What are you guy's thoughts on fishing this coming weekend?  Do you think it is worth dragging the boat 3.5 hours?  Thanks.

There is a big cold front hitting here friday. Lots of rain and temps dropping into the low 30's at night. Day time high of mid 50's.

Is what my weather app is showing me.

Edit.

Just updated cold front hitting Thursday. Showing freezing temps for Thursday night into Friday morning.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see some sleet and snow flurries with it, when it comes In that night.

The wind is your friend on the big pond.

Where the wind blows the shad goes lol.

The shad were in the back last weekend. Water temp in the upper 60's. Caught some decent fish on Sunday. It was the only decent day. Most of the day's I was there last week the weather sucked. The lake looked pretty cool so low. Saw some great things for when the water comes up. Can't wait to get back there.

I caught 38 today in 20-28’ on dropshots and Crankbaits.  Size is still hard to come by though for me.

Nice...I hit a big school of 3# in about 10 fow back in a cove. Ran a crankbait thru brush piles. I flipped a 5# off a dock in about 1fow. That was the biggest I caught. Seemed like they wanted reaction baits on Sunday. Not your typical bright sunny day after a cold front technic.

It's the big pond. Ain't nothing typical on this lake. I can't count how many times I have meet guys fishing in late January and early February saying the fish they catching want slow fished plastics.

And I'm over there banging them out with a ribbet frog and a swimbait lol.

Well, I went just to run the boat in 6 mile and it still doesn’t run right on plane. Idles like a champ so figured I’d fish a little. Caught 10 in a lil while on a 6XD following creek channels thru some flats. Full of shad is why, I guess.

Y’all better get your catching done tomorrow!!!!! DougW will be on the lake Wed.-Sun. At which time all game fish species all join in their fasting ritual and will NOT eat anything until next Monday - or Sunday evening. Whichever comes first.

Well, y’all shouldn’t have been there yesterday.  It was tough.  We caught 12 yesterday fishing until 12:30.  The fish are on the move.  Early morning there were fish and Shad in the lake, but by 11 they all vanished.  Went into the creeks and found them about half way back.

Ok.. so my tournament(s) are the weekend of the 16-17th.  Should’a known - weather wasn’t going to be crappy enough. But that didn’t stop me from driving over in the weee hours of Wed. morning. Saw some shad getting nibbled on early but couldn’t get bit that way. Soooo... picked up the 8’ Dobyns with a 10XD. Cruised over a main lake point, saw fish n’ started chunking. A few cast later a 5+#er jumped in the boat to give me back my 10XD. At this point I still thought my tournament was this weekend so I made a few more cast without a bite and left. Went to some main lake humps in the same depth range. The 10XD fish came out of 18 fow. Was throwing a blue back/white sides. Didn’t have many of them and now have one less. Soooo... tied on a barfish pattern 10XD. Caught a small spot on it. That one hit as I was cranking up to make the next cast. And I do mean small 10 - 11”s. Around noon I went to check out deep creeks. That did nothing for me. Earlier out on the main lake I managed to fool another small spot on a c-rig. 1:00pm I put it back on the trailer and took my dumb ass back home. Reckon I’ll be back next Wednesday....
