Went to Buck and Indian creek today I really like the area, any tips on how to fish it this time of year will be appreciated. Hit lots of points with crank baits and jigs and caught nothing. I will be back Friday and Sat. God willing. Is anyone catching anything now? I hear the fish are still in the grass off ridges. Give me a shout this weekend Dam Yankee.Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. God bless and thanks for all of the help guys. Quote

Super User Catt Posted December 2, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 2, 2013 Weather lookin good May have to make a break for it Quote
bullet20 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Take a run at it catt.I would if I lived that close.lol I saw a report of a guy catching on drop shot last week.Nothing big but had 21 keepers. Crappie should be starting in the chicken coop. Quote
Express Kid Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I did not catch many bass last week a few small ones on watermellon red fluke and PB&J jigs. I did see a few people casting C rigs and T rigs. I went up to the coop Friday morning and caught 6 Crappie and one catfish. a few boats out and trying but bite was real slow. Water temp ranged between 55 and 58 degrees through out the day. I did see large schools of shad and sevel schools of fish but just could not get a bite going. several people fishing spoons and jigs for bass off the bluffs but did not see anyone catch any. I tried a spoon for a while until I lost it in the stumps (another $10.00 gone) and the boats that were fishing seemed to mostly be drifting. The guy at Pendelton Harbor Marina said it should get better in about two weeks, I hope so. If anyone gies up keep us posted on how they are doing and I will do the same. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 3, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 3, 2013 Water aint cold enough for the Coop Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 4, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 4, 2013 I don't bout Hemphill but my weather in southwest Louisiana is perfect. This morning at 4:38 it was still 70, foogy, winds light Spinner Bait! Quote
cajunpapi Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Went out Tuesday for about 5 hours. Fished jig,T- rig worm, trap, and spinnerbait in Yocum area. The wind would gust up to about 15 to 20 from the south southeast. Water temp 59. My small boat kept me off main lake. Fished timber point had one on jig but he unhooked. Fished grass line and small creek, nothing. Was unable to pick up fish on graph just couldn't find them. First time out in months and will be  trying again thursday, before front. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 4, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 4, 2013 Yocum huh! Gilbert, Wilson, or Yocum? What depth ya searching? What depth ya get the jig fish in? I know how you feel in a small boat with wind, what I do is trailer a lot. Quote
cajunpapi Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Catt, I was fishing south point of Yocum with sparse timber N31.1944, W93.3645 area.I was fishing 15ft to 25ft.There is a little creek runs in that area. I was sitting in 15 ft when I hung fish. I just moved my camper to this area recently and not familiar with Gilbert or Wilson. I fished this area because I felt like I needed to learn my back yard first. After that I do plan to boat to other areas that have been covered in this thread. Any suggestions in this area would be appreciated. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 4, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 4, 2013 One reason I love Toledo is each area fishes different, Yocum is different than the Texas side straight across from it. I'd tend to target wood more, standing timber, brush, lay downs, & then add grass to this. Stay with the same 15' + or - 3'. Quote
mguidroz Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Catt, So does wood, brush, etc and then add grass apply to certain areas of the lake or entire? Thanks for your feedback. Quote

Super User Catt Posted December 5, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 5, 2013 Usually around Christmas the grass will start dying so I'll start keying on timber more. I'll move off the main lake & into creeks starting at mouth. While I'll move off the main lake I DO NOT abandon it! Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 5, 2013 Author Super User Posted December 5, 2013 In certain areas wood is more productive than grass, certain times of the year wood is more productive than grass. Pre-spawn/spawn buck brush is prime, I seldom fish it the rest of the year. Quote
mguidroz Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Anyone going to the big pond to fish this weekend.....NOT ME. I'm not mad at them. lol Quote

RonnieF Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Hi guys. I've finally returned from the lurker status. When the change over took place months back my login stuff got messed up so I just lurked. I mainly fish north of Pendleton in San Miguel, Patroon, and Clear Creek areas. I work 14/14 so I head up during my days off nearly every time off. I'm in a Bass Cat Cougar, white/yellow bolt/purple trim and yellow/purple flames on the cowling. If any of y'all see me, stop by and say hi. I may be headed to the camp monday or tuesday. Y'all stay warm! Â Thanks to all the guys participating in this informative thread. Â Ronnie Quote
