Had orthroscpoic surgery on my knee in 88. No complaints there. Also, I should have been more specific. No fusion back surgery. Hope you feel better. Grind it out like me but it's definitely discouraging. I should change my name to Joe The Grinder ?

Haha gotta laugh... ?

Hope ya'll have a great weekend.

They caught an 11 something and 10 something today. Pretty cool.

Yea after landing that 9.12 last time I was at home, my batterys have been recharged and I'm ready to find them summer time deep water big girls.

Just hope I can find someone to come with me, banged up knee, I don't feel safe in the boat alone right now.

But the itch is building might just have to man up.

Just looked at the fish totals and total weight for the Sealy Splash over the last few years. There is a noticeable crash in total fish and weights. Gotta think the killing of all the vegetation by the Authority is starting to take its toll. Hope I’m wrong but the evidence is sure compelling.

You can go to the Sealy Outdoors website and view past results. I did a quick look at it a few minutes ago. In 2014 there were 137 fish over 6 pounds weighed in for the 3 day tourney and this year 81.

Caught this 9.87lber Thursday afternoon checking a spot for Friday. Made 7 cast and caught 3 fish including the big one Thursday. Friday morning we caught around 35 fish, all in 15-25'.  That evening my dad hopped in the boat and caught 48.  He fished again Saturday and had 3 fish at 4:30, then ended up with 53 at 6:30. The evening bite has been unbelievable.

Looks like someone adjusted....?

Do I believe the lake in a decline?

Absolutely!

Is it the doom & gloom ya reading on Facebook?

Absolutely not!

According to some the dam needs to be blown & the lake drained!

@RonnieF your's?

Y'all using glass beads with tungsten?

It's said tungsten will break the glass cut your line.

No, I use plastic faceted beads. Bought around 300 off amazon for cheap. Easier than going to hobby lobby.

I also use the pro ticker to protect the knot on the swivel. The beades that come with them are glass. I’ve tried using them, but the 1 oz tungsten shatters them.

My report for my last trip wasn’t good for me.

Tried just south of blue lake, not realizing how shallow it was going to be, but I was committed. 2 fish and 1 missed. Topwaters.

One afternoon my reliable deep water spot produced 8 but nothing big. That was the last time it produced for me.

Hit clear creek one morning. Caught 3 at the mouth on yellow magic the 3 more later on a point just south of there on mid-depth crankbaits.

A little off topic, but going to post anyway! ? The wife and I are headed up Saturday to start trying to find us a place on the lake. We are looking on the Texas side somewhere between the very south end and up to Palo Gacho. It will be on the water, would like to find one with a dock so I can get to fishing and not have to do any construction. Going to look for something that will still have water to float the boat when the lake is at 168. Anything that you would be concerned about (other than camp structure/quality) that I may not have considered?

Inspect the water frontage really hard.  If it’s in an area that has a lot of waves hitting your bank, it could cause erosion and could be a costly fix.

Make sure it comes with lease back

I'd try to find a neighborhood with a lot of permanent residents and few to no rentals.  I've been looking for 5+ years for the right one.  Got tired of looking at a lot of junk in bad places. Most of the places we looked at the wife wouldn't go in.  I bought a new travel trailer a few years back til one pops up. I'd settle for a waterfront lot I could put it on but that's harder to find than a decent camp at a reasonable price.  I still do most of my fishing down south so don't want to spend a fortune for a camp I use once a month or so. And, I am not retired so I don't want to spend all my time cutting grass and keeping up maintenance on a place. There are a lot of places that could be great with some time and effort.  If I found a lot on the water I'd probably move the travel trailer there and build a similar cover over it like I have now.  After I retire I could then build a camp and turn the cover into a nice enclosed boat and storage area.  I'll be around the south end this weekend. If you see a BassCat with red power poles flag me down.

Thanks @jcdogfish, had not thought about the rentals.

That would be a very bad thing to forget, thanks for the reminder.

One of the ones we are looking at does have big water, it has been there since '88 so will be a good thing to take a long look at. Thanks
