Taking a kid who rarely catches next weekend. Hope to get somewhere with a shad spawn near mid-lake. Anybody know where there’s some grass where a kid can get some good top water action around daylight??

Ribbet frog around buck brush can produce some awesome top water first light bites as well.

You can find both in blue lake.

No doubt a Ribbet will get blowups, for a kid who rarely catches I would suggest a Tiny Torpedo.

When I got out of my truck to launch I felt that little cold breeze and knew something was brewing.  Boat stayed on the trailer even though I planned to fish a few hundred yards from the launch.  It was a good move.  I seldom mess with the main lake anymore. Too many places to launch to run very far by boat.

I've always enjoyed trailering to different launches, meet a lot of people that way.

Ben Matsubu & I talked for over an hour at the 6-Mile boat ramp. We even took a ride in his Legend bass boat!

Is he still at midlake ?

IDK  ?

Aint seen or heard anything from him.

You meet these guys when there's no cameras in their face, no tournament pressure, they're just like us. I've met Shaw Grigsby on several occasions, ya ask him a question ya better pull up a chair cause it's gonna be awhile!

Yep, one morning I launched and parked between keith combs and todd faircloth.  Think it was a strike king deal they had going on.  See Harold allen a lot.  Also met tommy martin and talked for an hour.  I'd like to spend a day in the boat with him.

After his heart attack I don't know if Tommy is still guiding.

Harold is still tournament fishing & winning!

Finally get to share some info! Fished TBend Tuesday through noon Friday. Had a great Thursday afternoon fishing c-rig with baby brushhog in watermelon/red and pumpkin green. Humps in main lake fish in 20 to 25 ftw, all solid but nothing over 4lbs.

Nice, thanks for the report. I'll probably be back up there in a couple of weeks.

Hi everyone....  quick question, when you catch fish that deep, do they need special care to keep alive?

Come on gents I need them up dates to make my day better.

Headed in from offshore tommorw to have xrays and mri's done on my left knee, that I blew out of socket.

Need some updates and fish pics to lift my spirts.

Took the kid today. Unfortunately, the lake has been drained so fast that the Blue Lake area is now a shallow, muddy flat. Much different than just a short 3 weekends ago. Has to be some grass or pads somewhere holding the early top water bite? Sure ain’t Blue Lake anymore.
