Snot grass is filamentis algae. Never caught any fish in or around it anywhere I have fished my entire life. Did catch some frogs floating in it one warm February night.

Went on a guys trip... arrived at 8am on 4-30-17 right behind the front. 8 guys, 4 boats. Only caught 4 fish on the first day. 2 dinks and 2 in the keeper range. One of which was caught off a bed in Buck creek. Day two (5-1-17) was tough again. Blue bird skies and high barometric pressure. Only managed 3 more keepers. Day three (5-2-17) things changed. Fished from sun up till 2pm and caught 8 or 9 total with 6 of them being keepers. Biggest was 3.5 lbs (released). Took lunch for two hours and went back at em from 4pm till dark. With the pressure dropping throughout the afternoon, we hammered em! We probably caught 15-20 fish in 4 hours. Nothing huge but 5 were over the three pound mark, biggest was 5.49lbs. The rest were 14-16 inches in length. Main lake points in less than 10ft of water with deep water close by; tx rigged worm in the hay grass or as close to it as you could get. Mills creek and Buck creek areas. All fish over three pounds were released.

While at The Bend, i was also trying my hand at some deep water action. I'm having a lot of trouble identifying fish on my graphs where there is a lot of timber or other types of cover on the bottom. But I did find this submerged bridge that appeared to be holding a good number of fish. I couldn't get them to bite to save my life... Whats the likelihood that these were bass, and how would you fish it? Also, how do you identify fish when there is a lot of cover on the bottom? laydowns/grass beds/standing timber etc...

I'm pretty sure I know that bridge.  Those are bass, and they have been there for months now.  Dropshot and an under spin will typically get bit there, but today was tough.  It only took 11lbs to get a check in the BFL.

Hey guys, been a while, my oldest has moved off to College and fishing there, but I now have been able to get my youngest (who is 17) involved and he is starting to get the itch. Anyway, been keeping up just not doing much posting.

Bass, you finding a good number of bass moving out? Was there this past week (Fri & Sat), saw what I thought were good quality bass anywhere from 14-25', just could not get much reaction out of them. The few bites I had seemed to be short strikes. This was more Sat than Fri as the wind did not allow for much offshore Fri. What depth are you finding them setting up now and are you cranking, dragging, drop shoting or all of the above? Just pulling my hair out trying to figure out what that is down there and if I could just get one of them to commit I would feel better about my skills.

I was there Friday and Saturday too prefish is hung for Basschamps next weekend.  I didn't do much fishing, I mainly idled and looked for fish.  They did bite a lot better Friday though.  It was hard to fish with the wind, but they bite a lot better in wind than when it gets slick like it was Saturday.  18-22ft seems to be my sweet spot out there.  I throw cranks and big worms and jigs to look for a big bite, but a dropshot and a Ned rig will catch them.  I caught about 30 Friday and 20 Saturday. Mostly on a dropshot and spoon.

Man all these reports have got me itching to get back on the bend. Haven't been able to get down there the last couple of weeks . Plan on making a trip down to the camp to mow and spend a couple of days chasing some of the deeper fish  !!

Boy the sun just can't go down fast enough, I'm burning holes in the carpet ready to go night fishing tonight.

It's as tough as I've ever seen it right now.  Out of 244 teams yesterday, it only took 14lbs to get a check.  Only 4 bags over 20lbs. We had 12lbs or so, didn't weigh as we knew it wasn't enough.  Never got a big bite all day.  The worst part is I'm pretty sure I found the winning school, but I couldn't make them fire up.  Missed one on a jig first cast and caught a 2.5lber out of them then that was it. And by what I saw on my graph, I'd be willing to bet there was 30lbs swimming around down there.

Went out this today from noon till five and caught seven on the ribbet bigest was a skinny 2 1/2 pounder the rest were just over 14 inches.

Caught four more on the swim bait only one of those was 14 inch's the rest were under.

Moved to deeper water put on the watermelon red yum dinger and found six more bites all of these were 14 to 15 inches.

Maybe not big fish but it was still fun even if my knees got sun burnt.

Yea we would have been in the top 100, but wouldn't have got a check lol. It's rough out there right now. Last year every school of fish bit, this year your lucky to catch 1 or 2 out of a school.
