Well here is my report from last night's fat girl raid, started at 10 and ended at 4 this morning, fishing alone, started at the old closed down gas station off of 191 where it cross's San Miguel working my way back to my house.

Baits used were ribbet frogs and pop r top water baits, crankbaits and rat la trap's, jigs and big worms and lizards T rigged and C rigged.

I did not have one bite all nite long not one not on any bait in any of the spots that I tryed that have always produced bass for me.

Don't know what the issue was but I got skunked, guess it had to happen sometime, first time I haveever been skunked.

Will be back on the water tonight starting at the island's near the state park working my way back to my house.

Dang!  I figured you nocturnal dudes were whacking em cause it's been tough in the daytime too. Went to Sandy Tuesday afternoon after the rain and caught 7. Went to Rayburn Wednesday and caught 8. Went to Housen this afternoon and ground out 10 or 12. Very slow all three days. Only a few nice ones. Nothing big.

The strange thing is I hit those same spots the following day mid day matter of fact and caught bass nothing of legel keeping size but I caught them there.

Just wasn't holding my mouth open right I guess lol.

Had a lil problem while out yesterday cranking battery went down on me and had to use the trolling motor to get back home, that was the longest two mile boat ride I ever took lol.

So didn't go last night to try again will be back out this evening hope and pray I got the problem fixed with the battery lol.

Might be able to get up there this weekend. It's been a while. I gotta dig up the old monsters, 6xds , and football jigs if I can find them.

Good luck. I'll be there Tuesday afternoon. There were some nice fish shallow last week if the deep bite doesn't work for you.

I have a question that I don't think has ever been discussed on here. Are there mussel shell beds in Toledo?

There are some "mussel" type up in the river North of the lake. Never seen nor heard of any beds.

Ok thanks. Thought it might be possible and something worth looking for.

I have run across a couple of hard spots off Mcgees.  Don't know what they are.  Driveways? concrete slabs?  Maybe someone here knows.

I love it there. Plenty of roads and house slabs. Wish it had more grass. It looked like it was coming back last time I went.

Another question... what is y'all's expert opinion on fishing with rattles on plastics and jigs at Toledo?

All I can tell you about them is they are hard and flat with very few fish around them.

Its not an expert opinion by a long shot but I don't fish rattles in anything.  I know some who swear by them.  I just keep it simple as I can

The only rattles I throw are Rattle-L-Traps ;)

Thanks. I haven't used any yet but was thinking about trying it. Especially when punching and for muddy water.

When I do throw a jig with rattles it's Lunker Lures Rattleback!

Can't afford any new baits. Planned on adding rattles to the baits I already own lol I'll keep it in mind for later though. Thanks.

I think I already have some of those I forgot about. Just gotta add some skirts to em.

If anyone has a little imput on colors I just got rid of a bunch of old crank baits and will be going splurge on all new XD crank baits. Any help on some hot colors for Toledo this time of year? I'll be headed to the lake in a few days to change it up from the marsh bash fishing.

I'm not anywhere close to a good crank bait fisherman but seem to have the best luck on parrot, blue and chartreuse, chrome sexy shad, black and chrome, that ugly yellow one, splatterback, sexy shad, and blue back herring.

Ugly yellow one is chartreuse perch. Had to look it up.
