You're right I never came out a said it was a shad spawn bc I didn't want to jinx it but in carrice and palo gaucho both have had a small shad spawn going on also.

I struggled today as I went fish further south in hope of finding a bigger bite in indian mounds and housen. Fished all day with one 16 inch fish till I pulled up to my favorite tie up spot in indian mounds. Had the whole area to myself couldn't believe it.  Ended up catching 9 staging females on the old quilters rig. 3-5lbs. Set the boat in about 15-18 fow casting to about 4fow

Say baw.  If I ever get a trolling motor on my boat I am going to head up there.  It has been windy as hell down in S. LA lately.  I can’t imagine what it has been like up there.

Dad said it's been bad, I don't know I'm offshore still and it's been horrible out here.

Alright guys, I'm struggling. I can normally scare up a few fish everyday I'm up here but I fished all day today and yesterday afternoon with only a few bites and no fish in the boat. I've been staying around the white oak and hurricane area but ventured up to Lowe this afternoon. Been flipping creatures in the brush. Squarebills and spinnerbaits in he open areas. And to top it all off, my Lowrance is telling me that my Hotmaps Platinum chip is expired and won't show anything so I'm running on the terrible base map and a hotspots chart.

Any help would be very appreciated.

@Marshfly haven't heard much after all this rain, wha I am hearing is struggling!

Sorry, but I'm glad I'm missing this round of high muddy. As far as Navionics expiring, mine's been expired and never lost it so I don't understand that. Lost the updates and the aerial of the land but to me that's not worth the yearly cost. Good luck out there!

It has been a struggle since the rain. I had to change my approach the last 2 days. Ended up boating 8 solid prespawners. Carolina rig and drop shotting in 20-30 fow. Basically I've had to throw the Carolina rig to search and when I see a school feeding under the boat drop down on them and boom a bite nearly every time. Only problem is  it's just me so I can't get back on them fast enough to catch a 2nd most times.  Also if you see a plane 3600 loaded with flutter spoons floating around please let me know. Kicked it off the deck.

Yall might disagree but I'm ready for summer. Consistent weather, patterns, and less boat traffic.

I was working all day and almost all night to get back but now I can slow down and get back after. I totally agree, operationgrass.

Mid-summer night, deep water structure, full moon on the horizon, gentle southern breeze, Hoot Owl in the distance, the solid thump on a jig!

Yea I could do that!  ?

It was a struggle yesterday for sure. We boated 19, but only 3 of them were over 3lbs.  We fished both shallow and deep, but most fish came deep.

My partner and I fished the Indian Mounds area Friday and caught our limit on wacky rigs. We were beating the banks, but the key was to find banks within casting distance of 12-15 ft of water. My partner had a 8.21 and all of the rest were under 3 lbs. Some of our other friends caught them on flukes but they had all smaller fish. They wanted it really slow after the storm Wed-Thur. Tight lines!!

Happy easter.

So the last 2 days was a grind. Yesterday I punched hay grass and caught some good fish. It was slow but got a few bites. Today it was wake worms and flukes.

Also went graph some main lake stuff that always has fish on it. I was seeing a lot of small schools of 3-5 fish caught a few of them and they where post spawn  females.  So I know there are always fish in all phases this time of year but doesn't that seem like the first stage of the migration back out?

I’ve been catching post spawned for a month now.  They start earlier than most people realize.

I guess I didn't think about the fish that spawn in January and February and early March.

Been telling people for years, pre-spawn/spawn starts long before most people think.

While they sit around reading water temperatures the bass are moving!

Some big stringers being caught by guys who put in the effort. Shallow & deep water producing, off colored water has a edge over clear.

Went yesterday to Six Mile to try and find some sac-a-lait to fry. I took the bass poles just in case. Caught one bass open water about 15 foot on chartreuse sexy shad 6XD bout 16 inches long. I didn't put much effort into bass fishing just happened to be messing around and got lucky. For those interested, The sacs were very slow. We ended up with 8 plus one small throwback for three people fishing.

Fished in Six Mile yesterday morning until 10 A.M. We didn't get there right at daylight and I regret it, the shad spawn was in full swing. We managed to boat 10 fish between 2.5 and 4 pounds. We flipped grass and threw swimbaits for our bites.

My youngest son Scotty wanted to go Hawg hunting for his birthday so we drove up Wednesday to Fin-n-Feather with a family friend.

The weather was horrible Wednesday thru Friday!

Cold, windy, rain, & I didn't pack enough clothes!

Fished in the back of creeks looking for big bass & never found em. Everything we caught were out near the front of creeks.

I did manage that beautiful 8 1/4 lb Hawg, Scotty managed a 4 lb, & our friend Jacob got skunked.
