Ok, where to start.  I spent Friday in my boat with Josh (Bassfanatic) learning my new units and how to look for bass deep. We had a great time until the weather cut us short.  I will say to anyone that struggles with fishing deep and wants to get better that Josh is really good place to start.  I had a great time and feel it was well worth it.  The first two pics were from Friday with Josh.  The other pics were me poking around up north around blue lake.  There is also a short video of a copperhead swimming way offshore in 22ft. of water.  Nevermind, the video won't upload.

If I had today electronics back in the 70s it wouldn't have taken me 45 yrs to learn the lake.

I had a reallly good time Friday with Amateur Hour.  We graphed around most of the morning.  Found quite a few fish hanging on some ledges and points.  We didn’t fish until mid morning.  Fished maybe 30 min and caught 4.  At 11:30 a storm blew in and it POURED!! Waited under the pavilion at cypress bend for an hour and it never really let up so we called it a day.  Chris is a great guy and a lot of fun!  It’s always good to share a boat with someone that quickly becomes a friend.  I think Chris left with a better idea of what to look for and how to identify fish.  Looking forward to the next time we go!

Well i finally got to go fish this past Saturday. Catt i fished the area from Between the point of Hickman's Camp & Mill Creek RV Park for about 3 1/2 hrs that morning till it started to thunder a bit. i caught 3 1/2 fish ( I'm shocked at how a 9" bass will EAT a 10" worm) best was 3.24 and 2  fish too small to weigh oh and the hungry LIL' guy.

not much structure but grass shallow 6 to 8'. saw a few small bait balls with fish around them,

going back this weekend to practice some more!! Practice makes perfect that what they say anyway.

That hump is in the main boat lane where it runs east to west south of Tn. Bay and before it turns back to the north. According to the navionics chart it is 10’ deep at pool. At 168 that would make it 6’ and with a transducer sitting about a foot below the surface you would read 5’. If you’re traveling 60-70 mph in a boat seeing the reading coming up that fast and high can be a bit stressful. At 166 or less I would careful and if the navionics chart is accurate stay near the south buoys as it slopes down from the hump by the north buoys.

Ok, @Catt, I am fishing a 16ft hump throwing to 28 fow.  The school fish come up well within casting distance. What do I throw at them? The C-rig I am fishing, rattle trap, spoon, spinner bait, crank bait, or something else? I have never really fished the schoolies, but it the chance comes up again I would like to be ready.

For schoolers I always have a lucky craft slender pointer tied on.  It will catch them every time. But I rather throw underneath them to look for a bigger bite.

White headed underspin with a white zoom fat Albert (curly tailed grub), A-rig, Little George, slab spoon, flutter spoon to sink under the schoolers. Lots of options if you’re close enough to cast to them.

Hurricane, I start at the mouth on the west side, stay on that side till a little over half way & switch to the east side. 

 

944 start around the high lines & follow the creek!

Not the one in the boat lane which is actually the southeast end of a big ridge running northwest to southeast. However just south of the boat lane is better looking hump with steep slope toward a channel. Once I was prefishing for a club tourn. and caught a 3# on a dropshot there. Decided to leave it alone. As per my luck next day for the tourn. winds nearly 20 mph from the south discouraged me from trying that spot. Have tried it since without success. The BASS elite tournament in June 2012 was won by Brent Chapman near the point on the south side of Negreet. Cliff Pace was second in that tournament and was fishing that same hump mentioned above dragging c-rigs. Having fished there before I recognized where he was with the buoys behind him and cypress bend in the background.

update from this weekend. the 3.24 from last report had a tag for the bass cash bash and im ordering a trolling motor.?

this past friday i fished  early on the  same point in mill creek that i got the tag, but only 4 short fish.

saturday early i tried it again just at sun up and again 3 short fish. by 8 ish headed over the crossover to the cove that the cross over goes almost into. i went into the arm to the right and worked the grass and trees and caught 4 fish in there. 3 were small 1 to 2 pounds but i was able to land a 4.72 pounder on a hula popper. that was something seeing that get ate! man i forgot how good a fish that size can fight.

when i can figure out how to resize the pic i will post it.  just would like to say thanks to Catt and all the rest for the info.

I enjoy throwing crank baits when I’m on the bend but I normally always stay shallow. Any color advice for throwing 20ft and deeper? I normally throw strike king XD models.
