BayBoatFisherman Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 By my definition it would be the one in red, the way I look at it. It would be inside the cove. 1 Quote

I have always been of the mindset a point inside a cove is the secondary point.  Meaning the second land point they reach before they hit the back of the cove.  I would consider that lil red point just left of the red circle a secondary point as well.  Put I may be mistaken in my understanding of it. 3 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted January 16, 2019 Super User Posted January 16, 2019 Both are secondary points in my book...actually, you could consider the red one a tertiary point. 2 Quote
Amateur Hour Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 Thank y'all. For the record I have never fished and probably never will fish that area.  1 Quote

Bass_Fanatic Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Fished Toledo today launched at Cypress Bend at daylight.  Searched around mid lake until noon with zero to show for it, no bites, no fish on graph, nothing. Finally ran down south and found a school of fish on a creek channel swing. Inside swing was 18’ with a 25’ Creek running around it.  Caught 17 real quick.  Top 5 16-17lbs all on a 6xd and Arig.  Found another group on a road bed in 20’. Caught a few on dropshot and Arig.  It was tough today. Not much fish to see on electronics. Hopefully that changes soon. 3 Quote

Most generally the structure they use to move up on will be the structure they use to move back out.  The biggest mistake I see guys make is they try to fish the entire lake before they understand areas. 6-Mile doesn't fish like Palo Gaucho, yes they use the same types of structure the breaks/breaklines are different.  That's just a dumb Coonass's viewpoint! Spent some time thinking about this one - again. There is another perspective to consider, one that worked for me. Locate an area that fishes like you do. I spent one full year in Caney Creek. I scanned hours on end, I fished deep I fished shallow and I fished every thing in between. If there is anything you want to know about Caney ask me. Well every thing but how to put a winning stringer together that is. I told a friend that from a map perspective, considering structure, there is absolutely no reason an angler would ever have to leave Caney Creek to win a tournament. I spent a year proving myself wrong. I finished well down in the yearly standings.  Year 2 - I left Caney on a regular basis. That’s not to say abandoned it completely. Several times last year I’d be short 1-2 fish for a limit. I could come back to Caney at some point during the day and using the information I gathered the year before- finish out my limit. We have a big fish for the year prize. Last year it was almost $600.00 I won it - that fish came out of Caney. 8.69#s If you’re wondering. I also finished second in points. Had the fish on to win the two day championship tournament and the AOY competition but that fish wasn’t near Caney. When your using an 8’ heavy rod and 50# braid and have a fish on you can’t turn - it’s simply not your time.  Sooooo... Learning a section of the lake is not a bad idea and I’m glad I spent the year learning Caney - I know it well!  What I did different between year 1 and year 2 ? I looked for and fished structure that I have confidence in fishing with a technique(s)I have the upmost confidence in. I fished from the dam to palo gaucho Tx and La. I covered a lot of water, moved more than probably should have but- it worked for me. But I also know me well and the value of having confidence in where I’m fishing and what I’m fishing with. 2 Quote

My guess would be a narrow creek channel coming out of a small cove, making a hard swing as it exits the cove. Your depths are pretty close. 1 Quote
