I'm gonna try them again tomorrow. I guess everybody and their Momma gonna be out there tomorrow with the Oilmans!

Catt, with the temp at 48 in the morning, do you think I would do better to try them a little deeper or will they still be biting good shallow? Or should I just wait a little later in the day to go once it warms up? I don't seem to adjust very well after a front with cooler temps and high pressure. I would think the bass wouldn't move from their beds once committed like they are now but do they lockjaw?

This front aint enough to move em, just enough to give em lockjaw.

Y'all be carefull out there it's gonna be windy!!!

Fought the gale force winds and crowd . Every area that was out of the wind was stacked boats. Anyway covered a lot of ground. I had some ol boy catch an attitude, accusing me of cutting him off. There was an area that he arrived to first; therefore, I let him have first choice. He headed one way, then 180'd, then 180'd again. When it finally appeared that he committed to one direction, i went in behind him and headed the other way. He 180'd again, and started accusing me of cutting him off. He said of few words, saluted me and took off. I hope he ended up having a better day. I always try to be courteous. Maybe i don't understand the unwritten rules of "engagement".

We fished the back of Yoakum and some coves south of there. Boated 18, 9 keepers. Sack would go 15#, with largest being 4.5#. Saw a few beds, some empty, others w males. I guess they spawned out in that area

My 14 year old high school is having a tournament this Sat. . So we'll be back at em next week.. I'm gonna fish Friday and see if I can't find some bigger fish down south. Hopefully some on beds.

With all the rain do y'all think tomorrow would be worth a 2hr drive. Not suppose to be to windy so may try to find some sight fish !!!

Why yea!

Best time go is any time ya can go ;)

Bryanhester,

I agree with Catt! The weather don't usually cooperate this time of year, either rainy or windy or both. One thing about this time of year on TB though, you just never know when you gonna hook into the new lake record!! Besides, a day of fishing is never wasted, I cant think of anything better to be doing.

Good luck, maybe I'll see you there!

Go! The lake is hot and just gonna get better over the next 2 weeks.

Hello Everyone, I just found this Site and am really enjoying the forum, I have not read it as of yet but have got a map and ready to start from the beginning and try to learn this lake and be able to break it down. Me and my sons are wanting to become better fishermen, and without haveing a mentor to show us things and how to become better I am going to rely a lot on I can learn from you all. I wish I could find a bass club that fishes both sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend for I cant find one near Kirbyville. My son is fishing the High school Tournament and right now they are in 77th place and really need to make a showing in order to move up. so any advice would be helpfull. Teach me I am willing to learn and want to become a better fisherman for I am so tired of donating money to tournaments and never placing. will do almost anything to become better and really willing to get mentored.

Welcome arvalbutler! I'm new myself but have learned so much about Toledo from this forum. I would suggest starting from the beginning and copy/paste the teaching to a Word document so you can organize according to date/location/technique. I printed everything out so I can refer to it with my map while I'm fishing. I've loaded all the waypoints into my GPS and spending time riding and mapping. I haven't been fishing seriously for long even though I grew up in Many and still need to learn so much. I'm like you, having tried everything, from reading to hiring multiple guides and just can't seem to get Toledo figured out, at least not on a consistent basis with decent stringers. This forum has taught me more than anything I have learned anywhere, this thing is awesome and some really awesome guys have contributed to it.

The club idea sounds great! I would definitely like to be a part of that. I work 28/28 so I'm home only every other month but I would love to have a part in whatever would be needed to kick it off, whether it be some leg work, emails, monetary, etc. I would be honored to contribute whatever I could, considering all that everyone has done on this forum, it's the least I could do. If it looks like a go, Please let me know what is needed.

Club would be cool.

Fished today from about 11 to 3. Only caught 5 they were spread out in 6-10 fow. Caught on arig, spinnerbaits, and traps. Nothing with any size.

Fished Saturday, caught 2 decent fish in the back of Buck creek right off and then nothing after that. It was muddy and 64 degrees and crowded. Tried back of Mill creek, nothing but wind and crowds. Loaded up and went to San Miguel. Caught 10-12 off points and ridges, couldn't find anything in the backwater. Caught everything on plastic from wacky to craw worm. Water was 61 on main creek. Had a decent day but they weren't exactly tearing it up. Looking forward to this week after Wed, forecast is looking nice! After this past weekend, I think I'm gonna do like Catt, find something healthier to do on weekends than deal with the boat rage!

Wesley, you get your boat going? I think you're coming in at just the right time. Only one I've heard of getting some good ones with any consistency is Catt. Go figure!

Ok I will contact bass federation and find out what we can do to create a bass club! Unless y'all want to do something different, and we can vote of how we want to run the club. We can also create officers, and so forth. We will have to decide of how we create tournaments and so forth, please provide input. On what y'all want to do.

One reason I've held off on a get together is over crowded weekends during the spawn. I want serious competition with out traffic & wind.

A club would have to be on-line because of everyone's schedules.

I don't like over complicated, plain & simple!

If I wanted to be like bass federation...I'd belong to bass federation!

I like just hanging around other anglers of like interests, talking BS, & relaxing. Ya know kinda like here!

Man! And I hate a buzz bait! In fact, I hate a buzz bait AND a spinner bait! Guess I'll have to tie one on and try it everyday until I get better with them. We tried a chatter bait with limited success Sat.

Cool! I absolutely love a buzzbait, especially at night!!! Last week I actually caught 6 nice fish on a white buzz bait w/ white blade, 5.9 lbs was biggest! Also caught a few on black back/ gold rouge and TR watermelon lizard. I will be at them tomorrow am!
