Little Fish, thanks for the reply. If by 1215 you mean the area just north of the Pendleton bridge then that would be a bit far for my 60HP Evinrude to push me. Where do you launch? I have heard Huxley mentioned several times, anything North of there? Maybe even the Sabine River.

Blue hole or Grace's landing. I've seen it called both. It's probably dry right now but remember it for February.

Gonna try and make my first trip since summer. From what it sounds like, the fish are still in their fall patterns at the back of creeks? Am I correct or have they already moved to deep structure? Also if they are still in the backs of coves do you expect that to change with the rain and cold weather coming this week? Thanks.

Think I will launch from Circle Drive, head south down the Sabine River channel and look for good fishing holes. Particularly when the channel gets close to the shore, or something like that. Very first post the OP, Catt, said to get a Hook-N-Line map, Still true?

Yep get the map, you wont be disappointed. Lots of really good fishing up that way and alot less pressure than down south. Good luck!

I haven't been for a couple of weekends cause of work and ducks but from what I'm hearing and the upcoming front, I'd go with deep. I'll find out this weekend and let you know. Good luck.

Launched about 1:30pm from Circle Drive and wet the hooks till 4:45pm today, Sat Dec10, 2016. No fish, no bites. It was the first time in a couple of decades on The Bend. Looking for next Sat to be here already, gonna do it all over again.

I'm here but worked on boat and tackle all day cause I hurt bad, it was cold, blue and EAST!  I'll be fishin all day tomorrow and will report after.

Zero bites so far today. One power pole ain't working so I think I'll work on that the rest of the day!

The water was 49 to 55 in case anybody was wondering. I wasn't expecting it to drop that much.

Saturday afternoon we were following the river channel, basically the boat row. My fish finder, a cheap garmin that came with the boat, would go crazy every once in awhile show schools of fish. We tried fishing those locations several times with crank baits, carolina rigs, jigs and texas rigs in different colors. Nothing, no bites, no bumps, no nothing. :annoyed1:

A question, what kind of fish do you think they were?

Also, every once in awhile there a fish would bust the water in, probably, 2 - 4 of water right off the channel. Should I have tried a buzz bait or other top water lure? Think it was a bass or gar?

Any info and advice will be appreciated.

That's some tough questions right there!

First don't worry about a "cheap" depth finder, I still don't have down or side imaging!

Use what you have to the best it's abilities but more importantly the best of your abilities.

Short of being in the boat with you it's hard say what those fish were.

Ya got 2-4' of water off a creek ya better be fishing it or prepare to get Gibbs slapped!!!

Gibbs slapped! That just means he loves ya!

Once we found where Turkey Creek came into the channel we did fish it, were in the area about an hour or so.

Got my Hook-N-Line map this morning. Yipee! Now waiting for Saturday to roll around.

@samwise2u Turkey Creek?

Ya way up north!

I generally fish the Clement Clark area when that far north.

It's a whole different world up there!

Creeks channels are key but another 5-6 weeks y'all can be in pre-spawn!

49 degrees.........dang, didn't think it would drop that low that fast.  I need to keep an eye open for those warmup weekends already. Thanks for the report.
