Bryanhester Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Did pretty well last night on ridges with grass on worms biggest 71/2. Caught prob. 15 or so before 11. Quote
Bryanhester Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Fished mouth of palo goncho and lowes. Punched in lowes before dark and fished the long ridge in the mouth of palo after dark. Should have fished later last night because today was tough with only 10 little ones. Quote
RonnieF Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Thanks for the report Bryan. Will you be there this weekend? Quote
ATX Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Hey fellas I was able to fish this weekend mostly in Indian Creek. I did fairly well on soft plastics mostly sinkos but found the top water bite was on until late in the morning. I was unable to land any big bass but my dad lost one we figured was around 5lbs. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 19, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 19, 2014 Do y'all night fish mainly during full/new moon or anytime you have the opportunity? The best time to go fishing is anytime you can go fishing! I've every phase there is & caught on all of em! Quote
shoepick Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 After reading some of yalls post about the amount and how big y'all catch um I'm like ... wow! Quote
RonnieF Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Thanks Catt. I sure found your mention of a dd22 lure used at night very interesting. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 20, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 20, 2014 When I first started night fishing in the early 70s it was new moon only, then I went through a full moon only phase, & now it doesn't matter I just go. Most anglers are scard to throw cranks at night Quote
ATX Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 The few times Ive night fished when it wasn't A big moon I had trouble tying knots, untangling lures and anything else I needed to see. My boat just doesn't have much lighting. However I recently obtained a nice lithium lantern that should help with that issue. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I got on the water yesterday at 6:30. Had a guy idle up to me and asked for a scale. I pulled out my scale and weighed a 11.72lb fish he caught trolling a crank bait. It was a stud!!! I then fished around mid lake and had 24lbs by 830. Caught a 6, a 5.5, and two close to 5lbs, and a 3.5. Had a lot of 3lbers too on a football jig. Big fish weren't on the jig tho. Fished till 1am and didn't catch a fish after dark. The main lake was too rough to fish after dark so I was scrambling looking for new stuff in creeks. Sounds like others caught em at night tho. That's how it goes I guess. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 20, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 20, 2014 ATK, goto Wally World, Academy, Dick's, Kmart & purchase a small cap light. I have one that has 5 LEDs, it clips to the bill off my hat, & yes it's white. Forget all you hear about needing red, green, or blue light, yes white will affect your night vision but only for seconds. Ya aint flying a fighter jet & ya aint in a hurry! I also suggest buying a Brinkmann Maxmillion III q-beam, it will light up 3-4 buoys ahead. If ya aint familiar with the lake don't run wide open throttle! I like running with some one who can spot rurns before I get there & will search the water ahead for floaters. Quote
herruberraschen Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Catt, amazing thread and resource you've created. Would you say that you essentially approach night fishing the same as day fishing? Quote

Many Boy Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Sounds good to me! Fanatic, you have to fish without hooks- just to give the rest of us half a chance! Ha! Just kidding. Count me in! 1 Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Ok so far we've got ManyBoy, henrylewis, and myself. Â I've also invited a few guys around where I live. Â I think we are up to 5 boats for sure and about 5 maybe's. Â The more people we get, the better. Â Should be alot of fun and hopefully at the weigh in we can share what we did with one another to try and help one another out for future trips. Â Quote
Many Boy Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I may be able to drum up a few more friends to fish with us. I'll post updates if I get any confirmations. 1 Quote
