That's right around the corner. I had to run from just north of Kites Landing to the other side of the lake at Fox's last time. 1 Quote
A5BLASTER Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Good to see someone is still catching. Good to be back from work, made it in late yesterday evening, ate supper hit the water with dad, we found a few in the pound to pound and half range on ribbet frogs up around Rebecca's gas station, if u passed there and saw a blue pro crappie right at dark yep that was me. Had a good time me and dad landed 7 of 10 hits. Probably won't be posting much till next February deer season bout to start so got to get my bow arm back in shape. Colors and size of frog was black with red flake and baby was the size, slow rolled along grass lines in 2 to 5 fow. Hope this helps someone. 4 Quote

If you'd like, I can go feed your pets some ribbits while you're away. ... GPS coordinates can be messaged to me!! LOL, just kidding. Good luck with the deer. Headed up this afternoon. I guess I'll get to fish in the rain for a few days, as long as there's no lightning or big wind. 3 Quote
A5BLASTER Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 I was on the water this morning with dad and we slayed them, bye 9 o'clock we had landed 37 and had probably 10 or 15 throw the hooks. Cranks- Bandit300 in crome and black back with orange belly. Traps-Rat l trap- 3/4 once, same color. Spinnerbait- unknown make- firetiger is the color. Hope this helps someone. RonnieF, white with chertruese feet ribbets when it's cloudy and raining along grass and wood on San Miguel is killer better hold on tight. 2 Quote
RonnieF Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Thanks Blaster. Plans changed. Better half didn't want to go for 2-3 days then scamper back to Lafayette. Fish will probably go nuts and I won't be there to participate. Quote
A5BLASTER Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Weather is just now starting to show its face, will try to hit the water tommorw morning, depending on weather should be a good frog bite. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 28, 2017 Author Super User Posted August 28, 2017 All y'all safe? ? We are getting a lot of rain but it pauses long enough to run off but it will not be long it will not have anywhere to run off to! 4 Quote
A5BLASTER Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Yea we all good up here, weather hasn't really been all that bad, a lil rain and some mild wind from time to time, not much more then what I would call average. On a side note the frog bite has been on fire with this falling water level and the rain and cloud cover keeping the water temp down a lil they have been crushing the baby sized white and chartreuse ribbett frog. Along grass, wood and banks that have the wind blown on too it. Woke up this morning too see the lake had came up a lil from yesterday but don't have time to fish today. 2 Quote
Joshybadnames Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Anybody got a shallow bite going? Quote
A5BLASTER Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Ain't no thing since all the rain brought the lake up four feet, they shut down on a rising water, now soon as the water starts to show good signs of dropping they will get their feed on again. 1 Quote
getting there Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 (Posting this @ 5PM Friday Sept 1)...........What will the water level do tonite???---NO rain (X ~ 18 hours?), sunny all day today, & 11 gates open @ 6 feet each with both gens. going 24hrs/day....Ought to start dropping???ie lake level was 173.7' @ 6AM this morning... Thinking bout going up either tomorrow or Monday(probably Monday better?????---but weather may change by then---ie start raining some).............TIA......... EDIT..........talked to Big Bass Marina a while ago & they said water probably dropped "a couple inches today"------so planning on going up Monday to fish, should be a little lower by then--& dropping ?faster??.. A5BLASTER Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Since the rain stopped yesterday the water has dropped 14 inches in my yard, bye tommorw evening it should be down anouther foot or a lil more, my quess is my boat will hit the lake Sunday evening or Monday morning, if work doesn't get in the way. As always if y'all see a blue pro crappie on San Miguel with a fat guy up front slinging a ribbet frog come say hello that's me. 2 Quote
Joshybadnames Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 I fished a small tournament on the lake today. I didn't practice and haven't been on the lake in a couple months. I fished near NTBSP. A lot dirtier than I've seen it and the salvinia is everywhere. Couldn't get a topwater bite going and not much else fishing slow. I started throwing a floating rogue, chrome/blue/orange, around shallow around bushes and submerged grass in 4 fow pretty much working it as fast as I could and started getting bit. Had 7 bites on that with one close to 4 pounds. I figured that bite out a little too late and it died off. Picked up a couple more midday with a jig on a bush and a dock. One more last minute on a chatterbait. Finished with 10.66 good for 2nd. A lot of guys who fished deep struggled and it was won up shallow. 1 Quote
A5BLASTER Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Good job, my brother in law fished today didn't find much at all. The water is still high and dirty from the rains and the salvana is like you said everywhere due to it being washed out from the severe currents that got kicked up from the creeks draining. I will be on the water at day light, with this moon tonight and the wate r dropping and current increasing its going to start picking back up tommorw. 1 Quote
A5BLASTER Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Lol told yall lol. Frog, trap and crank five foot are less of water round grass and wood, look for current as well. Didn't want to keep the big girl but she swallowed the frog and got both hooks in the gills. She came in at 6.3 pounds. 2 Quote
Bryanhester Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Headed that way tomorrow afternoon. What's the water color ? Gonna be in San Miguel and around 1215. Plan on covering a lot of water . Looks like I need to stay shallow .. Quote
A5BLASTER Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Water color in the back areas of San Miguel where I live and fished today is very dirty still. Salvana is floating everywhere due to the creeks being flushed with all the rain last week. Will have anouther report tonight, I can still catch two more keepers today and I'm taking dad this evening, look for my post tonight. Ohh one more thing winds have been on the increase all day main lake has white caps right now. 1 Quote
Bryanhester Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Fished Thursday evening and Friday. Best bite for me was definitely in the afternoon. Found a school of fish and caught about 25 with 12 being keepers. Big fish was around 4lbs. 8-10 fow seemed to be best. All caught on a 3xd in a shad pattern. Friday morning was pretty slow with a couple of frog fish and a few more cranking. Found another school later in the day but most were small. Ready for some fall fishing !! 1 Quote
