Bass_Fanatic Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 I struggled. Caught 10 fish, best five might have been 14lbs. I went north of patroon for the first time ever and struggled bad. Never caught a fish until the last hour when I came back down to lowes just so I wouldn't zero lol. Caught 10 pretty quick and left. Learned my lesson...expand on what I know, don't go fishing completely new water. Martinez is a different world than lowes south. Quote
RCCA Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Well, at least you got to go and learned something. The whole lake is like that for me. All pretty much new except 1215 area when they're shallow. Next lesson for me is at the end of this month Quote
june-bug Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 We struggled also fishing in Palo Gaucho . Same places we caught them pretty good two weeks ago for the 4th we couldnt buy a bite. Did manage to put a few in the boat here and there but it was real slow. My son did hook into a pretty good one that had that rod bent over and was pulling drag and then it came unbuttoned. If it was a bass it was a dang good one. Fished sat night for about three hours and caught three fish all nice ones though up to five pounds. 1 Quote

I went to Brittany a few months ago, and had a blast, but had to idle from the red/green in the middle of the lake with big rollers coming from the south praying I didn't come down on a stump. My boatlanes chip showed a lane across the lake, but I was too scared to run it. I should be up at the camp in 2 weeks. Quote
jcdogfish Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I had a tough weekend too. Caught some at dark Friday and that was the only real action. Saturday was few and far between. On the brighter side I did not find it as hot as predicted. Guess the breeze helped. Of course I fished til 11, went in ate, took a shower and took a nap til 4:30. RCCA Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Glad I was circling, I guess. I'll be at Fin and Feather July 31st till August 2nd. Too hot so I'll be trying to night fish. Been awhile. I found the last RV spot at Twin Oaks on Six Mile now I just need an RV LOL. Shaneus, you still around? Isn't that your neck of the woods? Quote
jcdogfish Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I'm close to you on the main highway and love the area. Quote

kking Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Went to lowes the other day. Ended up with 7. Biggest just under 5 pounds. Hope to get better though. Supposed to be buying a camper in lowes campground next week!! I never thought I would say its too hot to fish, but its getting close. Quote
RCCA Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 It is. Hell, it's too hot to live right now. I work in it every day and can't take two more. Ti poisson is going nocturnal! Quote
kking Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 That's one of the best things about having a place to stay on the lake. I don't have to worry about driving home after fishing all night Quote
RCCA Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I'm coming buddy. I'll be like that shortly. Still hunting a camper trailer. See ya on the Blue Moon Quote

Nitecrawler Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Hi guys.  I am new on this site. Took me a few weeks but, I read from page one up to today's post (298).  I have enjoyed each one.  You guys are very lucky to have an instructor like catt.  Thanks catt for all the instruction that you give so freely for each fisherman on this site!  I hope to hear a lot more from you.  I was shocked when I read about fishfordollars (Jack)!  I was so looking forward to meeting him.  RIP Jack  I have not fished TB for 19 years.  But I am coming down to fish TB August 29th & 30th.  And then for a week the last of September.  I hope to have coffee with some of you when I am there! Grass man Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Thanks for the welcome catt. Havent fished since last week but last time i went on the bend last week was catchin real good fish on quick drops with ounce and quarter jig. Ran the pattern from six mile to carrice creek and was doin the same. Best five pushed 28lbs. Same pattern workin on rayburn also. Needs to have grass on the drops. 2 Quote
LaRoper Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Grassman I hunted for grass last weekend from Indian mounds, Negreet creek, Tennessee bay, up too pendleton bridge and found none. Found some fish with side scan but they wouldn't hit anything. I should have ran down io pirates cove. Quote
Nitecrawler Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Catt, does the grass show up first in Housen? Quote
RCCA Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I love grass and a month ago what I found was sparse at best from Housen to San Miguel so I'm interested in this current discussion cause I'll be there early Friday morning until Sunday. When I say grass I mean hydrilla type not the hay grass. Quote
Grass man Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 The best fish came on the outside edge of haygrass with coon tail mixed with haygrass closest to the deeper water. Didnt fill the bottom of the boat but what was caught quality wise made up for quantity. If u try this pattern pay attention to the depth and what part of grass it came out of. Middle to outside is best midday and early the better fish came five to ten foot outside edge away from the grass. This time of year i never put the jig down whether its grass brush or stumps. The jig will produce the best quality. Good luck be patient with it and give it a try. The thump is worth it. Quote
