ATX Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 If you are going to be near the South End of TB I've seen people catching them in Indian Creek near the 255 bridge. I've spotted them on the end of Buzzard Point, also in Indian Creek. I would use little beatle spins on light tackle but a good ol box of night crawlers never fails on bluegill. Good luck and if you find em pick up a 1/2 oz jig when she gets her fill on the perch, might just find a bucket mouth hanging around. Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 6, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 6, 2013 Y'all been up a creek lately? Quote
Bearonthewater Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Hey Catt, Just curious as to your comments about Six Mile and how "everyone runs to it". What is the special attraction to Six Mile area............or what makes it stand out compared to so many other great areas of TB? Is it the: types of shorelines? submerged road beds? submerged railroad beds? water depths / humps? creek channels in relation to land? type / quality / percentage of grass beds? I've started to fish / learn that area a bit but obviously need much more time on the water there. Any input as to whether North or South sides better than the other or best seasonal patterns? I love a challenge and planning to get back there within a few weeks. Those recent pictures Shaneus and Bass_Fanatic posted have got me worked up....... Congratulations to both! Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 6, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 6, 2013 The Housen' & 6-Mile area produces more DD bass! The lake record & the second largest came from 6-Mile. I've caught 22 DD bass on Toledo, 5 from 6-Mile, 5 from the main lake, 7 from Housen' including my PB of 12.8. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Well guys, had a buddy call me up late yesterday evening and wanted to go fishing. We packed up and headed west to Toledo. Got to the lake at 11:00 p.m. and fished till 9:00 a.m. Caught 21 fish, best five weighing 34lbs!!!! This ties my personal best 5 fish limit, both times out of Toledo. Best bite was from 12-3. My buddy caught a 9lber on the first cast at my main spot and shortly after I boated a 8.45lber. We bounced around all night, but everytime we came back to my main 10 yard stretch we caught good fish. I caught the 8.45lber and two 7lbers there and my buddy caught the 9lber. We broke off 2 BIG fish, an easy 7+. I think we had the bites for a 40lb stringer last night, but its so much brush, grass, and stumps its hard to catch every bite. All fish were caught on a 12" black/blue worm around a certain channel bend. Also right before we left at 9, there were fish schooling EVERYWHERE. I know I saw at least 10 different schools of fish busting shad halfway back in the creek. We caught a few, but then had to get home. Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 7, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 7, 2013 Dude that's awesome! Y'all best not be up a creek Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 8, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 8, 2013 No one been to the back of Housen' Quote
bullet20 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Great job.can't wait to get up there this fall to do the Jig thing. We strugled a few weeks back down by six mile. Quote
ATX Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I made it back to T.B. this weekend and was able to fish most of the day sat. The weather was mostly great and i had a blast fishing around Texas island. The only thing that could have been better is if my jig managed to get bit. I pictched all day and only caught two bass! I probable should have tried something different but could not put it down. I just kept thinking the next pitch she was going to enhale it. No such luck. Also congrats ***atic! Thats the stringer i dream about. Anyway, im back to work and the drawing board. Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 9, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 9, 2013 I tend to do better around the Texas island with a T-Rig or Wacky Rig. Early spring & late fall a C-Rigged lizard. Quote
RNG521VX Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Been reading this thread for about a week now and all I can say is WOW! There's so much info here I don't think I can possibly remember it all. I have fished TB mostly Six Mile and Housen area for the past 3-4 years and am another admitted "bank beater". I purchased a pair of HDS 8's and it has really changed my perspective on offshore fishing. My goto lake has been Rayburn but really want to spend more time on TB. My question is this...I have a tournament out of Holly Park in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions.I have looked at the maps and see the main river channel swings close to the bank on the north and south sides of the Pendleton Bridge. Would this be a good place to start prospecting? I do love a good topwater bite as well (spook or frog). Just figured I'd test the waters closer to the launch before I make the long run to Housen. I'll post results as I get them. Thanks again Gentlemen! Quote
BulletDon Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Shane, I am all for starting a thread about wanting to learn Rayburn. 1 Quote

RNG521VX Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I'd contibute to a Rayburn topic. Have learned it quite well over the past few years. Still have more to learn though. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I've never been on Rayburn, but I would love to learn it!! Quote
shaneus Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I have a tournament Wednesday this week and I have located another big school of fish, it amazes me I figured out one thing and transferred it to other areas on the lake and big fish were there also. it's much more fun making money vs just spend it on gas and fishing equipment 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 13, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 13, 2013 Catching is more than fun than fishing Quote
shaneus Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Catt are you fishing this weekend? anyone else? Quote
hunterfishes Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Good afternoon everyone This is Hunter's father he has not been on the forum for several days as he was required to not cotact anyone for the week before his tournament, and has been busy with school since. We had a tough tournament. First off let me say the information of depth and color and fishing advice you provided to hunter was on the money, using this info we located the winning fish in Hurricane creek sadly hunter did not catch them there were several other tournament boats on the fish as well and for some reason we could not get bit on Sunday we watched fish being caught around us but he only caught 9 short fish. It was disapointing to say the least. Hunter handled it well he kept his head up and never quit trying (he did a lot better than me) I do want to thank everyone on the forum for their help and advice, and to anyone new let me advise you to read this forum as these guys do know what they are talking about. Now I guess I better get on the rayburn page now as we are fishing there next weekend in our team championship (yea I get to fish in this one daddy's happy) if it contains half of what this one does it will be invaluable Thanks again . hunterfishes Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Shaneus yes Hunter and I will be on Rayburn this weekend practicing Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 14, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 14, 2013 Hunter & Dad y'all welcome, wish the out come would have been different. Quote
Dam Yankee Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I don't know what high strung means & don't care! You remind me of Jack because he knew Rayburn but Toledo kicked his rear. Heck he knew Rayburn, Conroe, Livingston, & Fork. We had planned on fishing tournaments together starting the month he died. Miss that boy I never met Jack but, he sure had no problem helping me out. We were supposed to meet but, God had different plans. RIP Jack. 1 Quote
