jcdogfish Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 All this heat got me thinking about ya'll. Just dropped in to say hello. I'm thinking about looking for another place up there. Even though the fishing down here has been great, I kinda miss the old pond. 1 Quote
airborneduckhunter Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Fished for a few hours yesterday morning in Pirates Cove area. Missed 4 on topwater frog around some grass. Caught one a 6XD Crankbait near an island by main channel. Hard to focus with my 3 boys in the boat. Thankful it wasn't extremely windy though. My first trip to the bend this year. Gonna try again soon. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 11, 2019 Author Super User Posted July 11, 2019 Had an interesting discussion with a friend after church tonight! Â Y'all ever throw a soft-bodied popping frog at night? Â He caught on shallow main lake flats, shallow flats in major creeks, & back into creeks. Â I saw pictures of a 30#+ stringers ? 2 Quote

But I have layed down some nice bass with the old black and red flake and blue flake ribbet frog at night. 2 Quote
Amateur Hour Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Not at night but I have thrown it in the early morning when it was pitch black. They seem to miss it more, but I have caught some good ones. Quote
BayBoatFisherman Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Been awhile since I had anything to share, but that has changed this past couple of weeks! Found fish on a ridge in 28 fow. Started with c-rigged baby brush hog, once the fish where located moved over the top of them and started drop shoting a Adam Red Dawn robo worm. I have been cathing 15 to 25 in about 2 hours each time the wind would let me out there. It is tough to fish with white caps, but they still bite! Best summer up here for me in a long time. The fish are mixed from about 2.25 to 3.5 lbs, so nothing huge but really fun to catch. I am on the south end of the lake. Took a couple of guys out yesteday evening, they had nver fished the drop shot, and had a blast. Caught 28 fish from 6pm to 7:45. 3 Quote
A5BLASTER Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Y'all don't even have to ask. Y'all know I was out in that. Cloudy weather and misty rain busting their butts with the white and chartreuse baby ribbet frog. 1 Quote
RCCA Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Hey, anybody in here got that Humminbird Fishsmart app?  Does it really offer Lakemaster maps?  It’s 30 bucks for The Bend and I can’t take that chance unless y’all Humminbird people say it’s worth it. 1 Quote

RCCA Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Thanks T Boy. Appreciate ya. Looks pretty good. How accurate are the roadbeds and creek channels? My Navionics maps are about 200 feet off is the reason I ask. Thanks again. 2 Quote
Amateur Hour Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 Yeah, lakemaster for Toledo is awesome both in your unit and mobile. 2 Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted July 20, 2019 Super User Posted July 20, 2019 @Lil Joe The Grinder I have found the maps I use to be very accurate.  I have found errors with them but they are much better than anything else I’ve used.  Every lake is different though.   I’ve never been a fan of Navionics maps.  2 Quote
RCCA Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 I have Lowrance units so I’m stuck with Navionics. It’s ok but I wouldn’t mind looking at something new on my phone during the dog days. 1 Quote

RCCA Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Thanks Jc. Very nice offer. Don’t really have room. I’ll just check it out on my phone until I win the lottery and can upgrade my boat. Are you still interested in finding a spot around Six Mile? 1 Quote
jcdogfish Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Still kicking it around. Wife says its gotta be on the water with nice view. Her idea of a camp and mine are 2 different things?. Looking around here too. For the work involved in owning a camp, renting a place is pretty cheap. 2 Quote
RCCA Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 Thank y’all. I bought it. Well worth it. No doubt about it, the contour lines are way better ? Quote
Walkerhuntfish Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 I want to start by saying I’ve followed this thread for a long time and greatly appreciate all the knowledge you guys have shared. I’ve been the typical south Louisiana bank beater all my life fishing the bayous and marshes but have been trying to learn the offshore side of things to become more productive on TB since we have a place there about 10 years ago. But my question for this post is how does the night fishing differ on a new moon oppose to the full moon and what is some of you guy thoughts on techniques change accordingly? I realize silhouette and the visibility side of things are different but what else? Everybody gets fired up on full moon but not much talk of new moon.  1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 28, 2019 Author Super User Posted July 28, 2019 I fish the same techniques, same lures, & same location at night as I do during the day. Â Bass do not morph into a new creature just because the sun set! Â Google night fishing bassresource & you'll find plenty discussion on the subject. 1 Quote
Progator Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019  Much like Walker above, I've always been a bank beater and willing to learn as well, this thread has been a good read over the years, but now its time to put it to good use. Will be on TB Aug 1st-4th with family and we are staying at a VRBO in San Miguel. Some nice quick depth changes/points going to flats in bottom right(arrows), bend in channel mid screen and some water deep next to an island. Also, left side of screen, shore with a long flat area that drops quickly toward channel. I don't know TB at all, are these some areas that anyone would suggest for some morning, evening into night areas? I tried to pick these spots based on info from the thread like 22-28 fow near deeper water, points..etc.  Thanks 1 Quote
