Fished yesterday from 8-5. Caught right at 50, biggest being 8lbs. We caught em good until 10, then didn't get back on em until 2. We fished the bank for an hour without a bite, then went back offshore and started catching.

Speaking of ducks, any of y'all duck hunt on The Bend? If so, how is it? Sure would be nice to hunt there so I could fish too!

We caught fish from 15-35ft. Found lots of em in 30-35 ft but they were a little harder to get to bite. Caught em on swimbaits, spoons, and dropshots. Most fish were related to channel bends.

ISatirday was opening day on Toledo and I didn't hear a single shot. Saw one groups of canvasback and some take Canadian geese lol. I have a feeling this is going to be the worst duck season in a long time. Where I hunt (catahoula and around Larto) is underwater. LDWF did a count last week and there were 2000 ducks on catahoula and it normally 100k+

Also had a pretty good weekend on the bend !! Friday caught 25 with one that went 5 and another that went 9.03!! All of big fish caught on a swing head jig with a speed craw trailer. Numbers were caught on spoons and drop shots. Sunday was a little slower but did manage a couple around 5lbs. End of flats in 12 to 15 fow .

BF, and Bryan, great reports.  I stunk it up this weekend.  Caught 4 Saturday morning and 10 Saturday afternoon.  Went back Sunday morning and caught 5.  Most fish were small, biggest 3.5.  I saw a lot of bait and fish deep but could not get a bite (I'll blame it on the wind Saturday, hard to stay on a spot and fish) .  Caught all my fish shallow, spinnerbait and worm.  But, it sure was a nice weekend.

Yelp! But I got so much going on it'll be after the 1 st before I could even think about going!

I'm planning on heading up Friday afternoon/evening, just in time for the front. Oh well, the air may be cold but I'll t still chase 'em. Maybe the deep fish won't be affected too much. Thanks for the reports Bryan, JC, and B Fanatic.

Saturday should be a great day to fish. Pre-frontal, cloudy conditions will make the shallow bite explode. Wish I could go. Good luck!

Well, I hope it is.  We will see.

Still deeper than most think or moving to winter patterns?

Water temp is still mid 60s so I wouldn't think they would be in a winter pattern yet, but here is a lot of shad out in 25-35 ft and the bass aren't far behind.

Didn't say they were in a winter pattern but the weather is changing fast!

I caught a couple of nicer fish deep Saturday before the wind started.  I did catch a good bit of smaller fish shallow.  Like said, saw tons of bait deep in the channels and catching a few on deep flats or bars next to the channels.  With that said, there's a lot of bait shallow and back in some coves.  I think the fish are like me,,confused.  Problem is when the bass get confused they tend to go deeper,,I on the other hand tend to go back to shallow water when I can get bit there.

OK, I need some guidance.  I'm gonna bite the bullet and learn to fish a spoon.   What kind of spoon do I need for 20-30' depths. I am clueless here.  I think I will take a half day trip with just a couple of rods rigged with spoons.  its hard for me to pick it up when I can hit the banks with a spinnerbait and catch a few. I fished shallow water for a long time and old habits are hard to break.

Nice job! Sorry, can't help with the spoons. Hope to learn, myself.
