straight up.

Anything 1/2oz or less I don't peg.

Jaws, yes it does. If you like the snell knot don’t use two. I don’t trust a snell knot with fluorocarbon. I use it only with braid.

Sorry Doug, I have a hound dog and didn’t mention it because you said fool proof.

So I decided to say the heck with it.

I'm not going to hide from a snake.

Hit the water at 11 today. Ran over too my fav hump, positioned the boat, locked in spot lock and sat till around 5 this afternoon

Did not boat a single legal keeper but still had a blast smashing 71 dinks today.

Some came on cranks, maybe 20 are so, the rest came off a watermelon red baby brush hog, Texas rigged with a size 2 hook and 3/16 onze weight.

14 foot of water.

Went snoop around Indian Creek. Never been. It’s like an entirely different place. Figured with that blue sky all them docks would be better. Caught a 4 pounder and a 2 pounder no where near a dock. Saw some good ones too. More to figure out lol
