Saltyredneck Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Fished yesterday from Pendleton LA side to Big Bass... heavy fog limited my ability to run north like I wanted. Boated my first keeper around 9am on a spawning flat in Negreet with a Stop N Go presentation. Three casts later I had my second 2lber in the boat. Worked the creeks alongside the flat and the flat pretty thoroughly with chatterbaits, senkos, rattltraps, and brushhogs. Moved out of the area and fished further north around Turtle Beach/Cypress bend. No bites. Switched over to a split shot fluke and boated another 2lber near cypress in 10 FOW close to spawning flat. Fog lifted around 1pm so I moved over to Texas side and caught one more keeper with the same approach in Oilwell. The majority of flats were around the 49-50 degree mark with our best temp reaching 52 on the texas side around 2 pm. I suspect the fishing only got better as the day progressed, since the air temps were 78 degrees and the sun was shining when i left at 230pm.  I scanned several groups of fish where creek beds intersected with the main creeks running to flats in the 15-20ft range. Tried finesse tactics with drop shots but to no avail. Our camp crew fishing separate areas only managed 1 keeper in one boat and 2 keepers in another.  The water was pretty in most of the coves we fished (Negreet, Oilwell, Cypress, Lowes) The back of Big Bass is very stained. bcody Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I'll be heading up to the Bend on Thursday as I want to witness the historic weather event first hand on the water! Looking like it'll be close to a +/- 40 degree temp drop in 24 hours. Thats impressive! I've fished in a TON of Toledo cold front's, but this one might take the grand prize! Â I'm fishing a small club tournament on Saturday / Sunday, so it'll be interesting for sure. The "plan" is to stay in Housen / Palo Guacho, but we'll see how that goes. Â I'll be sure to report back with something for sure. Quote
TylerRoshto Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Hey guys I've been reading this thread for almost an hour. Good stuff! I am fishing a club tournament on the 21st and me and my co-angler will be launching at the 1215 area and that's more than likely where we will be fishing at. Any particular spots I need to hit over there, and also what baits are going to work best for me? I only get to fish Toledo once every few years so keep in mind I know pretty much nothing about the lake. Quote
TylerRoshto Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Nvr mind, I was wrong on the dates. The tournament is tomorrow! Quote

Super User Catt Posted March 6, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 6, 2015 Salty & Bugz, every report helps! Salty you try the coves on the north side of Lowe's? Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Fished for a couple hours today before heading over to Rayburn. Caught one over 6 and a 2lber. Both on outside grass lines. Quote
kking Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Salty & Bugz, every report helps! Salty you try the coves on the north side of Lowe's? I tried some of the coves on the north side of lowes Tuesday in all the fog. I caught some small fish on the points using an a-rig. Didn't go very far up in them though. What would the water temp need to be for the move to shallow water? I was figuring mid 50s. Many thanks to everyone that has posted. A ton of good information. I hope to add some good catches in the future. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 8, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 8, 2015 kking, they are shallow already (4-8') There are 5 coves on the north side of Lowe's, I like the 2nd, 3rd, & Miil. Quote
LovestoFish Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 I've been reading this thread for a few months and have learned more here than i have in my 35 plus years of fishing.  Thank you so much Catt, Jack, ***atic,  Wesley and everyone else that post and share information on here. This sharing of information speaks to the quality of people on this thread and i feel very fortunate to be a part of it.  My dad and i are going to fish Patroon in a couple of weeks.  Hopefully, i will have a good report to share with everyone. I got a tournament there next weekend. Will prob fish those coves with brush hogs and fluke/senkos focusing on water around 3-4 ft. Does this sound like a decent starting place. My disadvantage is that I am fishing against ***atic . Just trying to make the top ten or so Quote
BassinHog Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Heading up for a tournament this weekend. Looking like a lot of water. I am sure water clarity will be iffy, but temps appear to be good. Catt, any reports of bass moving up on beds anywhere. They should be licking their chops to get up there. Should be plenty of water to move them up into the brush. Quote
BassMan9000 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Whats a good spot to fish in Negreet or the surrounding area? Be very specific (coordinates would help). Quote

Super User Catt Posted March 9, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 9, 2015 Right now where aint as important as when Bass are being caught from Logansport to the dam, if you're there at the right time. Baits very as much as when & where. That's the spawn on the Big Pond! Quote
shaneus Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Jerkin' ma chain, are ya?! Â no bass fisherman is going to give you coords. there is a certain sense of pride when it comes to fishing nick..... the best you are going to do is an area. and find them for yourself, maybe even get a few pointers on lure selection. read through the forum and follow along.......then take what we describe and see where it applies to the area of the lake you want to fish......we are not nearly as hard on you as the texas fishing forum, you would be ridiculed off the forum for your posts.......just a heads up.....everyone wants to catch fish, no one will give you their hole lol......... drobe Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 What are the water temps in the mid lake area right now? Quote
fishnla Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 this weekend started around 47 and went to 54 or so and as high as 57 in the back of muddy coves Quote

Im not asking for someone's "secret hole". Ive never been to the area and am not fimilar with the names of surrounding places so im just looking for a spot where fish are known to reside. If people cannot share general information then why are you on a "toledo bend fishing forum". Quote
shaneus Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 let me read back and ill break it down for you..... Quote
shaneus Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 i would personally fish negreet/brushy bay. it is where the biggest river arm empties and runs into what looks like the biggest spawning flats and the fish have access to deeper water.......start deep and work shallower as the sun warms the water up.....
