Bass_Fanatic Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 I too was out there Wednesday through today (Friday).  We caught right at 50 fish each day but size was hard to come by.  Wednesday we only fished for 3 hours and caught over 40 fish and our top 5 went 22lbs.  Thursday and Friday we caught 50 fish a day, but only 15-18lbs.  We found a lot of deep fish.  They didn’t bite very good though.  When they but, we would double up 8-10 cast in a row then they would shut off.  18-23’ was our magic depth once again. 5 Quote

Me and my best bud ran them Thursday and Friday on San Miguel and the 1215 area, best size came in the 1215 area.  Wind was so bad we used the flat and stayed shallow throwing 4 inch swimbaits, didn't do as bad as most we ended the trip with right at 30 caught between the two of us with most fish Friday being in the 2 pound range.   Did have one nice fish break me on hook set.  Deepest fish was around 7 foot on a messed up cast with a frog, friend backslashes his reel and the frog sank when he got it free and started reeling a bass picked the frog up from the bottom.  It was fun and giving the conditions I'm more then happy with how we did.  Soon as the weather stabilizes it will get better. 3 Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 7, 2018 Author Super User Posted April 7, 2018 @Bass_Fanatic & @A5BLASTER  I brought my Alweld expecting to fish the back of creeks but couldn't buy a bite in the back of Housen', 944, or Hurricane.  Everything we caught was near midway in the creeks in 4-10' away from the bank on the outside grassline.  Everything was on plastics ? 3 Quote

We stayed were the water was the dirtiest aka muddy with lots of grass and brush and the bass were there, but no steady bite, go throw catch a few then they would turn off, come back to it a hour later hit a few more then again they would turn off.  Luckly we had a few spots we could hit like that.  Other then a small dink school we found on a hump in shallow water with square bills and traps (they were feeding on shad), everything was on plastics.  Ghost shad and watermelon red color, both colors producing equally, bigger fish on the ghost shad. 2 Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 7, 2018 Author Super User Posted April 7, 2018 We only caught 20 but nothing under 2 1/2 lbs, top 5 around 22 lbs. 8.25 kicker helps ?  Most productive lure was Bonehead's 7" Ring Worm in Black Blue Flake & Watermelon Candy 3 Quote
DBaud Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 3 keepers Friday, 1 fish today.  All on Texas rigged baby brush hog in watermelon red 3-5 ft.  Struggling to figure them out with the weather change.  Hopefully San Miguel treats me better tomorrow!! 2 Quote

I’ll be there also.  I’m a boat captain for a local high school team.  I plan on talking to everyone there letting them know about the opportunity for these kids to continue to chase their dream at the college level.  I’m sure I’ll run into you.  We will have to talk big fish over a Dr. Pepper lol. 3 Quote

This past Sunday after fishing for 9 days straight, I decided to go hit a local lake by the house. It was pretty cold with a stout north wind. Both my boys had enough so I went solo. Needless to say they will never miss another trip again. lol Had 25.14lbs best 5 punching mats all day long. 4 Quote
