Who Dat? Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Is this accurate for the next few days? Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted February 25, 2010 Super User Posted February 25, 2010 In my opinion yes. We caught fish in the backs of pockets last weekend on Rayburn that were in 3-5 ft. Water temps ranged from 48-54 degrees. If you are back there and not getting bit just back out a little and I bet you find them. they won't move far if at all. Jack Quote
bayouXpress Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Cat and other guys who frequent the lake.. What spinnerbait blade combo do you rather and color. I almost exclusively fish with tandem with gold willow and silver colorado whether its overcast or sunny. I've read alot about having double willow for the bend with gold for cloudy days and silver for bluebird. whats your preferences and reasons why you chose them. Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 26, 2010 Author Super User Posted February 26, 2010 My #1 choice in spinner baits is a Stanley Wedge Why because with spinner baits I agree completely with Lonnie Stanley "it's all about the blade" and tapered from tip to end these blades cause maximum vibration and water displacement. My second choice in spinner baits is a Rattle Head Why because this bait's ability to come cleanly through Hydrilla, Coontail Moss, Milfoil, and Skunk Weed was unbelievable; usually with a quick flick of the wrist cleared all grass. Skirt Color: White or White/Chartreuse Blade color & configuration: I generally start with double willow in gold Quote
bayouXpress Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 i searched high and low for the 1/2 oz stanley wedge double gold willow in chart/white for the last couple weeks. I can't seem to find that combination. Are you able to buy that configuration from a store or do you have to customize either the skirt or blade. I fish nearly exclusively with a spinnerbait made by T and T lures called the humdinger. Anyone from South La will be able to tell you about it. It goes through just about any grass and the skirt "breathes" more than any others I have tried. The problem is they only go up to 1/4oz sizes.. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted February 26, 2010 Super User Posted February 26, 2010 I buy the blades and put together what I like. Just can't seem to find any that suit me. I buy my blades from Barlows. Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 26, 2010 Author Super User Posted February 26, 2010 I buy a spinner bait with the blade combo I want & change the skirt so now with that infomation in hand you can go to Tackle Warehouse where they show 9+ in stock. Where in South Louisiana do you live? Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 26, 2010 Author Super User Posted February 26, 2010 Who Dat? Now that's a screen name! I looked at NOAA and the show 53-60 for day time temperatures, 38-34 for night time temperatures and partly cloudy-60% chance of rain. Ladies that's stable weather we are waiting on Quote

Wesley Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 The fish are shallow, they arent eating that well but they are up there. I talked to several people tonight that fished south and north and caught good fish in 4-5 foot of water. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted February 27, 2010 Super User Posted February 27, 2010 Good luck Wesley on Saturday in the oilmans tournament. 700 boats registrared. Wesley Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Well friday we had an ok day, we found fish close to the pepper grass and some holding just off cypress tree's. We scratched out a limit fo 10.8 lbs. Which had us in 148th place. Saturday things went south for us. The water temps were down to 45-46 in the morning. But we picked up 2 pretty quick on a shallow diving crankbait. Then nothing for the rest of the day. We found some 51-52 degree water and combed it to no avail... Maybe next time. 1 Quote

Ranger 251 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Good job to you guys who caught some fish for the Oilmens. I bombed big time. My partner and I threw white spinner baits and rattle traps not to mention carolina rig, soft plastics, crankbaits and did not even draw a bite. We pre-fished Wednesday afternoon (Carrice Creek)and Thursday (Solans and Texas Flats/Corsey Creek) and had nothing both days. I new of a few spots in United Bay and tried those on Friday--had a big -0-. Saturday we spend the day in San Miguel, fished the entrance of San Miguel and a couple of coves there. Again another big -0-. As said earlier, maybe next year. :-? Quote
bullet20 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 i had a few buddy's that bombed too, some did good,I guest if u lucky to find them should stick with them.we went in circles for 2 days 20 yard area 2-3 feet water w/scattered grass.Looked like the worst the weather the better the bite was.Heard the same for other's too.go figure :-/ Quote
bcody Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Another report from my buddy who was on the water today... He was in negreet somewhere and caught 4 fish all on traps in 4-5 feet. Said it was extremely slow, for him at least. Does anyone have the results of the LOBI? Quote
Skeet22 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Fished the oilmans this weekend also. Caught 11.8 pounds the first day. 13 fish on,boated seven and 6 shook off after 3 or 4 seconds and a couple of them felt like very nice fish. Sat we weighed in 10.9 and had 18 fish on, lost 10 fish. Ive never had so many fish get off like this dont know what was going on. We finished up in 92nd out of over 600 teams, if we could have landed a couple kicker fish that got off we would have been in serious contention. Very frustrating but we had a blast. Out of two days we seen 4 other boats were we were fishing. We launched out of Jolly Roger and fished the cow bayou area. Every fish was caught(and missed on a white/chartreuse chatterbait with one being caught on a watermelon game hawg. Biggest fish boated was 3.75. This was my first time fishing Toledo Bend and it was an awesome experience. You guys that get to fish that place regular are very lucky! I was pretty excited to finish where we did with the conditions we were fishing in. My partner boated most of the fish because I was too stuborn to stay with the chatterbait! I will always have one handy from now on. Quote
