I haven’t been to the backs yet, but continue to catch fish about 1/2 way back in major creeks. Creek swings have been the best bite, but I did find quite a bit of fish on ledges today too. Caught some good fish today on a jig.

When it comes to pre-spawn/spawn everyone says the bass move into the creeks. Starting at the major points at the mouth & eventually moving to the back.

My question is what about the bass that are already in the creek & live there year round?

Where do they move to?

Take Housen' Bayou for instance, there's bass that spawn all over Housen' from the mouth to the back while never going up any of the smaller creeks.

Just some of the dumb **** I think about ?

True.

But a wise man once said for every bass caught on the bank there is 5 behind him in deep water. Lol

I think maybe bass are similar to redfish and speckled trout.  There are always small reds in the marsh, and small specks stay in as much as they can. The mature fish go in and out to do their thing. For example, the spot Catt's report came from.  I've caught fish there year round, and a few good ones.  But either the numbers of mature fish move out to main lake or larger creeks or the shallower resident fish just get beat up more. At least in my experience the larger numbers of nice fish are in the last outside third of the larger creeks or on the main lake most of the year.

Ended the day around 4 pm with 22 fish boated with a 25# sack. Fish were caught in 6-8'

I have an unverified report of a 10#+ somewhere in the 1215 area.

@A5BLASTER is that you ?

Yup... I gotta clue! If you see an old fart in a Gambler headed to the back of six mile - head for the mouth of six mile. Orrrrrr... if you see an old fart in a Gambler headed up lake - make tracks down lake. Orrrrrr - better yet... if you see an old fart in a Gambler putting in on Toledo - head for Rayburn!!!!! You can thank me later! ?

I'm thinking creek channels in the 8 to 12 foot range just inside cove mouths, consintrating on the wind blow side where bait will be stacked up.

Crig and crankbaits is how I will be rolling, if I do go.

Lake level is down to 172.17

Both generators running 24 hrs

Five gates open a foot

With the rain & freezing temperatures yesterday, I texted for reports

All I got was

I am headed back up late today, will still be looking in the 15 to 25 ft points. Will move shallower if nothing shows on the graph. I don't care about no stinkin rain. Will be drop-shotting an C-rig, maybe a deep diver.
