Zack is really good. I met him on a trip to learn dropshotting. My place on Toledo is between Zacks place and shadows launch

Gotcha. We are clearing some land not far from Shadows and building a camp. If anyone know anyone looking for waterfront lots, let me know.

I'm not sure but here is a point and or hump that's 24' deep in the mouth of Housen.

I can't see the contour depth at the very bottom, but the "hump" I see here is @ 19' just off the road bed.  ?

I’ll probably be up there next weekend. I’d like to get up with you and get details from you

True, but further southeast in the middle of the picture is a long flat point/ridge that is 24' deep. To me there are several good spots to try in this picture. Just gotta catch the right wind or lack of to try it in my boat.

Without knowing what's in the surrounding area that little picture doesn't tell me enough.

Which is why at the start of this thread I suggested everyone us the same map for reference.

I understand that. It's navionics off my phone because it was easy to capture. It might not even be right. One day I'll check it.

If I had some reference other than "a point and or hump that's 24' deep in the mouth of Housen'" would be great.

It was just a quick example to show Amateur Hour that there were points/humps/ridges that were 20 to 25 feet deep. I guess I can zoom out so you know where I'm talking about. It's basically the community hole in Housen. Too many humans, usually.

It's where the cross hairs are.

Y'all between Devil's Pass & East West boat lane #6?

Another way would be find a point & follow it out to 20-25'!

Ya picture doesn't even show the old roadbeds ?

Posted

Cause they're zoomed out to show where it is. The original zoomed in picture shows a road bed. Like said, it was just to show a point that was 24' deep. They exist is all I was trying to show.

I completely understand what your saying ?

I know Community Flat extremely well, that bottom is not zoomed out & the details are off.

Is that the flat outside of white oak?

From the mouth of White Oak to the intersection of the Sabine River & Housen' bayou; the whole area outside the mouth of Housen' on the north side.

Yeah, I fished that area a few times with a trap.  We won a club tournament there and another just inside by the mouth of hurricane.

Community Flat & the flat in the mouth of 6-mile has won me several tournaments; produced 6 double digits & my biggest 5 bass stringers.

I've probably spent a couple hundred hours on those two flat!

Almost need a Gatling Gun mounted on the bow to fish those areas in peace, lately. I'll return when the humans slack off. Until then, I'll fish and learn out of the way less pressured areas. Plenty of room to spread out ?

While there are quite a few anglers who fish Community Flat 99.5% aint got a clue what they're doing.

There's fish all over both flats ?

I want to check out  Housen the next time I go up there.  I've only ever fished in San Miguel.

I advocated for years if really wanna learn Toledo Bend pick an area & fish it from pre-spawn through winter.

It is extremely hard to try to learn the entire lake at once.

It's taken me 45 yrs & hundreds of hours on the trolling motor, idling & graphing, chunking & reeling just to gain a basic knowledge of this lake.

Little Fish, shoot me a link of where I can get one of those guns:lol:.

Words of wisdom Catt, I agree.  I've been fishing up there for years and really don't know a whole lot more than when I started.  It takes a lot of quality time on the water to really get on them regularly.  My problem is, I fish tournaments down here and go there to fun fish.  So I fish a few hours at a time, catch enough to make me happy and go in and take a nap.  I would need to fish some tournaments there to get my butt in gear and do some work finding fish.

I wish I lived close so I could go there more and at different seasons.  Its about a 5 hour drive for me, so I usually only make it up there about once a year.  Since I can't get up there very often I generally try to go during the spring.

Most people who can only go a couple times a year want to go during the spring because the bass are actively feeding.

While this is true the bass during the spring can be extremely fickled.

If I could only go a couple times a year I would pick summer because the bass are easily patterned.

Just wondering if anyone has any decent success at all mid lake lately. I spend most of my time in Lowes, Palo Gaucho, Spring Hill, Slaughter areas as they are the closest to my camp. To say that this area has kicked my butt lately would be an understatement. I can go up north and catch them, I can go down south and catch them but when I try to run similar patterns on what I consider my "home water" areas I cannot duplicate the success. The patterns may be a little different or somewhere in between but I just cant hit on much of anything around the house lately. Is it just me???
