kajun32 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I have camp in Noble three yrs now. I fish St Patricio and I don't have lot of experience fishing bass, I fish sac a lait most of my life. I'm into bass now. I have read your articles and learn more in two days than I have in three yrs on the lake. I purchase the Legend last yr, not new but got a good deal on it. Reason I got a Legend because my friend has one, asthe story goes. I'm a 45 yr oilfield worker. I have been fishing the Oilmans tournaments, lots of fun. I'll just keep reading and learning from you guys as I go along. My big bass is 3-lbs, !!! I think all I got to do is go up right. I'm from Morse La. south of Crowley. Thanks Quote
kajun32 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Question ???? With water high and Bass beds up in high water, when the water level goes down will we loose all the eggs (hatchings)? Quote

kajun32 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Thanks Wesley? I hope they take their time lowing the water level. Can anyone tell me when or anything about East Texas Oilmans Tournament? I see it on the web but no dates? Have a bless day! Quote
PODNAH Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Hey All, It's been quite some time since I made my initial post here. I used to fish this lake back in the late 80's and early 90's. Cut my teeth up around Converse, A1, San Patricio, and blue lake. That was back in the day when the grass beds were good and thick in that area and the old Christmas tree was still standing. I used to do well back then, and did not have a problem finding fish. I guess since being born and raised down in Houma, La. I had a bayou/marsh mentality and was relating to what I could see. Since someone in their infinite wisdom decided to kill off all the grass; I am as lost as a bullfrog on a mountain top. Quote

Have a bless day! kajun32,  The South East Texas Oilman's is now called the "Toledo Bend Oilman's Classic" We changed the name a few years ago due to legal reasons while qualifying for 501 © status.  Check out their website "www.tbocbass.com"  This year registration is April 23rd, the tournament is the 24th and 25th.  This tournament is now open to Any US Military Veteran as well as our Oilfield Hands.  We would love to have readers of this great forum participate in this venue.  Our charitable donations go to Veteran organization in the LA & TX oilfield regions.    PS  Had a 20 sack in 2115 Thursday and bombed during the LOBI.  Baby Brush Hog watermelon magic, flipping the buckbrush.  Friday and Saturday not many bites until we figured out they moved out of the bushes and caught on a trick worm oh so slow between the brush.   Ask for Karl when you register for the TBOC in the 24th.  I would love to meet you guys.  I have read all 276 pages and I love it.  Thanks Catt for starting this off and for you that participate.  Quote

It's a sweet Carolina rig rod. Also, kistler makes a 7'6" H/MF KLX rod you could look at. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 30, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 30, 2015 PODNAH, Let me splain something dude! You have what most inexperenced anglers do not; you know where everything is! Ya say you knew Converse, A1, San Patricio, Blue Lake, 1215; guess what? They still there! The ridges, humps, drop offs, creek channels, roadbeds; the structure it's all still there. Yea the grass maybe gone but guess what; the timber, stumps, logs/laydowns are still there. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 30, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 30, 2015 Big Sack, How y'all are? Feel free to keep us updated on Oilman Quote

scott m Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 How are yall, been a while since I posted due to working in the oilfield and not having a schedule.Matter of fact I have not bass fished since last spring except down on the coast for redfish. Just got to Jasper this evening and was wondering if anyone could tell me how the spawn is going, from Housen south on the Texas side. I am not asking for spots but in general what fases we are in from Housen south for bass and crappie. My intentions are to bass fish but I may try catching a few crappie too. Thanks to all that post here, especially Catt. Quote
