Dam Yankee Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 It has been a few months since I have been on the lake. I usually fish the Toro area and know it pretty well but, I still have a few favorite spots in the Housen area and six mile. Gotta figure out what is going on so when my 82 year old dad gets here at the end of next month I can put him on some fish. Could be his last trip to see me. Quote
Dam Yankee Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Why is there a line through my entire previous post? Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 14, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 14, 2013 Don't know what happened! I can not do that, ask a mod! Quote
Dam Yankee Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Very strange. Oh well. No biggie. Keep posting Catt and company! I am soaking all of this up like a sponge. Quote
back water Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 You have the right approach Dam Yankee - when you get to our age (80's) you never know when your going to draw your last breath. Just hope it is fast and your in the midst of doing what you enjoy. Keep a tight line!!!!! 1 Quote
shaneus Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Guys when someone pms you how/ where to fish, please do not post specific areas on the open forum for all potlickers to see......there were lots of boats in hurricane this morning....im sure no one minds helping one another but we dont want it broadcasted, we have tournaments coming up too........my goal on the forum is to help the people who share and contribute...... 3 Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 15, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 15, 2013 Housen', Hurricane, & the Community Flat are extremely popular so expect company. I'm aware of several anglers from other web sites who monitor this thread salivating at the chance of learning a GPS point or two. Sadly they had me as a member of their site but because I refused to give them exact GPS location they became upset. Some even copy what we write & post it on their site. Quote
Express Kid Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I love what you guys have here. I just found you and would like to be a part of what yaw are doing. I have recently started bass fishing again after 10 years of only crappie fishing. My 17 year old son told me that he wants to learn how to bass fish and that I never took the time to teach him. I am sure you all know how that made me feel. I have promissed him that I will do everything I can to teach him how to bass fish and to be successful at it. We are from the Alexandria area but i was raised on the north end from circle drive to converse bay area. I bass fished up there a lot years ago but now i am on the south end and lost. I never learned how to fish this deep water. We are looking for a good bass club to join that would mostly focus on TB. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the info you have posted and please keep it up all of you. people like me need it so that I can help this boy get hooked for a lifetime. I am not reading this to fish your spots. I am reading that I might be able to use your tips in spots that I am finding. Thanks and God bless. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted September 16, 2013 Super User Posted September 16, 2013 Why is there a line through my entire previous post?  You must have inadvertently hit the "strike-through" button when typing your post. I fixed it for you.  Mike Goodson Moderator 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 16, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 16, 2013 5 yrs ago I started this threa; we are now @ 168 pgs, 2511 replies, 284,767 views which is pretty impressive. Over these many years I have tried (with God's help) to remain laid back & not let differences in personalities bother me; but today I'm going to rant a little bit. We are all of different personalities & we will from time to time step on each others toes, bump each others elbows, & bruise each others egos. We as adults need to suck it up & get over ourselves; this thread is too helpful to others to let egos get in the way. I'm not addressing anyone in particular so don't let it go to your head. Thank You & May God Bless! Tommy (Catt) Thibodeaux 1 Quote
Express Kid Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Thanks Catt I simply wanted to say thank you and how important this site is to me. I look forward to the time that i can add some good info to the pot and maybe help anyone that might need some info about what the fish are doing. I am going to spend the week at Big Bass Marina starting this Thursday through Sunday and will be watching the post for any thing i can use. I have never fished here before so it will be a good time to recall what i have learned from you. Jigs and TR worms in deep water. maybe i can find some spots to try the drop shot. never done that before but want to learn. Thanks again if I find anything interesting I will post it. Quote

Super User Catt Posted September 18, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 18, 2013 What I ran y'all off Quote
Bearonthewater Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Nope. Â Still watching and waiting for the great Catt to challenge us again. Â But in the meantime, I'll ask a question: Â Pardon my ignorance on the subject, but does anyone have any interesting input, experiences, or stories regarding the submerged bridges and railroads located on the lower end of TB? Â I know where most of them are located, but just curious if they can be a substantial factor certain times of the year. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 There is a certain bridge in 30 ft in the middle of Housen that can be awesome during Jan. and Feb. but I havent caught much off of it the rest of the year. Â I've fished the tracks in Sandy Creek and caught some fish, but they were relating more to the grass than the tracks I believe. Â Quote
back water Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 The average Bass fisherman doesn't get the opportunity to fish as much as some of the bass fishing fanatics on this forum. I would like to participate more, but I only get to fish the Bend about twice a year. Therefore, I cannot be real active in participating in the weekly activities. That being said, Jack (fishingfordollars)- God rest his soul and Catt have always been accommodating in giving current information when asked. I don't mean telling their fishing holes, but lake levels, water clarity, baits the fish are hitting, water depth the fish are holding on, where the fish are moving ect. ect. ect. This gives the casual angler a place to start and I am forever grateful. Thank you Catt!! Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 19, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 19, 2013 My first stringer (8 bass) was caught while fishing a railroad track located some where north of the cross over lane that runs from Indian Mounds & the Louisiana side. And east of the north/south lane 2. Know where that @? There is some old wooden bridge supports up near Carrice! Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted September 19, 2013 Super User Posted September 19, 2013 Off topic, but every mention of Jack (Fishfordollars) brings back so many fond memories. Jack took me under his wing and was both a mentor and a close friend - and I miss him - a lot. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 19, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 19, 2013 Mike ya welcome here any time to talk about any thing! When y'all coming down to the Big Pond Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 19, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 19, 2013 Ok guys if you are reading this please post Give you're earliest memories of Toledo Bend! I first saw The Big Pond in late fall of 1968, my dad & I were going deer hunting near Leesville. Dad decided to drive by the dam & look around, I remember standing on top of the levee looking out over the flooded timber thinking one day I'm going to the this. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 First time I went to Toledo was camping with my grandparents. My cousin and I were about 10 years old and we brought a 20 horse merc and rented a 12ft jon boat to put it on. Â We launched at North Toledo State Park and ran that boat all the way to the Chicken Coop. Â Got in alot of trouble when everyone found out we ran that across the lake...but we did catch a few fish!
