Super User Catt Posted February 10, 2016 Author Super User Posted February 10, 2016 BassnChris needs to know who's planning on attending the Jack Yates Classic on Toledo Bend March 23-28. If y'all can make it contact BassnChris ASAP! Ya don't need a boat Quote
june-bug Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 We fished Saturday morning from daylight till 1:30 Indian Mounds and caught 3 keeper sized fish 5-6 ft of water. Went back out at 4:00 till dark in six mile and caught 14 bass on a Carolina rig on a underwater point 15' deep. Only 6 were keepers. Sunday morning fished Palo Gaucho and Lowes creek from daylight till 2:00 and caught zero bass. Went back to my point in six mile about 4:00 and caught 5 keepers. Also boated two 3-1/2 and one 5 pound fish in 25' water on a creek channel bend just before dark. It was tuff fishing overall for sure. The bite was definitely better for me later in the afternoon. 2 Quote
LSUh20fowler Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Anyone know the water temp around the mid lake area ? Quote
june-bug Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I was marking anywhere between 52 and 54 for the most part mid lake. Quote
RonnieF Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Thanks for the report june-bug. Isn't your camp around midlake? I'm on San Miguel. Headed up Thursday night for a week. Hope to give a good report. I'll probably be fishing midlake/1215 area. White basscat/yellow bolt/purple trim, stop and say hi if you see me. Â Â 3 Quote
june-bug Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Yeah Ronnie my camp is in the lil cove right on side of Goodlow Bluff on the Texas side. The east/west boat lane from cypress bend side by island will take you right into mouth of cove. If you idle straight to the back of the cove dead center you will hit my bank. White mobile home up on the hill and only trailer in the cove lol. I'm surrounded by big nice cabins but my place is a dream come true to me and sits on two waterfront lots. If you ever around there swing on in and drink a cold one. I run a gunmetal, silver, red trim Phoenix 921. I'll keep an eye out for ya. Wife and kids stayed the whole week i had to come back to work. I'm headed back Friday for the weekend. Just got a text from my 13 year old and he is tearing up the catfish right now fishing off the bank on some stink bait he bought at Keiths. Good eatin! Bass_Fanatic Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I'm hoping to make it up for a day or two to meet everyone. I'll have to see what I have going on that week. Is Felix coming again? 1 Quote
RCCA Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 I'll be there for the Easter weekend days. Can't wait!  Wish I could be there for the whole time. Quote
RonnieF Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I'll be going back offshore on the 22nd. Wish I could be there to meet y'all. June-bug, i'll definitely do that when i'm in that area. It's not too often, but I do plan on fishing the front end of palo gaucho soon. It sounds like you're in a great place to with many options. It seems like our little cove holds a lot of catfish too. That old nasty stink bait sure attracts them. Good luck this weekend. 1 Quote
RCCA Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Them cats are good in a gravy!  Just made one with crawfish and catfish for Ash Wednesday. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 11, 2016 Author Super User Posted February 11, 2016 Y'all seen this? 3 Quote
june-bug Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Geez louise that's a nice sacalait. A couple years ago we caught some pretty big ones like 2-1/2 pounds plus in Patroon. That one looks alot bigger. Quote
draino Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I would also like to send out a big thanks to Catt for starting this very informative thread along with the other anglers who take the time to posts their reports, tips and ideas. I've been lurking over the past several months, going back and reading the posts and trying to take in as much as I can. My brother and I purchased a boat a few years ago and have really enjoyed the time together, but realize there's a lot more to successful fishing than luck. We spent most of our first couple of years fishing Caddo, but after a couple of trips to TB last summer we've been spending most of our time there exploring and learning different parts of the lake. We've decided to take the advice given earlier to focus on one area and learn it well and really interested in Palo Gaucho area, but the last couple of trips hadn't produced much. I looked at the coordinates that Zefman78 posted on 3Fed and thought about fishing around there several times, but each time the wind was too much to try it (got a small boat that doesn't handle in the wind well). We're planning to head out there this Sunday and will likely put in at Alpine to give that area a going over. I'll let y'all know if it truly was a better than a good day at work.  2 Quote
LSUh20fowler Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Any of ya'll fishing the Rat L Trap tournament on the 21st ? My son and I will be there. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 I wish the trap tournament was on a Saturday, then I'd fish it. I work at a church, so kinda hard for me to fish on Sunday's lol. 3 Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 11, 2016 Author Super User Posted February 11, 2016 draino, how y'all are? If ya launch at Alpine check out the Palo Gaucho Flats & Spring Hill area. 1 Quote
