bigtimfish Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Anybody have any info about the Indian creek, Buck creek area? I want to try the far south end and don't really know where to go, or what the lake is like in that part. Is it even worth a try? Quote

Super User Catt Posted May 11, 2010 Author Super User Posted May 11, 2010 TBendBassin, I can not remember if it's between the 2nd & 3rd buoys or the 3rd &4 th coming in off the main lake. I fish from the buoys towards shore, aint caught no hawgs but plenty of solid fish. Quote
TBendBassin Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Catt if your looking into mill creek bay is it on the right or the left? on the left theres that underwater point thats cover with rocks (rock island)? Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 12, 2010 Author Super User Posted May 12, 2010 Coming off the main lake turn into Mill Creek, following the boat lane between the 2nd & 3rd or the 3rd &4th buoys, I turn north. It doesn't look like much on the map or even on my depth finder. It's one of those places I've found by accident, while fishing a night tournament 3-4 years ago we had to launch at Indian Creek Public Launch and the wind was blowing out of the north west. My plan was to run up to 6-Mile but it was one of those times when it doesn't look rough until you hit the main lake so I pulled into Mill to get out off the wind. My tournament partner was putting a few thing away that were bouncing around so I lit a cigarette and picked up my worm rod. First cast a nice 16" chunk, alright that'll work and then we proceeded to catch 8 more in about an hour, nothing over 3 pounds but solid chunks to start the night off. Every time I've been back it's the same, no hawgs but plenty numbers Quote

TxGator Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks for the tips on Mill Creek. I too am fishing out of the Indian Creek so Im thinking I can make it that far. Im fishing from a smaller boat (16), but I think i can make it. Tim, So far this year Ive been catching a few in Indian Creek itself, as well as Buck Creek. So there are definitely fish in that area. Just leave a few dumb ones for me to catch, I need all the help i can get ;D Later Gator Quote

jsn Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Catt, have you ever fished the main lake humps around Boone's crossover? Do you think it would be worth a try or do you think I would be better off sticking to Tennessee Bay? Our camp is in Negreet by shadows landing, so I was wondering if it would be worth me making that run. Thanks. Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 24, 2010 Author Super User Posted May 24, 2010 My little red Stratos has been sighted just south of the river @ Boone's Crossing; Tennessee Bay & Jessie Lowe's Bay is where this thread started. Do you fish the pipeline on the Louisiana side? Quote
jsn Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 I guess that answers my question! Yeah, my little white/green stratos has been seen around the pipelines on Tennessee Bay several times! Thanks Catt. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 24, 2010 Super User Posted May 24, 2010 I'll be on toledo Wednesday. Will give a report when I return. Fishing the midlake area(Carrice Creek). Short trip, up and back the same day, but got to check some deeper spots to see if they are moving out to them. Quote
bigtimfish Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Jack, if you decide to go in mid to shallow. If you have a Stanley double willow (gold blade) 3/8 spinnerbait in golden bream color, throw it. ALL if my T Bend spinnerbait fish this year have been on that color. My dad has caught on white/chartruese but I have out produced him by far with golden bream. Quote

bigtimfish Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Does the water on the south end, Mill creek,Buck creek area usually stay clear? I was told it's harder to fish because it is always so clear. I am used to six mile and sandy where one end is clear and the other dirty. Quote

I am used to six mile and sandy where one end is clear and the other dirty. the water on the south end usually is the clearest but that doesn't necessarily make it harder to fish. But this year the lake turned over in January and still has not completely cleared up.. the south end kinda has a light tan color to it kinda like the color of rayburn.. but as far as making it harder no i would fish the same way you fish six mile Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 26, 2010 Author Super User Posted May 26, 2010 The closer to the main lake the clearer most creeks are from Tennessee Bay south to the dam, some creek stay clearer more than others. Generally speaking Housen' Bayou is clearer than 6-Mile because it is deeper. Some creeks have more run off than others which effects clarity, as does soil type along the creek banks. The south end is some what easier to fish because if you aint targeting grass you aint catching Quote
TBendBassin Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 catt i would really like to bring this thread back to how it began with you teaching toledo so with that i think we should start all over with summer fishing because thats where i seem to struggle a little bit. dont get me wrong ive got the summer night fishing down because if we go out and dont get at least a 25lb sack then we had a bad night! but anyway ive always had a little trouble when the heat is up and its in the middle of summer.. last year in a tournament in july i remember struggling to get my limit and it wasnt even a good one. with that being said i know where the this very steep ledge is N 31.19904 W 93.62516 and was wondering if you know what ledge im talkin about and if you have fished it with any success Quote
