ibefishing Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 I'll be visiting New Orleans in late June and really wanted to fish Toledo Bend. I'm seriously thinking about driving 5 hours and going on guided trip. Any recommendations on good guide service, preferably on the Louisiana side. Also, if it doesn't pan out, any recommendations on good lakes near or not too far from New Orleans, private or public that has awesome guides. I just want to catch some big bass. TIA 1 Quote

TIA According to what days you will be here I may have an opening. I guide part time on Toledo and Rayburn. Jason courville, Zack Gagnard, and Darold Gleason are all good guides on Toledo too. Late June will be a topwater and deep ledge bite more than likely. As for places around New Orleans, I would go to Venice! 2 Quote

DaveHaze Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Hi all, fished the back of Paulo Gaucho after the recent rains a couple of days ago with no luck, not even a bite! Launched yesterday at the public boat ramp near Carrice creek and beat the banks with similar results so I went out to a few coves south west of there and found decent water, meaning stained but not bad and though the place was loaded with cormarants, pelicans and sea gulls diving all over with blue herons on the bank and I saw a few crappie near brush I could not elicit even one bite! And I threw everything in the boat at them except my dog! Tired of getting skunked since the rains, any ideas? 2 Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 27, 2018 Author Super User Posted February 27, 2018 Slow down ?  This high water is gonna scatter the fish  Still a lot of fish being caught by anglers not necessarily fishing slow techniques but fishing areas thoroughly. 1 Quote
RockNReelN Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Toledo lake level slowly rising with both gens running and 11 gates open. Drought in TB watershed ?? 1 Quote

Sure thought this would get them on the bank. Tried dragging a c rig deeper but no luck. Maybe next time when I get my new HB figured out I can catch them on structure. 1 Quote

Super User Catt Posted March 1, 2018 Author Super User Posted March 1, 2018 FYI: if y'all targeting buck brush pay real close attention! Couple friends tangled with wasp nest! Â Water high & muddy but fish still being caught & big fish! 1 Quote
beauxnarreaux Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 I'm going to TB the third weekend in March. I don't know any area well but have been around several areas a little. I plan on staying at Big Bass Marina and am thinking I'll try the Lowe's Creek area since its close, as long as I can cross the lake. Is there any buck brush back in there and what areas should I look at? A couple of years ago I went into one of the first little coves on its north side where there are a good bit of camps and found a few fish but they were small and best I recall it was a fairly shallow finger/canal that appeared to get fished pretty hard. j bab Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Saturday we caught 11. Most on craw style plastics in dark green colors in the 8ft range. We caught a few real shallow too but most were pulled off the banks. We graphed a ton of fish in the 20+ft range, might try that this morning 1 Quote
Amateur Hour Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 What’s up Clint?  I haven’t been up there in a while.  I hope to get the new ultrex installed this week and maybe go next weekend.  We shall see. Quote
A5BLASTER Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Just came off the water, bite picking up on the old trusty spinner bait and swim bait no size to brag about but some nice 2 and 3s showing up.  Biggest of the day throw me but it came on a baby ribbett, had my head in the clouds and didn't set the hook.  I'm sure she was 6 to 7 pounds had a big belly.  Hope this helps someone and as always blue pro crappie fat guy camo hat come say hello. 4 hours ago, Amateur Hour said: What’s up Clint?  I haven’t been up there in a while.  I hope to get the new ultrex installed this week and maybe go next weekend.  We shall see.
