shaneus Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Welcome Henry to the world of competitive bass fishing.......don't always catch em, gotta start planning for the next one. Try to learn something from this one Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Keep at it Henry...I've got my butt kicked more times than I dare to mention. It takes time and practice, but it will pay off! Quote
cajunpapi Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Henry, did you learn anything ? Was it an enjoyable experience? You are very young to expect to much in your first tournament, if this was easy everyone could go out and catch fish. You need to put your time in to gain experience and knowledge. Fishing ain't easy! Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 12, 2014 Author Super User Posted January 12, 2014 Fishing is easy...it's the catching that's hard 1 Quote
henrylewis Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Yes sir it wad fun & I did learn a lot of stuff thanks to my boat captain & also taught my partner a lot to Quote
TxGator Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I think the boys had a good time, even though they didnt catch. There were a lot of folks at the weigh in that didnt catch. Having got the first one under their belt they know some things to work on and Im sure they will improve. On the way home we talked about what went right and what need improvement. Between now and their next one on Feb 1, they will be working on their casting abilities, and hopefully I can get the boat in the water for them to work on boat control. They are both new to trying to keep the boat in the sweet spot if you want to call it that. All in all, I feel like it was a pretty good day. Thanks for all yalls help. Gator Quote
BulletDon Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 geez luis, I am out for two weeks and had a lot of post to catch up on regarding the bend. Will be back there first part of March. Quote

shaneus Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 well i hate these reports, thursday went from 6-130 wind 12-18 mph out of the south was brutal but the new basscat did great. loaded up without a single bite......i put in at north toledo bend state park ramp to try to start preparing for a tournament. i threw texasrigs, spinnerbaits, squarebills, rattle traps, umbrella rig. i fished la nana, san miguel, martinez cove? (northwest of chicken coop) wit no luck. the water with the south wind looked like chocolate milk everywhere except the coop, it was dirty but not as dirty as the rest of the areas i fished. i know the water up north is dirtier than where im at in six mile but it was horrible, is this normal up there? any insight to fishing north of pendelton bridge is welcomed at this point........................i dont have that much time on the water as i used to with the wedding coming up, the next time i hit the lake will be for the tournament, i will be white bass fishing with the fiancee though since i promised her...............lake house is almost finished got all the flooring down, all thats left is cabinets, tape and float sheetrock, and put up the rough cut wood......hopefully its done before the spawn, but i have it to where i can stay in it for now! Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 17, 2014 Author Super User Posted January 17, 2014 North lake is dirtiet than mid-lake which is dirtier than sourh lake. 6-Mile is dirtier than Housen or Mill. Quote
Express Kid Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 What was the water temp Shaneus? I hope my boat will be in this week and I can be back on the water this coming weekend. Quote

TxGator Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Henry, when we were done fishing the tournement on Toledo, do you remember me talking about Zebra Muscles and water hyacin. Here is some more information. Though others might like to see it as well. Bearonthewater Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Looks like the Bend is getting mixed ice / sleet / rain today? Am I reading the Weather Channel Radar correctly? Temps 34 deg down to 25 tonight? Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 24, 2014 Author Super User Posted January 24, 2014 Rain, sleet, snow in Lake Chuck! Gonna kill some grass for sure Quote
Bearonthewater Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Hey Catt, While it appears no one is fishing and you mentioned the killing of grass............... Can you offer any tips or information towards the cold effect this has on the grass beds on Toledo? Also, is any particular type of grass is affected by the cold weather more than others? Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 25, 2014 Author Super User Posted January 25, 2014 I saw pictures of Steven Johnson's place on the Bend, 3-4" of snow & ice! This weather is one of the few things that will kill Giant Salvinia! It will help kill all matted grass probably down a couple more feet than normal, which will slow re-growth. By pre-spawn we will have a well defined inside grass line which will impove fishing. I'm more pumped about our local marshes which should be killer ehen they open on March 15th. Quote
henrylewis Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Any one going out on the lake this weekend? Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 2, 2014 Author Super User Posted February 2, 2014 Sure is quite round here! Quote
Express Kid Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Sure is Catt. I've been busy at red river prefishing for a club touney. We will be on the bend on March 1 so yaw keep the updates coming. 1 Quote
