Looking for some help from Catt. I am new to this site and have read your comments on places to fish at toledo bend. Do you have any knowledge around mid lake. laban bay area. I am struggling to find fish in the deep water. Any spots would be helpful. I have the maps you give instructions with and would really like your help.

How Y'all Are? ?

Not familiar with that name but I might know it by another name.

Texas  or Louisiana side?

Near what creek?

Hey guys, I have a question and need some educating.  When you say fish deep points in 20-25 ft. of water are you talking about the actual point like the blue in this pic or the white flat around the point?  I have not been able to find an actual point that is that deep but the water around the point will be.  I hope this makes sense.  Thanks.

@Paw paw charlie how good are you at reading your electronics & how good do you understand structure?

@Amateur Hour top picture is a hump & bottom is a point.

I'm not sure but here is a point and or hump that's 24' deep in the mouth of Housen.

A point can extend off the shoreline or be completely underwater!

I meant I wasn't sure how to answer his question. I'm still struggling in the depths. Any advice on the spots we showed?

I  have a navionics chip in my hook 7. I can see the creeks and ridges but still struggle with identifying fish. I have never seen the big schools on my hook like posted on some sites. Any comments you have or suggestions would surly help.

I never have either, but it is probably because I have never been around any fish.

I tried to hire Jason Courville to come up and show me how to use my units but never heard back from him.

Zack is a good friend of mine. He I said good. I also do some electronic training on the water. But what I look for is a point extending out to the desired depth that the fish are holding. Most of the time, they will be set up on the steeper side of the point where they can have quick access to deep water. I'm not fishing the flat around the point, I'm fishing on the tip of the point and the drop off into deep water. My boat may be sitting in 30' and I'm casting into 15' dragging down the drop off.

Interesting.  What units do you run?

I fish Toledo no depth finder usually. I usually stay in Indian Creek. Which means I need to get up there and check it out soon. Getting that time of year. Had to run to many for work but unfortunately my boss said me going to take a look at Toledo is a waste of company resources cause I was in the work truck. Pshhhhhhh

King, bosses are wayyyy overrated ?

I am but have no employees to complain just in case lol

Unfortunately I'm not the boss. Otherwise I would've wasted company resources via towing a boat as well hahahaha

When you launch the boat idle around at different depths looking at what depth or depths the majority of the activity is”bait”. Then when you get to a point, hump , or ridge you want to check out go to that depth first and check it out. They maybe there or they may not. They may be actively feed or dorimate. What I’ve noticed if they are suspending off the botttom get ready. Also something I’ve learned is if I find fish suspended off of structure a lot of times if you go to the structure and scan that depth there will be fish actively feed. So basically you can sit on that spot and catch fish in waves going from what I call resting to feeding as they move on and off the structure.

Also, timing is major fishing offshore.

I recently (1/27/18) stumbled across this forum and must say it is awesome. Most information I have ever come across for Toledo Bend. I'm only on page 5 of the thread so it will take me some time to catch up with all of your advice and suggestions. Thanks to all of you for sharing your knowledge of the lake. I only get to fish there once or twice a year so I try to make the best of it when I am able to go. Thanks again to all of you who share information with others.
