Bass_Fanatic Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 From Lowe’s creek south always dominates When I was in Lowes a few weeks ago there were a ton of fish on beds. Catt, do you think that there will still be enough bed fish next weekend to even fish for? If we fill a quick limit, should I go lookin for a big momma on a bed or do you think they will all be done by then? Quote

Dam Yankee Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Someone make it stop! Finally got a day I can go and lake wind advisory in effect today. 10 to 20 mph with gusts to near 30 mph. I think I will just watch the airing of last weekend on ESPN2 this morning instead. Lake wind advisory is where I draw the line on whether or not to make the drive from leesville. It just isn't worth the gas with a forecast like that!! Quote

It just isn't worth the gas with a forecast like that!! I was out on the lake Thursday through Saturday and the winds were rough. Friday I found a good top water bite but for my tournament Sat. it was gone. We caught our fish in 8-10 foot of water near grass or brush piles. We won our tournament with 14.33. Our big fish was 3.95 with another 3.5 both caught on jigs near deep water. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 25, 2011 Author Super User Posted April 25, 2011 Congratulation on the win! The bass should be back on summer structure & the winds should die after dark Quote
Dam Yankee Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Another lake wind advisory for today. I'm starting to get frustrated. Quote

FROG11 Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Can you guys give me a few tips for this weekend? I'll be back up there Thursday - Sunday and I'll be taking quite a few people fishing who don't fish all that much. So looking for more action than we are big fish. Just looking to catch as many bass as possible. Suggestions? I was up there a couple weeks ago..but the weather has been consistently warm ever since we left, so I'm sure the fish will be completely postspawn/early summer patterns, right? Thanks in advance! Bass_Fanatic Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Topwater early, then try a trap or spinnerbait in 6ft with grass. Once that bite slows, go back through it with a wacky worm. Then back off in 12ft. with cranks and carolina rigs. Downsize your baits too. Use a centipede or 4" senko for your c-rig and you will get bit alot more and catch a few good ones. Quote

Definately a top water early, try a soft body swim bait near grass, or a wacky worm/t-rig trick work with splitshot. Later in the day back off into 10-12 foot of water and slowfish, c-rig, jig etc. Quote
FROG11 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Thanks for the tips! I'll let y'all all know how it goes when I get back on Sunday. Justin Quote
JeffJordan Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I'm driving down to Toledo Bemd this Sunday. I'm bringing my Skeeter to Toledo Bend Fiberglass to have them put a new Gorilla Hull on it Monday-Friday. I punctured the hull last month on Lake Fork. I'm going to spend Monday/Tuesday replacing the carpet on the trailer but after that I would like to have someone take me out on the lake for a couple of days. Anyone feeling charitable? Catt, or anyone want to share their bass fishing knowledge and secrets with me. I haven't been to TB for a while. I'll bring three rods with me and a small amount of tackle and a little gas money. You can contact me via my cell phone, call, text message or email. 918 814-0474, bigbass.jj@gmail.com I'll be getting a newer Skeeter if anyone is looking for a boat mine will be for sale. 2004 ZX225 $23,000. http://ads.boatboss.com/211_Tulsa/42916_2004_Skeeter_ZX225_VMAX.html Quote
FROG11 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 It is WINDY up here guys! We've caught quite a few topwater fish early and late in the day, but really struggle during the daylight hours. Pretty frustrating. Only certain places out of the wind and those all have 20 boats in them. Still catching them early and late though. Had an opportunity for a fish I estimate at 7 lbs but it jumped off 5 feet from the boat and threw my popper back at me. Other than that, had a few 3-4 lbers. Fishing again this afternoon and tomorrow morning, we'll see what we can do. Justin Quote

Bass_Fanatic Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 My club, Southern Boyz Bass Club, finished 16th out of 84 clubs this past weekend in the ALBC Best Six tournament. We weighed in 64lbs of fish in 2 days with a 8.02lb and 6lb kickers! That was good enought for a check. And the best part is...WE WON A BOAT!!! It is a Nitro Z7 with a 150 Opti on the back. We are selling it and splitting the money between the 6 of us. All our fish were caught in Housen, Six Mile, and the Meghee Flats on jigs, chatterfrogs, RI Skinny Dippers, Chug Bugs, Buzzbaits, and Cranks. We had a blast and cant wait to fish the Bend agian!! 1 Quote
