We used Preston antifreeze jugs for years ?

I just so happen to have a few of those laying around for use as trotline markers.

If you need one holla at me when you get up this way, amateur hour.

Preston antifreeze jugs were used for two purposes, mark trotlines or stumps.

FYI, if you see jugs marking trotlines out on the main lake I'll bet ya it's on a ridge!

I wonder how many people know there are 2 big ridges right outside north Toledo bend state park boat ramp and boat run?

Probably not many!

I could give y'all a dozen spots that are in or just off boat lanes.

Ever heard of Harper's Ridge crossover?  ?

Ha! Last 3 times I fished near here over the years.  I always saw a boat fishing out where I think you're talking about, I went and checked it out on day when there wasn't anyone fishing it and saw the bridge on my electronics.  If its the same one, it was in like 30ish fow.  I didn't fish it because I didn't really know how.  It was before I had discovered this site, and pretty much just beat the bank for all my fish.

No I sure haven't Catt.

I always wondered why I don't ever see people fishing those 2 ridges yet I always catch some there. Haven't yet pulled anything of great size off them but get good 2 to 4 pounders off them often enough to fish it when the wind is right.

Key word's (right wind direction) and speed since my boat doesn't have all the new fancy gear to sit there in heavy chop.

Tryed it with my anchor but I lost it due to getting hung up in a stump, will put more time in on them this prespawn and post spawn.

If ya learned the lake launching on the Louisiana side ya might know it as Boone's Crossover!

The first time I actually fished a roadbed was in this area, my first 15 bass limit was caught here, my first 6# bass on Toledo Bend was caught here.

There's ridges, humps, roadbeds. railroad beds, river channel.

Definitely worth learning ?

A5, I fish that ridge every single time I am out there.  I launch out of the park and look at it on my way out and in my way in.  If I see some fish I stop.  I usually do pretty well, but like you said no real quality.

Catt, where is Boone’s crossing?  Is it the next big point south of TN bay?

Harper's Ridge is the point located on the north end of Indian Mounds. Boone's Landing is the point located between Caney Creek & Arnold Creek.

I learned it as Harper's Ridge crossover, it's a east/west boat lane the is actually the Sabine River. It's one of the shortest if not the shortest distance to cross lake making it ideal in rough water.

Look at it on whatever map or mapping system ya got keeping in mind the lake is at 168.77'.

Boone’s is on the LA side. It’s directly across the lake from that boat road running E/W in your pic

@Bass_Fanatic ya ever fish that area?

I don’t fish it a lot, but I do have a couple spots I check with my graph when I run past it.  I’ve caught some good fish there before.

I used to fish it quite a bit when I had a camper at Turtle Beach. Caught a few decent fish there plus a lot of schoolers (keeper Kentuckys). I spent most of my time by the intersection, but I did occasionally fish the humps southeast of the N/S midlake boat lane. I've heard they were good night time fishing spots too, although I never tried.

Here is how Saturday went for me.

Leave north Toledo bend state park for TN bay

graph TN bay, nothing

to to millionaires point

graph millionaire point, nothing

go back to TN bay

graph TN bay, nothing

go to community hole by the bridge

graph community hole, nothing

go to Lanan

graph lanan, nothing

go by NTBSP

catch some rats

go to patroon

graph patroon, nothing

go to Jane Gaines

graph Jane Gaines, nothing

go back to NTBSP

 catch a bunch more rats

Quit

pretty disappointing and today wasn’t much better.  I did not see any groups of fish anywhere except my trusty rats at NTBSP.

I will give it another shot in 2 weeks.  If it doesn’t get better I may give it a break.

I fished Saturday from 7am to 1pm. I started at the mouth of Bull and had 8 fish before 9am. I was fishing the edge of a creek channel in 10-15 fow. The edge of the channel had to have stumps or some type of wood to get bit. The bite was real light. Then they just turned off or I didn't make the right adjustments. I moved to the mouth of Housen where there are a few humps on the south side (nothing). Finished up on a few ridges on 6-mile (nothing). All fish were caught on a TR 7" green pumpkin thumper worm with 3/16oz weight.

@Amateur Hour ya didn't try coves?

I went about halfway back into patroon and San Miguel on Sunday morning.  I did not go into any smaller creeks.  Thought about going to slaughter and now I regret not going.

Here was my track.  60+ miles and the only fish I caught were about 100 yards from where I launched.
