I have a class on the 19th that's from 9 am - 6 pm!

Let me see if I can skip coaching on the other days.

Where's your reply on early memories? ;)

my first taste of the big bend was in the spring of 90.  I was attending college in Shreveport at Centenary College on a baseball scholarship.  I became real good friends with an umpire that called our games.  We went fishing a lot around the area fishing a lot of backwater sloughs and what not.  We took a three day weekend and fished the bend.  He had a good ole stick steer boat and I was in the back.  I remember fishing one particular area and he turned the boat to the left just a bit and allowed me to fire a long cast past this log with a spinnerbait.  I slow rolled that bait by that laydown and WHAM and 5.5 lber.  I remember it like it was yesterday.

Thanks for bring back the memory Catt

I was at the bend all last week, fishing was tough, Wednesday had our club tournament, 6# is in the lead, caught fish Tuesday before the rain, and not a single thing keeper size Wednesday! Went from winning to dead last lol. Not to mention lost a 100$ net and broke a rod, fished 6-mile housen and julie creek......all in all a great week @the lake, for the house all wired up......

Fishing has been great the last two weeks!! I've been smashing them!! Depending on conditions usually the new/full moon in September really starts to kick things off. The feeding activity has really began to pick up.

My grandparents lived off of FM 3449 so I spent a lot of time next to the big pond when I was young running the woods and fishing when it wasn't freezing outside. We used to spend ever spring break up there fishing in 6 mile throwing spinner baits and gold rogues up against the buck brush. My best memory of T-Bend is one summer we got on a school of fish off shore and tore them up on cran apple worms T-Rig style. Needless to say we had a good fish fry after a couple of days of fishing. If I can find the pictures I will post. Good times on Toledo Bend.

Morning yall. Just a heads up. I was approached by my neighbor yesterday asking if I would be willing to be their boat driver for a high school fishing tournament that they will be starting in December. I said I would, but I advised them that I am not too good at locating fish. I directed him here and told him that I highly suggeseted he read ALL 170 pages of posts and take notes. If I understand correctly they will be fishing both Toledo and Rayburn so they have a lot of learning to do.

This discussion has been a huge help to me and i believe that they can learn a lot from it too.

Thanks to all,

Gator

Long Mike:  I have a small club tournament on Oct 19th and 20th out of Lowe's Creek and will not be on the Bend until then.  I will be interested to see how you do.  Good luck and have a great time.

My first trip to the Bend was in 1974.  I joined the Conroe Bass Club and had a tournament there.  We fished in Veach Basin and tore the bass up on a bleeding shad rattle trap and won the tournament.  The fish were there both Sat. and Sunday.  One of the best days I ever had.

There's a Mercury repair shop at Six Mile.  Great mechanic and very honest.

I was on the Texas side just south of Millionaire Point. Marker # is TX 75. I assume not many people in this thread venture that far north. I asked if anyone had tips/pointers for the Patroon/Palo Gouch area a few weeks ago with no replies. Good luck all and be safe.

Haven't had time to get back on here but, I did do pretty well when I went out this past Monday. Grass line is where it is at! Lost a really good one on the second cast of the morning though. Too big to flip. I went to lip him and he gave a powerful shake and broke my line.

Grass line...grass line...grass line!
