Back when the lake was flooded 41 yrs ago many of the names were what locals called them, maps printed in the late 70s-80s had these names on them now many of these names no longer appear or the locations has changed.

Rebel Ridge is now Goodloe Bluff, due to real estate sales Millionaire's Point is now the entire peninsula instead of the eastern most point on the main lake. Gone from Hwy 87 are the 2 signs "Big Sandy & Little Sandy" now it's just big sandy or ask someone where "Sammy Gill" is located.

I guess I'm what I've been accused of; stubborn, hard headed, & set in my ways

Catt, I am the same way . I was use to the old names and now people are calling them different names. I guess we just have to learn both.

Same thing over here on Rayburn. Most people have never heard of the Amber forrest. I doubt but a few even know where it is now.

I got out late yesterday. Caught a few on a jig and a 10" worm fishing the deeper grass lines out off the north end of the Black forrest. Trick worm as always will catch a few dragging it off the grass. Better fish as always are closer to the deeper sides.

SkeeterDon,

What is the brand of your boat alarm and pager and where did you buy it?  I searched the web and only found one boat alarm available for bass boats in that price range.  It looked to be labor intensive to install--had to install a device on each compartment door.

It was really a piece of cake to be honest with you.  If you have a little helper it would not take as long  ;D.  My sone was at his moms visiting the month of July.

Here is the guy's websit:

http://www.thetacklesmith.com/boatalarms.htm

He was having a sale at the time.  Looks like the install is $100 more.  Tell him I sent you.  His name is Shawn.

I had parked my boat in the drive yesterday because my wifes alternator went you, so with her vehicle in the driveway, I could not back the boat in the garage.  so I parked it out front and disconnected it.  Turned the alarm on and I was going to run up to the auto parts store to get something and I thought you know I better take the graphs off.  starting taking of th first one and I have a vibration sensor, it is set to light right now, because that thing went off and I had the pager in my pocket and it vibrated and the pager alarm went off.  Works like it is supposed.

Good Luck

Many thanks Donnie.

I couldn't tell if it had a vibration sensor, I was hoping it had the vibration sensor.  I will need to install myself since I am in South La.  I will give Shawn a call.

The alarm going off must have scared the heck out of you.  I see you are in the Austin, Tx area.  Nice place, I was stationed at Bergstrom AFB in '70 and '71.

Do you run a Progator? Great boats. I'm fishing on Rayburn Thur-Sat out of a 20 footer that my buddy owns up on the lake. Fixing to get into a new one and am looking at that and one of the Phoenix models. Not sure what I'm going to buy, but going to fish out of 4-5 different brands before walking off that cliff again.

Welcome to the forum!

I'll be on Rayburn Thur-Sat. Putting in at Caney Creek. fishing mid lake area. Black Forrest, Veach, Coleman.

Fish the outside grass lines out close to the creek. Fish the bare clay main lake points. Back of Veach, fish the two points on the left in the back and the creek on the left in the back. Move out from both points and fish the ditches out in the 18-25' of water after the grass lines play out. If you have a Si unit you can find the brush tops.

Fish the deeper grass lines in Coleman and the edges of the road beds. Watch the timber and you can see several that run out of the woods into the lake.

What is the furthest north the generators will create current?  Situation:  Say the generators are turing on at 3pm and you are fishing the southernmost part of the lake, would you base your fishing trip around this time to be at your favorite piece of structure fishing the downcurrent side?

Most people are unaware of the fact there are the generators on the Sabine River & spillway gates on Toro Creek, so even when the generators & the spillway gates are considered closed there is still a constant flow of water. If both were truly closed the Sabine & Toro would dry up so a constant flow is necessary.

The Sabine River generates electricity & Toro controls the lake level under normal conditions, during high lake levels & heavy rains both can be opened to drop the lake level.

Right now both the generators & the spillway gates are considered closed but there is still a waterflow of 204 CFS (cubic feet per second).

1 cubic foot of water = 7.48 gallons

7.48 gallons x 204 = 1525.92 gallons per second

I wade fish Toro Creek 3-4 times a year & this current is enough to make standing still difficult.

Not to change the subject, just wanted to give a fishing report from this past weekend BFL. Bite was very tough for many including this angler on day two. Day one partner won the tournament, myself ended up 13Th. Fished north of the bridge the first day. Sorry can't give more details, these guys or making a living on the lake. I can say that jigs, worms, craw worms were the bait of choice. Day two partner took us south, way south in Catt's back yard, Sandy Creek grass beds. I can tell you an 8+ lb. was caught in sandy creek, but for the most part the fish were smaller than the stringers up north. Early bite was on spinner baits, then flipped outside edge grass beds along sloughs with a jig.

So, on days that the spillway gates and the generators are both considered to be "off", would this amount of current be enough to have an effect on the fish in the mid lake area or would  the wind would be more prevalent on positioning the fish on the structure?
