Super User Catt Posted April 12, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 12, 2010 Sorry about not posting here I'm tied up with 5 students on Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge. After not hearing anything for a few days the reports came pouring in last night with the most productive lures being a Stanley 3/8 ounce VibraShaft or WedgePlus in double willow blades in white/chartreuse. Second is the new Stanley Itza Bug on a light Texas rig in 2-10' of water. The most productive area has been Indian Mounds; three close friends boat 85 bass up to 6 lbs from Friday til yesterday morning. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 12, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 12, 2010 Here's the latest e-mail South Toledo Bend State Park where we had a cabin. My sons and friends [seven] caught about 100 bass +/- in two days. They had a couple over 5 pounds, 2-3 over 4 pounds, several over three pounds. About 50 - 60 keepers. I don't think they went any further north than Pirates Cove and caught most of the fish on the LA side. Most were caught using watermelon red, watermelon red candy, watermelon gold glitter brush hogs; watermelon red ultravibe speed craws; also caught a few on rattletraps [forgot the color they used] and the odd one or two with spinnerbaits. AlphaMaxinIt Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Thanks for the info... I threw a Brush hog this past weekend, but nothing.. Guess i was just throwing the wrong color maybe.. Cause as soon as i put a Watermelon red trickworm on, I was getting bit.. Looking forward to more Quote

Question, could we get them to move a couple of the special ones out into the woods maybe? Quote
Bryan J Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 My dad and I fished this weekend. Friday fished from about 5 pm till dark. Caught 12 bass with 4 keepers. We fished Yocum and Negreet. Most on light texas rigged lizards and weightless flukes. Saturday fished from 8 am till 7 pm. Caught 30 bass, 10 white perch, and about 10 white bass. We kept 5 white perch, a few white bass, and 9 bass. White perch and white bass were on beetle spins in back of Housen. Bass were caught on flukes, lizards, senkos, wacky worms, and 1 on a swim bait. Bass were scatered as we fished negreet, yocum, housen, and pirates cove area. Sunday fished from 830 am to 11 am. Caught 10 bass with 7 keepers. We fished lizards, flukes, and wacky worms in the Indian Mound area. In summary, we caught 52 bass, 10 white perch, and 10 white bass. 72 fish in a weekend is not bad in my book. We couldn't find any big fish in the 2'-10' range that we targeted. The biggest fish went 3.5 lbs. Our most productive lure was a watermelon fluke. Good luck!! Hope this helps! Quote

texasoldtimer Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 When fishing t bend post spawn deeper grass lines with spinnerbaits and wacky rigs I have a couple questions. 1. Are you fishing heavier spinnerbaits for deeper water? 2. Are you adding weight to the wacky rig? 3. Are you casting the wacky rig and working it most of the way back to the boat or pitching it and mostly just looking for strikes on the fall? Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 22, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 22, 2010 Most of my spinner bait fishing is done with a 1/2 oz with 3/8 oz thrown in on occasion. I work all lures all the way back to the boat; I could not tell how many bass were caught at the boat or directly under it. Quote
jsn Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Does anyone know where I can get a HD topo map of Toledo? Thanks Quote

Mid morning to mid day just about any thing is working with Weightless Texas Rigged Plastics kicking some serious butt (Flukes, Senkos, Stanley's new Sidewinder). Deep ridges: Weighted Texas Rigs, Carolina Rigs, & DD14/22's April winds have arrived so remember some buoys maybe off Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted April 28, 2010 Super User Posted April 28, 2010 Everyone enjoy the Bend this weekend. I'm going to Alabama Friday morning to visit family and do a little fishing on Lay Lake. Be back late Monday night. Quote
Ranger 251 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Have a safe trip Jack. Let us know how you faired on Lay Lake. Paul Quote
fishingcajun Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Catt, Jack Any of you guys up for a day or two trip to TB. I work 7&7 and have been making trips every other week since March. Now that the fish or in the post spawn, i really could use some coaching on fishing offshore. I have tried it, but still have not caught any fish. My electronics won't help much, or won't help me much. My last trip - Fished Palo Goucho main lake grass bed. Caught a few keepers on one particular grass point. Bass were feeding on shad. Best bait was watermelon ( anything ) baby brush hog, and on the windy days letting a swimming senko drift with the waves across the same point. Also fished the coves between Indian Mounds and Houson this past Monday, caught 20+ short fish, and had another 100+ bites. My two keepers were caught on the main islands in the mouth of pirates cove. Everything was caught on a Texas rigged fluke, no weight, WR, Mardi Gras, but i don't think the color made that much of a difference. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted April 30, 2010 Super User Posted April 30, 2010 I'm going up a couple of days next week when I get back from alabama. Will contact you tuesday when I get back. going to spend a couple of days on Rayburn and Toledo so just let me know. Quote
fishingcajun Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 That sounds good, I get in from offshore Wednesday. Thursday and Friday would work. Its mothers day weekend, so my wife already has tabs for the weekend. I have been staying on the Texas side Super 8 motel by the carrice creek launch. If you can send me an email, I will return the message so you will have it. That's the best way to reach me when i am at work, on days off cell phone will work. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Just got back from the Bend. Here's how it went. Last Thursday-Sunday we caught over 800 bass between six guys, but couldn't find any size whatsoever. We were in the Best Six tourny and only managed 40lbs. We caught hundreds of small fish in 6ft. of water over submerged hydrilla on traps and senkos. Overall, a fun trip, just no big fish. Went back this Thursday-Saturday with the family. Caught a good mess of bream and found a school of Kentuckys out on a main lake hump at the mouth of Negreet. Saturday was the only day we really bass fished hard and we went to the Indian Mounds and cuaght 11, with our top five weighing 25lbs. Haha...thats the way it always goes for me. No fish in tourny, but big fish afterward or prefishing. We also missed one HUGE fish that we never saw on a crankbait. All fish were caught on points with scattered hydrilla in water that dropped from 3-20 foot of water on Bandit 200 series cranks. texasoldtimer Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Anyone fishing the Sealy's tourney coming up? Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 9, 2010 Super User Posted May 9, 2010 Yes, if my back gets better. Having an MRI this week. Hopefully then we can do the injections. It flared up on me while I was in Alabama last week. Sucks! Quote
