Will be his first real trip there since he was old enough to remember a whole lot. We'll be staying at Fin and Feather, so if you see a red TZX190 with power poles and a couple guys in their 20's give us a shout! Looks like several folks will be at TB during the Roadtrip.  Y'all oughta shoot your number over to BassinChris so we can all be in contact.  Would love to meet y'all for lunch or dinner and see how ur catching! 3 Quote
RCCA Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Best 14 I've ever caught in a Gale Force North Wind! Â Could barely keep my cap on my head! Â 3 Quote
LovestoFish Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 I'm going next weekend and am looking for places that may not have been fished too heavily and hold some fish.  Wilson Creek, just west of Corsey looks good.  Is anyone familiar with that area? A big THANK YOU to Catt and everyone else for this thread!!! 1 Quote
LSUh20fowler Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 3/15 - Pre fishing for V&M tounament. Launched at Big Bass, fished some small coves between Big Bass and Negreet. Caught a couple short fish and (2) 3.6 lbers on watermelon red wacky worm and spinnerbait. Wind was kicking butt so picked up boat and launched at Pirates Cove at noon. Fished main lake points and secondary points. Caught 21 bass with 5 biggest going 18 lbs. All on wacky worm in watermelon red and watermelon purple. 3/19 - Tournament day - Launched in Pirates cove. Big north wind blowing kicking butt. Ended up with 5 for 11.54 back off the bank in 6 -8 ft. Caught one punching hay grass and 4 on wacky worms. Wind really limited us on where we could go. Trying to convince the wife I NEEDÂ one one of those big fiberglass boats loaded with powerpoles, but she ain't biting. 4 Quote
RCCA Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Mine ain't going for it either lol I only caught 4 this morning. All three and four pounds, though, at least. I think I broke off my elusive DD under the boat too. Sickening. I can't get the glimpse of her size out of my head. Probably won't until Friday when I can try again. C'est la vie... 5 Quote

Bass_Fanatic Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I'm fishing for a few hours tomorrow. Gotta bring my old Puma to Toledo fiberglass to get the gorilla hull tweaked for the buyer. Â So if you see a black/white/red puma with 1 pole come by and say hi. I'll be somewhere between the mounds and buck. 1 Quote
Buckjunkie Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Driving per there now. Staying at Fin and Feather. W'ell be in a white Toyota Tundra and silver and green Skeeter. Hope this wind don't ruin our trip. I'll keep y'all posted. 1 Quote
EricYel Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Good Morning Gents, Just signed up to the site and have enjoyed reading your post. I also fish the bend regularly and will be headed up Sunday after Easter dinner. We have a family camp near the lanan area and have been doing pretty decent in the 1215 area. I figure since the rain and with the water being murky a chatterbait will come in to play. Your thoughts??? 1 Quote

june-bug Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I got a 14 year old who is going to be fishing out the back of the boat with me this weekend and he is more interested in crappie fishing than bass. Me not so much. Im not much of a crappie fisherman so my question is are they starting to move to the shallow water yet? Any particular creeks known as being better for white perch. I’m gonna bass fish but he wants to do the tube jig , beetle spin type stuff for some slabs. Any pointers appreciated. Report for last weekend goes like this. Fished around Big Bass Marina, Yokum, Indian Mounds, Oilwell, Lowes Creek. Probably caught about thirty fish total Thursday – Sunday. Big fish for us was 7.90. Most consistent pattern was 1/2oz weight junebug colored speed craw flipped around wood and buck brush. Caught a few fish on a perch colored square bill, white swim jig and Toledo Perch Santone spinnerbait. My son fished Pirates Cove with a buddy and ther biggest fish went 8-1/2 and they caught two over 5 pounds also. Black and blue Christy Craw. 3 Quote
mguidroz Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Great report June-Bug. Sorry I can't help you the crappie. I did talk with a guy, while fishing, that was trolling a road-running in 8-12 fow catching a few. Quote
Buckjunkie Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Fished in Housen for first time today. Very windy. We caught two small bass on baby brush hogs. We are not familiar with south lake. Do you guys think it would be worth fighting the wind at Indian Mounds in the morning or go elsewhere? 1 Quote
RCCA Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 With a a big South wind tomorrow, I think that would be a good choice as long as you launch at the Indian Mounds landing. There's plenty of area to fish that's protected from a South wind. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 I fished the mounds from 10-3 today. Got 8 bites and nothing big. Â 4 flipping and 4 on a trap. Â The wind was brutal. I planned on running to mill, but couldn't even round the mainland point at the mounds. I think we could have thrown a trap in the very back of creeks and catch a few more, but we were looking for a DD! 2 Quote
Buckjunkie Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Thanks guys. I'll let you know what we do tomorrow. Quote
Buckjunkie Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Tough morning. Fished Indian Mounds. 1 keeper on baby brush hog. Thinking of hitting Housen or 6 Mile after lunch. 2 Quote
Zutalores Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Will be heading to the Bend tomorrow morning to check on our family camp after the storms. Plan on fishing around Negreet. Â Any suggestions? Quote

Buckjunkie Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Only fish we caught today were really shallow behind the hay grass. Hard to get to. I heard someone slayed them today on a carolina rig off a point. Any suggestions? We on staying on Housen. 2 Quote
RNG521VX Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Fished Monday and Tuesday on the south end hitting Mill and Buck creek. Water was very stained. Best 5 both days 16-17lbs all on T-Rig senkos in Christmas tree color 5-10 FOW. Didn't catch any monsters, just some solid fish. Biggest went 4 1/2 each day. Lots of good deep grass in those areas. I did drag for crappie for about an hour each day with no luck. Weird that I didn't find any crappie. I was catching them in six mile about 3 weeks ago. 3 Quote
