Trying to setup a trip to Toledo Bend this October.  Thinking of staying at Fin and Feather.  I was checking out their website, looks like a nice place.  Anyone here stayed their recently and can give me some first hand info on their experience?

Edit: Past few years I have stayed at AirBnbs on San Miguel.  I was looking to change it up this year.

Heading up in the morning to pick up the boat and bring it south to install new electronics.  May fish tomorrow afternoon, but just around the house.

I fished last night from 8pm to 2am. Caught 20+ with an 8.2 kicker. I stayed offshore in 12-20 feet. Tx rig was the ticket with red and June bug 10.5” wild thing worms. 3/8 oz weight due to the wind. I fished the secondary points on community and Indian mounts. Going back tonight and will report. Y’all be safe.

My report from last Friday and Sat night. We caught around 20 fish Friday night and 10 Saturday night. Friday we fished Community again and main lake points / humps at the mouth of Housen (south side). The same as before TR ole monsters / wild things in 12-20 FOW. Nothing over 3.5#. Saturday we run south to the TX islands and Mill. We fishing main lake and secondary points 10-20 FOW. We caught one fish on a CB, nothing on jigs or CR and the rest were TX.

@Monster worm

How y'all are?

Welcome aboard!

We have awesome guys who don't mind sharing the love for this lake.

Sometimes it's kinda quite cause many guys work offshore but they'll be around!

Just got in from a few days up there.  Very tough for me.  3 days, maybe 6 keepers.  Going from 50-60 fish per half day in Venice to that is hard to justify.  The locals I know that usually catch pretty good are even grumbling about how tough the lake is fishing.  Hope it gets better, I'm not willing to work that hard for them. I used to be able to at least catch some small fish or spots but the last couple of years have been very different.

Maybe next week I'll get to try again. Toledo at night and Rayburn in the day... I hope.

I'll probably go back in august.  When they start schooling a little more I might catch one or two, at least they will show me where they are.?  I will say this,  I figured out if you ain't breaking off and getting hung up pretty regular you probably ain't catching much.  Looks to me they are liking the thickest stuff available. Just my observation.

When the Mississipi river starts falling again in a couple of weeks I'll be fine.  Flip sticks, 65lb braid, and 3/4 oz weight in 2 feet of water.  That will tide me over til the next trip.  Getting harder and harder to leave my comfort zone.

I'm waiting on the Mississippi to fall a little more, myself. Hard to beat them run outs with current.

Hey y’all, I was wondering if maybe a few people on here could break out the topo maps and help educate the rest of us on how to break down a piece of water. I know there are a few things at the beginning of this forum, but some more input would be extremely helpful I think. Some things I personally would like to learn are how to identify spawning areas, pinpointing the best areas of deep water that fish move into in summer and winter, and just other general things that allow you to truly understand where the bass may be at a given time.
