Caught 10, but found one school with probably 75 fish in it. It was a funny bite, they would knock the fire out of a jig or a dropshot but wouldn't hold onto it. I did go shallow for an hour and look around. Saw a lot of cruisers, but nothing locked on yet. I hate when they bite like that! I've had em almost take the rod out my hand but you couldn't set hook fast enough! Quote

bighed Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Did pretty fair yesterday flipping boat houses and Cypress trees in San Miguel and Patroon. Got several in the 3-6 pound range in water 5' or less. Going back out after breakfast. 5 Quote

Super User Catt Posted March 7, 2016 Author Super User Posted March 7, 2016 Y'all watching the weather? Severe thunderstorms Tuesday-Thursday moving straight up the Sabine River with winds 30-40 mph & 8-14" of rain! Y'all be safe out there Quote
bighed Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Sounds about right. Finally get to fish TB and the weather is going to be all jacked up. Oh well, I'll be back next weekend rain or shine. Did ok again yesterday. Pretty much everything we tried produced, just not a lot of numbers. Boat houses, cypress, hydrilla beds, hay grass all had a fish or two. Didn't fish deeper than about 10' 2 Quote
ranger392xt Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 14.16# caught Saturday, weighed at Fin Feather, 85th fish entered in Share Lunker program this year (number 86 was also caught Sat but only a measly 10#'er). https://www.facebook.com/pages/Toledo-Bend-Lunker-Bass-Program/164436250355762 Quote
Bryanhester Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I can't take it anymore !! I'm headed down tonight !! Hopefully can get some fishing in before it gets to bad !! I can live with rain and wind but not the thunder and lightening .. 1 Quote
LSUh20fowler Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Made a day trip Sunday with my son. Launched out of of Turtle Beach and stayed in Negreet Cove the whole day. Started out flipping buck brush in back of Salter Creek. Produced nothing. Seen some guys catching white perch. Bounced around out in the main cove throwing spinnerbaits and squarebills. Caught one short fish on squarebill. Got desperate, so picked up the wacky worm, which I hate. Quickly put a little pattern together to save the day. Wacky rigged sinkos in junebug or any dark color on cypress trees. Tried around boat docks but didn't pick up anything. 5 biggest went for 10.5 lbs. with putting 12 in the boat and lost 2 at the boat. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 8, 2016 Author Super User Posted March 8, 2016 LSUh20fowler, they are killing em in Tennessee Bay just outside the mouth of Negreet! Quote

Yea, but the wind and waves were a little too much for my lil 19 ft boat. With my recent foot surgery, I can't handle the bouncing too much right now. Quote
bighed Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Anybody that braves the storms this week, a report or PM would be appreciated. Quote
RonnieF Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Good luck Bryan and anyone else braving this weather. I was lucky to make it in from offshore this morning, flying 155 knots in a Bell 407 with a 30 knot tail wind. I'm so ready to get up there, but lots of honey-do's to do before I can. Y'all stay safe. 1 Quote
RCCA Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 This weather can kiss my coon tail! Couldn't come at a worse time. I'll be there unless I gotta ride the lightning. Y'all be safe and good luck. 2 Quote
Bryanhester Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Not much fishing time today !! Only 3 1/2 hours till the storms ran me off. Waited an hour or two in the truck and finally gave up. Ended up with 10 fishing drains in housen looking for a big one . Couple on Carolina rig lizard and some on flukes and senkos . Just when it was about to bust loose. Now we have to deal with high and muddy water !! Hope it doesn't take long to settle back down.. 3 Quote
RCCA Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I'm still a rookie there but I think I'll focus on the South end and more towards the lake until the water settles down. Any experienced advice on a possible foot of rain would be much appreciated, though. 2 Quote
mguidroz Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 According to website, Toledo came up a 6" inches over night and it's still getting pounded. I wonder what its going to do to the fishing? Quote
