Bryanhester Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Fished yesterday for only a couple of hrs. Caught a couple of nice ones to 5lbs in the pads on a white swim jig. I didn't see anything that would indicate that the turnover has started. The water was still fairly clear. Quote
Texas Pride Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I dont have a boat but i fish from the shore can yall give me some ideas as where to fish from the shore Quote
RonnieF Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Bryan, It was great meeting you a few weeks ago. Where you introduced yourself was my most consistent spot. I'll be back up a week from Wednesday for 5 days. Hopefully I'll have some overcast and work over some peppergrass areas. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Ronnie, Are you fishing the BassCat Tx on the 25th? Ill be staying at Toledo Inn and fishing it. Hope to meet you!! Quote
RonnieF Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Fanatic, I'll be offshore & unable to attend. I sure wish I'd be able to contribute to the pot! It's a great group of guys & usually some scrumptious food. Good luck. Quote
jcdogfish Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I was planning to fish the BassCat tournament but I have a tournament down here that weekend. Looks like a good time, maybe next year. Quote
Hookn1 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I am new to the forum, and the last time I fished he bend was almost 20 ago. I am however coming up to fish the weekend of the 25th...I will likely only be fishing Friday and Saturday and thn headed back south east to more saltier waters. I was planning on fishing the negreet and turtle beach area with a focus on the upper NE end of the cove along the channels and timber falls.. Any suggestions or advice around that area of the cove would be appreciated....and if ur ever down SE la, I'd be happy to point in the reds/specs direction. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Welcome to the forums! I don't fish me greet much, but I would look for flats with deep water nearby and throw reaction baits. The fish should be shallow! Quote
LAkayakbass Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Another new forum member as well. This thread is highly informative for me and thanks are in order to all that are contributing. Having never fished Toledo Bend I'm trying to soak up as much as possible.  Are there any transition to Fall techniques that are working better than others? What is the current water temperature and has it dropped enough to push the bass and bait up shallow?  Thanks! Quote
shaneus Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I have been trying to deep ledge fish here lately. Biggest one last weekend was 4.5 caught 40 fish between me and dad. Drop shotting roboworms.fishing ledges in six mile and finding fish on the hummingbird. Fishing 14-35 ft. I've been mainly trying to find fish on my depth finder and trying to eliminate unproductive water.....I'm trying to get prepared best I can for fishing flw next year. Heading to the lake tonight to see if I can get my wife on some crappie........have yet to catch a Toledo crappie........ Quote
shaneus Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Anyone know what the crappie are doing in six mile? Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Haven't tried for crappie, but I caught bass on deep ledges 19-24 ft yesterday. Quote
Texas Pride Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I dont guess anybody is gonna awnser me wheres some good places to fish from the shore like park names and boat launches ect Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 It is tough out there right now. I've caught 78 in three trips this week, but all came on one hump. Besides that spot I just can't find em. As far as shore fishing, check out the state parks. Quote
shaneus Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 i always see people fishing at the six mile boat ramp, i  know you can catch fish walking down the bridge fishing either side but thats about it, if it is legal.....fanatic, ive been fishing one hump as well in six mile, went thursday with my dad and tied up to a tree caught a bunch on drop shop zoom worms, it was pretty windy.......on our way out i saw some big fish i think were bass on the graph, gunna start there next time.... Quote
LAkayakbass Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Fanatic and shaneus, Are you willing to say what depth the fish are coming out of? The overnight temps are supposed to be lower this week, maybe the fish will move up? Thanks! Quote
shaneus Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 look at fanatics previous post for depth from him......im fishing a different area and different depth. im fishing right in the middle of a creek that is 31-33 ft deep. i tied off to a tree and fished all day with my dad throwing that drop shot. theres alot of ledges and grass and brushpiles around, just fan casting.............look for schooling fish and they will bite lakayakbass!!! Quote
LAkayakbass Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Shaneus, got it, thanks for the input. I'll be arriving there this coming Thursday for practice and a kayak tournament on Saturday. Quote
Dam Yankee Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 I went for the first time from Thursday through yesterday since February. Had some relatives that never fished with a bait caster so i was busy rigging taking out birds nests etc... It was all about them having a good time. I did catch a few and so did they. Crig. tx rig. frog. spinnerbait. I also caught a few at deep depths up to 35 feet. I will be going back out after they leave every weekend until thanksgiving. Quote
jcdogfish Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 I've been catching a few on spinnerbait and swim jig covering a lot of water on the outside edge of the grass keeping the boat in 12-13 feet. I see lots of folks punching the deeper grass edges but I don't have the patience for that. I'm used to punching and pitching in 5' or less and deep pitching is a big adjustment. Toledo is kicking my butt, especially Six Mile. Big learning curve but I'll keep at it. Its a thing now between me and the lake and it is winning for now. A few more trips up there and then its time to winterize the camp and go deer hunting. I did notice a lot of fish in the deep creek channels. Looks like I should have dropped a line on them. Wonder why those are still deeper? Wonder if the lake dropping has anything to do with that. I caught more fish shallow 2-3 weeks ago and the schoolers have slowed down a lot. Super User Catt Posted October 21, 2014 Author Super User Posted October 21, 2014 How Y'all Are? Â Been extremely busy but looking at a trip around the first! Quote
mguidroz Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Catt, It's great to have you back. Everything is great. My last trip to the Bend, I landed a new PB 11.27. I will give more details when I have more time. Quote
jcdogfish Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I'm trying to squeeze in as many trips as I can before hunting season, then probably pick and choose in the cold months. Quote
