RCCA Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 I'm going next week. Can't wait. Hadn't been since the end of July. About to kill me even though I've been fishing and hunting other places. 2 Quote

Bass_Fanatic Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I fished Toledo Friday. Boated 54 bass, top 5 went 22lbs. Lost 2 fish well over 8lbs also. Â We stayed in 15-20ft and caught most fish on crankbaits. Look for shad and bass on ledges with creek bends nearby. 6 1 Quote
Marshfly Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 So, the wife and kids have talked me into bringing the tube to the lake this time. Is there any realistically safe area to pull it without having to worry about tearing off my lower unit on treetops? Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 27, 2017 Author Super User Posted September 27, 2017 I'm hearing reports Sabine River Authority is dropping the lake to 168'. Â Love me some fall/winter low lake conditions; Jigs n Texas Rigs! Quote

june-bug Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Hadn't been on the lake in a month and a half. Better fishing still out on the main lake? Caught both my biggest bass ever 2nd week in October half way back in creek arm. But it was little cooler that year and we still a few weeks away from that. 1 Quote

Catt, I feel your pain. Only been twice this year. The crowds early on really turned me off.  Hopefully that gets better. If not, I'll probably have a place for sale. 1 Quote
shaneus Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 fished the last bfl today, fishing has been tough! had 3 bites and lost them all. best bite i think i had was on a carolina rig in 28 fow. had a bite on a whopper plopper and that was it! fished shallow deep and in between.... 1 20# sack was brought in...... good thing hunting season is upon us lol  1 Quote
RCCA Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Shane, that's highly discouraging but much appreciated. I just showed up, about a week late, charging all my dead sh...stuff. Will give a shallow report tomorrow. Ain't got time to re-rig for the depths. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I fished yesterday. Caught 33, top five right at 18lbs. Caught loads of 3lb fish and had 2 over 4, but never got a big bite. If I could have fished today I would have fished the bfl, but oh well. Same things, main lake ridges in 18-20' 2 Quote
RCCA Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I like you but you make me sick lol Nice job!  1 Quote
june-bug Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Fished mid lake and just never found any big schools. Spent a ton of time idling and graphing but just couldn't find em. Finally just settled down and fished points and would pick up a couple fish on a drop shot on every couple of points I stopped on. Nothing over 3 pounds though. Fish were caught in 15 - 20' for most part. One thing that was pretty cool was I had a group of schooling fish pop up Friday afternoon in Lowes just out of casting range that appeared to be 4 and 5 pound maybe even 6 pound fish. Never seen fish of that caliber schooling like that. By the time I got to em they were gone and never saw them again. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 2, 2017 Author Super User Posted October 2, 2017 @june-bug that's pretty awesome  ?  I've seen that 6 or 7 times in 45 yrs on the lake, 3 times off the same treeline!  If one were to lineup at the end of Millionaire Point, head kinda east towards Tennessee Bay, you would come to the treeline. Back in the mid 70s that treeline was visible about the water, ya gonna have to graph it now.  Right at the treeline or slightly before it the depth drops into Lowe's Creek. If ya look at the map there's 2 creeks coming off the river that meet near the end of Millionaire's Point.  Not saying there's fish there but I always stopped & looked! 1 1 Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I'll be on Rayburn his week for the Keith Combs Slam. Â Gonna need 28lbs+. Â After that I'll be back on Toledo. Â As some of you know, I'm doing a little guiding on both lakes. Â I do electronic sessions and fishing trips. Â If anyone wants one, feel free to PM me. Fishing should only get better! 3 1 Quote
RCCA Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I went check the back of Sandy. More grass but no Lilly pads like last fall. Caught 11 bass and one sac a lait. Most very shallow in the grass on a buzz bait. A few on a spook. No size at all. Water was 79 to 80 degrees. Got two calls for jobs so this will be the shortest trip in history. Good luck to all. 1 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted October 4, 2017 Global Moderator Posted October 4, 2017 I was watching an old episode of Zona's Awesome fishing show last night. He was on Toledo Bend with Harold Allen. Toledo Bend looks like it would be a hoot to fish.  I'm not sure where they were on the lake but it was tree stumps sticking out as far as the eye can see! It would be fun pitching and flipping them all day long.  It was pretty amazing to see Harold Allen picking this stump and that one and telling Zona those ones are no good. I don't know if it was the diameter or what but he was right on them.  Pretty cool episode. I'll be putting Toledo Bend on my bucket list for sure! 1 Quote
